  1. From what I have been told that is NOT going to happen. He is very happy in his new role and no longer wishes to spend days on end doing track prep and he’s not the only one who’s had enough of the cantankerous owners and walked away from the club. A shame as he has always been highly regarded on his work and it’s such a shame that what was one of the very best race tracks is being reduced to its current state. A good track man is about as rare as a British Premiership Football Manager!
  2. A game of two halfs , to use an analogy…. First half is the reason the sport is dying, track issues due to incompetent track preparation and having to be told how to fix it by the previous track curator who left the role because of the owners ! Took an hour on a freezing evening to sort it without a-decent explanation to the crowd. We were viewing on the back straight, normally great viewing point, but dust was just too much after two races so had to move to the home straight instead. After the tractor racing fiasco the second half of the meeting was much better with the close score and Comets getting in the groove and could have won the meeting if not for Vinnies loop when on a 5-1. Cook back to his best, Jeppesen very good. Bears relied on Klindt and Allen saving the day with the rest inconsistent but did enough to win the meeting but probably not the bonus point. overhall the diehards would have enjoyed it but went home feeling the cold and needing a hot shower whilst any newbies wont be coming back anytime soon. Redcar need better more consistent track preparation. P.S. Parked on the public road this time, much safer for the car.
  3. For someone who posts / moans on here everyday you really do need to keep up😄
  4. Buster bought Leicester hoping to run stock cars which the council refused, that’s why he sold it to the Bates very quickly. I see Northampton are now advertising for staff, leaving things a bit late🤔
  5. The sport Cost cutting. All clubs had to pay a ‘match fee’ to the one insurance company , arranged by Godfrey , for cover which was compulsory , this no longer exists it seems and may explain the change in title sponsor of one Lincolnshire based club.
  6. Interesting to read that other Premiership Promoters now have a ‘vested interest’ in the club so which promoter will be named as the ‘Tutor’ as all new promoters are supposed to have one ? Sounds like going back to the old days when one promoter ran several clubs . Do recall that not being within the rules but that book is simply ‘advice’ these days it seems.
  7. Can’t approve a track that they haven’t finished building yet .
  8. Can’t believe no one has made a thread on the match so here’s my tilt… On a very cold night the two clubs popularly tipped to finish bottom of the league fought it out but it wasn’t much of a fight , more like Bears v Pickering ! On this performance Bears will be ok with Klindt making an instant impact and the rest of the Bears getting solid score throughout and it could have been more without a mechanical issue for Jenkins. Scunthorpe , Pickering apart , were woeful, hard to believe two of them practised at Redcar the previous week. Expected more from MPT , Lambert and Mountain very disappointing but Pickering was exceptional after his first ride. Scorpions might do well at home but away ? Bears we’re rock solid but was very impressed how the two reserves rode, Pijper and Scott, both battling with riders far more experienced than they. Good that Wright was also in attendance. Pity about the electrical fault, not sure the meeting should have continued without the red lights working but they got away with no incidents although the delay did lose a few fans on a freezing evening . Despite the one sided score there was some good racing on a decent track with dirt on the outside and slick on the inside but glad we don’t have flag starts every week.
  9. Probably because they spent most of the day trying to get a guest and aren’t exactly feeling good about the coming season at the moment. Easy home win expected unfortunately but hope the Bears put up a fight.
  10. A bit harsh as the guy tries his best but it certainly isn’t the racers track it was a few seasons back. There’s No dirt on it these days , he appears scared to put water down and when they came out between races they just followed each other around the mid to outside and didn’t go down to the inside. Got to understand he’s a volunteer and there’s no experienced track man wanting the job, even though Jonathan is there most matches but he’s not the only one to have fallen out with those owners.
  11. Going to miss Danny King that’s for sure and even more so Wright could be out for months. Other than the class of King and one good ride from Scott it was a poor meeting on a slick, gaters paradise of a track. still early days and that was a strong Diamonds side , hopefully King will get lots of guest bookings 😉
  12. Pushed into attending the ‘practice’ today to get my first fix of the season and whilst the club is getting very professional in its outlook, ( studio photo’s !) but when are they going to get professional about track preparation and that car park ? I know track prep is a ‘dark art’ and Redcar have been spoilt with Terrry ‘the track’ and Jonathan Swales but they need to get some work done before next weeks first match if we are to see good racing . As for the car park it’s bad enough to walk across never mind drive your precious car across. Guess we’ll take a hint from the locals and park outside next week. On the plus side at least they’ve filled the pot holes in inside the stadium😀 Roll on next Friday night.
  13. Well I see a couple of new names , mainly in 125’s, but disappointing to see riders who have ridden at a higher level ( NDL ) for several seasons still in the NJL. I suppose it shows how few riders are taking up the sport, and despite what the BSPA say every season, the lack of racing opportunities for inexperienced riders, not the ‘junior’ league it once was.
  14. Team news for the Redcar match is looking better , riders now a bit keener as the sun comes out. Some interesting names from the past looking for rides.
  15. Can’t be a promoter at more than one club in the same league.
  16. “Not being in terminal decline “ ? A ‘PREMIERSHIP’ of just 6 teams ! a new team announced just 2 weeks before a season is due to start ! I think we all know the situation , whilst I appreciate the desire to watch live speedway has declined year on year , even the die hards that are left know this winter has been an absolute disaster as far as organisation is concerned and with no sign of change at the top table it’s only heading one way I’m afraid.
  17. Good news we have another club but I don't understand why the promoter hasn't been named , never mind a team line up. Any new promoter has to interviewed and vetted by the clowns running the sport so we must assume this has been done so why the secrecy ? A team must also have been sorted as you don't announce your running without one !
  18. The Dukes had a team in the NJL a few seasons back but the interest died out.
  19. Can’t agree with you at all on that, King has a respectable away average and if Klindt doesn’t like the way the wind is blowing , he’ll do nothing at all as he will be on his usual guarantee.
  20. King costs half of what gating tart Klindt demands.
