  1. You appear to be very lacking in any understanding of the situation here and acting very childishly. If this move has gone through then it should be of no surprise to anyone. Wallinger has always stated his desire to be a ' Bear ' as its his local club and he first started at Redcar as a ' Cub '. When first approached this season he was unable to sign as he as injured and the move was put on ice and Redcar looked elsewhere. Having been harshly treated by Scunthorpe last season and Birmingham this he understandably wants to ride where he trusts the management and has always got on with the current Redcar regime . Given his residence is less than an hour from Redcar and it's his ' dream move ' why would he turn the move down? and why do you believe they have done anything underhand? Having had personal dealing's ( over sponsorship) with the promotion at Redcar ,who have been criticised for their naivety and honesty at times , I don't think they will have done anything to change that. You are just upset at a rider leaving to try and better himself, good luck to the lad as this may be his last chance.
  2. He holds a Polish passport and due to Speedways ridiculous rules, even though he lives in England, is educated in England and holds a British speedway licence, he can't ' race ' in England's junior league.
  3. What sort of statement is that? Kelly was stopped from riding so they brought a local lad in as a guest who had ridden for them in the past , Gems brought a National League rider from Stoke into their team who I understand had also ridden for them once before . You really do put some silly comments on here.
  4. He's a Middlesbrough lad and was replacing Elliott Kelly who had been told by Mildenhall , his NL club, not to ride (?) . I understand Rathbone has ' guested ' a number of times at Redcar.
  5. As a neutral , I risked the trip and the forecast (yet again ) but was rewarded by sharp presentation and a decent meeting. 21 races completed in 1 and a half hours with lightening and rain all around. Congratulations to all concerned in getting the meeting completed. Not the best racing I've seen at Redcar but the Diamonds didnt put up much of a fight and when they did gate the Bears top end were simply too good for them. Jorgensen and Østergaard had there moments but Worrell was a pale shadow of his former self and race wins weren't coming easily. Wright, Riss, Palm-Toft and Stewart were class acts and Andersen , despite his lack of points, was in the thick of it.The Bears are a good side but Wooley looks out of his depth which could prove costly come the play off's. The junior match was rattled through, understandably, but credit where it's due for the club running it at all when other clubs would simply have cancelled it. Rathbone looks a prospect and the Kids races were excellent. Looked a good crowd and a great atmosphere around the place but parking was an issue as the main car park was full by 6:45 . Not many Diamonds fans in attendance which was surprising but perhaps the weather forecast put them off as not as many of the Workington fans there as I've seen before. As Arnie says..." I'll be back ".
  6. None of those lads were a reserve in the championship at the time ( too young ). Try to explain that situation to a new speedway fan, " he's good enough to ride in the league above but only good enough to be classed as a reserve in the Academy league ?" Simply not right. if a rider is in a championship side then surely he should be restricted to the top 5 in the NL? and while I'm having a rant, no rider should be riding in all 3 divisions, simply idiotic and impossible to explain. The NL is a good product but it needs to look at these things and not go the way of the other two divisions, with guests, R/R etc . items for El Supremo Mr. Pipe to sort out in the winter?
  7. Bailey is a slow burner and one for the future but it sums up the rules of the sport when a Championship reserve can be a reserve in the National League whilst his Championship reserve partner is No.1.
  8. If you read Neil's response more carefully you will see he quoted £12000 average over two matches. So for the home match that makes your ' prize ' fund £7-8,000 tops? That isn't going to excite the public. I welcome any ideas that might improve attendances but this doesn't appeal to me never mind someone who hasn't seen the sport. I could be just old and set in my ways, what do you think of the idea Neil?
  9. Most if not all sponsorship money goes into keeping the club running, not into riders wages, although no doubt it may subsidise some riders ar some clubs depending how big the ' deal ' is. Average main sponsor would pay around £10-12000 for a season ( some pay less if the club is desperate) Meeting sponsorship is around £500 at most championship tracks. Take away the actual cost of hosting the sponsors, ( drinks, Buffett, programmes etc) that doesn't leave a lot for the club or for a prize. The sport doesn't " sound big " because it isn't.
  10. Try going lower. Budget for the average Championship team wage bill for 2 matches ( 1 home, one away ) would be around 7-8 thousand, less if you get beaten !
  11. Why don't you mention it? There are group of around a dozen people from York travel to Redcar each match, 4 of them are new to speedway this season as I was speaking to them only last week at Redcar, they read about it in the Whitby Gazette of all things.
  12. Chicken and egg time. If a club has no money , and just about every club is losing money every week, then how do you spend money you haven't got on trying to get enough new people to come through the turnstiles to even cover the cost of your advertising? Glasgow openly admit to spending £100,000 on advertising last year and it made no difference whatsoever to the average size of their crowd. Its alright saying speculate to accumulate but it didn't work in Glasgow .
  13. Britains wildcard entrant at Cardiff, Charles Wright, has come up with this fantastic scheme to help the charity and win a great prize. BACK THE CHAMPION 2019 British Champion Charles Wright is offering a unique opportunity for companies and individuals to back him at the forthcoming British Grand Prix. Wright is having a race suit and covers made for the Cardiff showpiece next month and will be auctioning the race suit off after the meeting with proceeds going to the SRBF. Wright is looking for companies to support his push to compete in front of 40,000 British supporters. He added: "This really is a unique opportunity for companies to come on board for this special meeting as I look to compete against the world's best riders on what will be an emotional night for British Speedway. "I already have the support of a couple of companies since my win in Manchester and I really would appreciate the help of other companies should they be interested in getting involved." Should anyone be interested they can email Charles for further details. charleswrightracing26@gmail.com
  14. Anyone else think it a bit strange that all this was being filmed by someone standing near the scene of the incident by someone standing on the track?
  15. Mr.Cook was dealt with by the S.C.B. for 'assaulting an official ' at the fours in 2017 ( Jason Pipe acting as a clerk of the course) he was fined £65 . Shows you how highly the SCB treasure their 'officials'.
  16. Change separately? Appropriate adult? Think you will find the club will say the ' appropriate adult ' was a fellow team mate as very few clubs have taken the legal steps to ensure compliance with the regulations. When I asked the S.C.B. Officer in charge What level of training the child protection officer would require to take up such a post the reply was " you just need to put someone's name in the programme, doesn't matter about training" Thats how seriously he who should know better took it, especially for the role he holds within the speedway set up, but as is frequently said in this forum " that's speedway for you!".
  17. Expensive week for Bears fans as they were at Belle Vue in numbers on Monday. If they travel to Glasgow Friday, Berwich Saturday and a home match on Sunday then they are certainly loyal supporters. That and the fixture list is ridiculous..
  18. Yes he is. Part of a deal that took him to Somerset as they couldn't afford to buy him.
  19. Cash ? What a strange response. His wages , and they are wages that he has earned by his performance, are paid in the normal manner and with due taxes taken into account. Exactly the same as is done at his other club Redcar. Havent heard Redcar claiming his success is all their doing.
  20. There isn't a bad place to sit. Pick a ticket price that suits your pocket. Personally I find the first tier on the bends to be my favourite.
  21. How has he shown faith??? Charles is top of the averages so not having a ' bad patch ' to justify anything other than not sacking him and you must be joking on the wages ( yes I do know the deal) which were negotiated by the Ged Father not Buster . Charles is possibly the cheapest heat leader at P'Bro!
  22. Yeah, like Buster had anything to do with his ability or even signed him for any of his clubs . Charles's victory is down to Charles and his team of helpers and sponsors, nothing whatsoever to do with Buster.
  23. He's on less at Redcar than he was at Somerset. Don't believe what your leaders spread,.
  24. Think you'll be surprised how little he costs as he rides where he is happy , not for the money. I have no doubt he'll be worth a few quid more now. But if you want to pay Glasgow type wages be prepared for bankruptcy on your crowds.
  25. That is your opinion, not backed up by facts though. Having spoken to riders at length at the time about the 2011 silencers they never stated they were' reluctant too get close to someone' they complained the bikes ' died ' in deep dirt and some brands caused overheating issue. Having used said silencers myself and having spoken with Jason Lyons several times on the subject as he particularly suffered early season with these silencers he never ever said it had any affect on getting near other riders so made no difference to the quality of the racing. Many of those era silencers are still being used at amateur meetings up and down the country as they were available very cheaply when the rule was changed yet gain.
