Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi Final
Fortythirtyeight replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Mr.Cook was dealt with by the S.C.B. for 'assaulting an official ' at the fours in 2017 ( Jason Pipe acting as a clerk of the course) he was fined £65 . Shows you how highly the SCB treasure their 'officials'. -
Change separately? Appropriate adult? Think you will find the club will say the ' appropriate adult ' was a fellow team mate as very few clubs have taken the legal steps to ensure compliance with the regulations. When I asked the S.C.B. Officer in charge What level of training the child protection officer would require to take up such a post the reply was " you just need to put someone's name in the programme, doesn't matter about training" Thats how seriously he who should know better took it, especially for the role he holds within the speedway set up, but as is frequently said in this forum " that's speedway for you!".

Expensive week for Bears fans as they were at Belle Vue in numbers on Monday. If they travel to Glasgow Friday, Berwich Saturday and a home match on Sunday then they are certainly loyal supporters. That and the fixture list is ridiculous..

Well Done Charles Right
Fortythirtyeight replied to Debbs's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes he is. Part of a deal that took him to Somerset as they couldn't afford to buy him. -

Cash ? What a strange response. His wages , and they are wages that he has earned by his performance, are paid in the normal manner and with due taxes taken into account. Exactly the same as is done at his other club Redcar. Havent heard Redcar claiming his success is all their doing. -

How has he shown faith??? Charles is top of the averages so not having a ' bad patch ' to justify anything other than not sacking him and you must be joking on the wages ( yes I do know the deal) which were negotiated by the Ged Father not Buster . Charles is possibly the cheapest heat leader at P'Bro! -

Yeah, like Buster had anything to do with his ability or even signed him for any of his clubs . Charles's victory is down to Charles and his team of helpers and sponsors, nothing whatsoever to do with Buster. -
He's on less at Redcar than he was at Somerset. Don't believe what your leaders spread,.
-
Think you'll be surprised how little he costs as he rides where he is happy , not for the money. I have no doubt he'll be worth a few quid more now. But if you want to pay Glasgow type wages be prepared for bankruptcy on your crowds.

That is your opinion, not backed up by facts though. Having spoken to riders at length at the time about the 2011 silencers they never stated they were' reluctant too get close to someone' they complained the bikes ' died ' in deep dirt and some brands caused overheating issue. Having used said silencers myself and having spoken with Jason Lyons several times on the subject as he particularly suffered early season with these silencers he never ever said it had any affect on getting near other riders so made no difference to the quality of the racing. Many of those era silencers are still being used at amateur meetings up and down the country as they were available very cheaply when the rule was changed yet gain.

Still over the top compared to around £12 at a lot of other tracks. -

£18:50 adult entrance, £2 parking, £3 per programme Got to be the most expensive track in the Championship? -
This thread has had 375 ' views ' yet only 3 responses. No wonder the sport is in such a mess as it appears people are quite happy to moan on here but can't be bothered to put some constructive input on here when there is an opportunity to feedback to a promotion that appears interested in what the fans have to say. whilst the questions are aimed at Redcar fans in this instance it can be used at any track in the country. Have you say and I will submit to them ( the organisers of the survey )on your behalf . Nows your chance!

You said that the introduction of silencers had made the standard of racing deteriorate. If all bikes are effected the same way, which they were, then all bikes will perform similarly therefore the racing will still be as close , or not, as it was before . They might be slightly slower or even less noisey but this would not effect the STANDARD of racing.
-
Then you haven't kept up with the threads, Glasgow, Belle Vue ,Redcar have all reported ' new fans' just not in the great numbers they and all of us hoped for.
-
How can this be true when crowds at some tracks have increased recently? Fans at Belle Vue, Scunthorpe, Redcar, Glasgow have all quoted repeatedly that they are seeing better racing now but you say the opposite. Must just be your eyes.
-
How is that even possible when all the bikes would be acting the same?
-
So you haven't been to a meeting in over 40 years? wow! Says a lot about this forum.

Silencers were used in the late 70's early 80's when speedway was at its peak so your statement ( opinion ) does not hold water. Rules concerning silencers have changed every three years on average since they were introduced, the biggest change was in 2011 , which lead to some overheating issues but didn't alter the standard of racing.
-
Yes, I have followed speedway long enough to have seen both era's , ( from 1972) I have visited tracks at both ends of the country and attend at least two tracks a week, usually three and they are different ones each week. Compare this to your non attendance. Spoke to Martin ( Mad Dig) Dixon recently who rode for over 25 years and he said the standard of racing these days is far superior to when he started in the late 70's. Dont judge every track by your local track experience, there's a few out there producing great racing and entertainment EVERY week. Tv matches are primarily Premiership which is inferior racing to most championship and even some National League matches. Even Sky used to say they saw more competitive meetings when covering championship meetings.
-
Wrong. The only thing affected by the introduction of silencers is the noise ( obviously ) and engine tuning. Made no difference whatsoever to the standards of racing.
-
Absolute rubbish. Upright's are ridden with controllable power , laydown's have to be revved to maximum limit to perform , they basically have an on off switch.
-
Some dissapoiting averages there. Bjerre was considered to be a no.1 a few seasons ago, now a second string, same with Østergaard. Add a rider who hasn't achieved a 2 point average in three seasons the team is out performing its average so proves statistics mean little.
