GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE

Have to say, that was fabulous racing tonight, particularly after the first few heats. Heats 4 & 8 would good, but the others early relied on good gating. After that, it just got better. Of course delays can be a bit frustrating, but I didn’t hear any complaints at the track. The accidents were unfortunate but the track was good. Milik took in too much speed when the track was grippy. I think Thomsen was aware the meeting was getting away from him. Holder was unlucky Bellego couldn’t avoid him. No idea about Berntzon’s crash - it’s likely conditions were trickier in practice, in fairness. Fricke, Holder, Lebedevs (early on, at least), Jensen, and Jepsen Jensen (later on) all produced some great racing. Kubera, Wozniak, Bellego all nowhere, sadly. Saw a comment about it being the worst meeting at Glasgow this year. Get yer head checked. It did take a few heats to get the racing we are accustomed to, but when it came, it was absolutely sensational. -

A break for Nilsson in heat 18 - I think we'll be out of reserve rides to replace Milik -

He's being moved right now. I'm sure they'll continue as long as they have medical cover. -

Generally the fastest riders cut in on turn one and float wide. Turn 3 differs more, but the best racing is when they can just ride the boards. Not fastest tonight, but I believe he's got the fastest time this year, unless it was beaten in the test match. -

He beat Kubera. Also best Lebedevs, but that was more fortune as he got a bit beaten up in a crowded turn one. -

I didn't see anything unusual in front of him, and it was Connor Bailey who is as fast as anyone around Ashfield this year. -

They did the hokey cokey with Holder's ambulance too. No idea why. -

Not sure if someone has complained about the air fence. FIM official examining it with the track staff now. Can't say I ever remember it being an issue before though, and it's not changed, so perhaps I'm just reading too much into it. Not much else to do right now. Tapping away at least keeps my fingers warm -

The unofficial anthem of England... Why are we playing it in Scotland? (I'm from Rye House, so I can say that) -

Yes, very patchy chat in the stadium. No music. It's the one thing I would say they can do better. Berwick does that well. -

Yeah, Thomsen was on 5 points, behind again. Knew he needed to win. Just tried too hard. Will need a wildcard now. -

We have seen some good racing, but Milik and Thomsen both just go their lines wrong. Holder was unlucky - he high sided and got collected. The fall was awkward but he would've got up from it. -

Ambulance 2 on track again. Ambulance 3 just left with Chris Holder... Ambulance 1 is up at the pits but seems we might have a reasonable stoppage again. Unfortunate accidents really. -

Nilsson's last two rides are off 1 and 4. Heat 15 is tough, but heat 18 could be a good one for him based on what we've seen so far. Gate 4, no big guns (two riders with one point combined, and Drew Kemp). -

First win from gate 2, albeit no rider off 3. Bewley has 8 points. 5 riders with 7: Fricke, Holder (J), Jensen, Lambert, Nilsson.
