  1. Sorry to disappoint you, but Cardiff is still staging GP next year
  2. Struggling to get into this meeting. Poor racing on what is normally the best track in the series
  3. How many falls were there last night?
  4. The Wolves promotion are far too shrewd to start shouting from the rooftop about a site being found before they know there's a realistic chance they can get it - though they've pretty much said it wont be in the Wolverhampton borough. However, I think it's clear that 2025 is a no go unless something changes very quickly.
  5. Rickardsson also won the majority of his titles when you only had 6 rounds and 1 bad GP would kill your chances. Jason Crump had five podium finishes out of 6 in 2001, but a poor Berlin GP cost him the title.
  6. Think that takes a bit away from Brennan to be fair, who was outstanding all night. Given what Cardiff means to Harris, I'm not so sure he'd give up another chance to get back there for one last time.
  7. Birmingham's biggest let down tonight was their starting - it was absolutely woeful and Oxford punished them for it.
  8. Be more prudent to make sure only those who have to be in the pits are there and stop having all the hangers on who do nothing but get in the way, especially when something kicks off.
  9. Pawlicki was brilliant on occasions with Wolves ten years ago, but we cancelled his contract mid season because he was missing far too many meetings.
  10. Have said before that stopping them building on Brandon will be the easy bit. Getting the site out of their hands is a very different proposition, given they appear to have no intention of selling it. However, while its still there, hope must remain that we'll see speedway in one of its most iconic venues once again. Coventry returning would be such a huge boost for the sport
  11. Wasn't Jim Lynch the Reading manager?
  12. Birmingham did something similar to that a couple of years ago with Coventry and Cradley fans and by all accounts it did not go down well with their own fans, who questioned why they had to pay more while other clubs fans had a discount. Understandable that they want more fans in, but you don't want to get the regular ones backs up in the process.
  13. It would help with being able to get the track right as well. The staff did well to do that at Monmore given they could work on the track for limited times when Ladbrokes let them. Whether CVS would change the race night would remain to be seen. Sure he'd prefer to run in the top flight if he can. Anyway, let's make sure we get permission first before worrying about things like that!
  14. It'll be a very basic venue to start with. Not a chance of the stadium being at the same standard as the NSS from the word go. Long way to go, bit hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel for us getting back. The only concern would be getting to the site on public transport if its any distance away. Fine work those of us with cars, but maybe not so much for those who used to hop on the 79 bus to get to Monmore
  15. I remain very sceptical about Bradford being viable for league racing in particular. Their crowds were never great from my memory in the 90s (certainly when you compare it against the size of the stadium). You couldn’t accuse the Hams of putting together cheap teams either - they were always very strong teams and were particularly strong in the KO cup.
  16. Ironically if Entain were able to have betting at speedway, CVS would probably be having a lucrative contract waved under his nose.....
  17. A tough night to get through and one I'd dreaded since the shattering news in April. Some decent racing on view, but that was of secondary importance on a night where corporate greed finally and selfishly ousted friendships that have been built, memories made and dreams came true (with the odd nightmare along the way!) 33 years on from first walking into Monmore Green as a 7 year old kid, I'm finding it hard to come to terms that just over an hour ago, I walked out through the gates for the very last time. Seeing my first speedway hero Ronnie Correy back on a bike again (and still looking handy btw) took me back to those halcyon 90s days, where life seemed so much better. The end of an era. Let's hope can do it all again some place. Monmore Green. 1928 to 2023
  18. I fear the weather might have a big say for Monday. Damage may have been done already during yesterday's storms
  19. What's gone on with the Russians almost adds to the mystique with Laguta. He was phenomenal in 2021, but only just edged Zmarzlik out. Would he have been able to raise his game to another level in 2022? I can remember when Chris Holder won in 2012 that many were claiming he'd go on and win multiple titles - he never got remotely close again.
  20. Would have been fascinating to hear the great man's opinion on Bartek. I always felt he was quite dismissive of TR.
  21. He's certainly matured quicker. I notice he's broken the record for the youngest rider to win 4 titles. Just by comparison. Greg Hancock 44 Hans Nielsen 35 Ivan Mauger 33 Barry Briggs 31 Tony Rickardsson 31 Ove Fundin 30 Bartosz Zmarzlik 28
  22. Barring injury/someone stepping up/Zmarzlik's standards dropping you can certainly see him roaring past Mauger and Rickardsson, though they had tougher opposition.
  23. We effectively did that after heat 9 on Monday! Asides that, this is yet another night where speedway blasts its own feet to smithereens. Clear to see the intention is to get to heat 10, with scant regard for the paying punters. It's a Semi-Final of a major competition, yet its got the atmosphere of a wake.
