  1. All is not lost, something is stirring down in the Forest.
  2. I am 99.9% sure that the NDL is not on the horizon. I don't think there is any great appetite to be at the top table, and whilst Monday & Thursday remain as PL race nights I can't see Cradley starting off in the Premier League, which leaves just the remaining League, I know they prefer to run on there historical racenight and it's probably easier to get PP to race on that day due to prevailing traffic conditions on weekends as opposed to weekdays.
  3. Have you ever been to Buxton ?, if you have you will know it is basic and in a very beutiful part of the world, no worries about development out where they are unless you want to develop a new breed of sheep, as for being viable I think it will be providing the NDL stays as it has been for the past few years, which is primarily a development league, it was only when teams such as Cradley, Birmingham, Eastbourne used the National league as a competitive league and paid much more than the old £10 per point and mileage that forced teams such as Buxton to have to pay over the odds to entice any rider that had above average ability, prior to that Buxton was a very good nursery for young riders and Buxton generally more than held there own when silverware was up for grabs. If you have never been to Buxton I suggest you take a drive out you may be pleasantly surprised, I have NO doubts Buxton will last the season.
  4. Luke Littler would be the ideal guy, young and with a big following amongst the younger generation.
  5. Surely this is something Phil Morris should be encouraging ?, instead he now seems to be a part of the BSPL and that in itself means being stuck in the same old same old, Phil himself is now part of the problem and not a new broom bringing in new ideas.
  6. The bond between the fans and riders has been lost, this 100%. that is down to riders doubling up and down, fans no longer have their rider for there team it is basically watching a rider that just happens to have your teams colours on, I know riders are self employed but previously they only raced for 1 team per season with occasional guest appearances.
  7. Good to see you didn't rock the boat about Cradley on the podcast 🫠.
  8. Yes, basically to show them how to run an unviable business, how to not promote said sport and basically carry on running the sport into the ground, then to tell them any new ideas are not welcome, when the new promoter will realise it's a load of cobblers and walk away in much the same way most new promoters have done for the last 20 or so seasons, if anyone knows any different then please come on here and tell all.
  9. Maybe an idea would be that before the season starts every rider that wants to guest during the coming season signs an agreement that he will guest for the fee agreed by the league if not he does not go on to the rider guest list, yes I know teams can still pay over the odds but perhaps when the said rider asks for more he should be removed from the list.
  10. That is probably a very good guess.
  11. Well you were a co director at Brum so would have more of an idea than most of us 🫠, the rumour has been around for a few months now and he is good friends with Drillerman, my only surprise is that a deal has not already been done, which throws a little doubt as to why hats have not been doffed already, unless it's because Mrs Tophat prefers him to take a year out.
  12. How much actual racing do you see for that ?, Speedway works out at about £1.50 per minutes racing, I know from the rare occasions i have been to stocks that races last a lot longer so roughly how much per minutes racing?, I am going to take a wild guess and say something like 25p per minutes racing which is way way less than the cost of Speedway.
  13. I don't think the Rugby Club are flush with cash, they seem to think Speedway is noisy though I suspect many of those who make the decisions have no idea what Speedway is (Noisy motorbikes seems to be a generalisation) and the bikers Club having their HQ on site seems to be a little bit of a contradiction, I do believe there are possibilities of staging Speedway at Portway however influential Committee members probably need to be convinced about noise issues, but with the site being next to the M42 planning may be less of an issue than at other sites, parking on site is not an issue and neither is site access, most of the other facilities are already there just needs the track, and someone to sweet talk the Rugby people that the noise is barely more than what can be heard from the motorway traffic. Yes I remember Mike Hailwood being killed down the nearby lanes, I was a delivery driver covering that area at the time, did Mike say it was safer doing Moto GP than riding on roads (riders all go the same way).
  14. So what would your thoughts be ? for sure it has not changed much except for the M42, the Rugby Clubhouse straight in front of you is probably still the same one as back then. Anyone out there, especially old fartz looking for something to do this Saturday evening why not take a look https://www.boringoldfartz.co.uk/ The Bikers Club house is on the right at The Portway and for £2 what's not to like ?.
  15. This could be an ideal site if the Rugby club could be persuaded that the noise issue is not a problem, especially as the site is next to the M42. https://www.beesrugby.com/ https://www.google.com/maps/place/52°21'11.8"N+1°52'37.2"W/@52.3532778,-1.877,506m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m4!3m3!8m2!3d52.3532778!4d-1.877?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDkwMy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
  16. I think the (Top) hat has other irons in the fire, very much closer to (his) home 🫠.
  17. Halifax ?, Eastbourne ?, Stoke ?.
  18. Thank you for all that you have done and don't be lost to the Sport, there is one glaring omission from the names that you have mentioned so from that I take it that he was one of the influencers and probably the main one, feel free to correct me if i am wrong 🫠.
  19. The only Corbett that had any connection with Speedway was Corbetts bookmakers who used to own Loomer Road, perhaps there was a Corbett involved in the Stockcars.
  20. I get the feeling that you may be right.
  21. Surely that's not correct, Perry Barr can hold a decent crowd and just because its a few over is neither here nor there, and who counts them ?.
  22. Dudley Wood was built on after the developers appealed against the Council decision to reject development and won, Monmore is still there the owners Ladbrokes (Entain) no longer want Speedway at the venue due to Speedway (shale) allegedly causing injuries to some dogs.
  23. A much better performance from the Brummies but Chris Adams said that he felt they didn't deserve to lose, what planet is he on ? the Brummies were at home against a team that they beat just over a month ago, why did they not deserve to lose according to him because they lost Ht 14, what about the other 14 Hts that they had a chance of winning ? it is such a sad way for the Brummies to go out on and we have just one more meeting for West Midland Speedway before we lose our last remaining Team.
