  1. Is this Steve Park guy Clark Osborne in disguise ?, I had never heard of him until recently, probably doesn't know one end of a speedway bike from another, not to mention which way riders go around a track.
  2. I believe it was the leaseholder Mr Boothby that said it..
  3. Not quiet, PGR are in talks about possibilities at Oxford so all is not lost, and in reply to Ray their are 2 companies that stream greyhound racing they are PGR consisting of Ladbrokes, Corals, and ARC which stream from their own tracks and several others, SIS stream the remaining tracks and several Greyhound tracks over in Ireland, basically the many thousands of pounds earned from streaming these live races keeps the Stadiums open, so for any of them to lose those streaming contracts it is a huge blow to their viability, which is where Oxford are right now, and for those that do not know the lease at Oxford allegedly was/is for 10 years.
  4. I have no idea where this multi millionaire came from, he allegedly only ever spends other peoples money and it is a fact that he often enjoys having a bet, seems this time his gamble has come unstuck.
  5. I am going to comment about the weather, Laurence knows what it's like up in the Dales at this time of the year, there was no need to start the season until the Mayday Bank holiday, their will be plenty racedays between May and the end of September, more than enough to get the fixtures in, the extra 4 weeks could have been used getting further improvements done. I really do wish Buxton all the best and it is great to see them back up and running, I will be up their myself just as soon as i have some reliable wheels and the weather gets warmer, so you see standing around in freezing temperatures is not ideal for everyone especially for us OAP's.
  6. Neither did Luke Harris, maybe they did'nt want to get frostbite.
  7. I think their could well be some Oxford riders available as I can't see how the Stadium will stay open, I would be looking to draft in either Luke Killeen or Mitchell McDiarmid and definately Darryl Ritchings at 7, as I think the only points Tom will score is if their are only three finishers.
  8. Even on the Greyhound sites their is little news coming out, what i do know is that their was supposed to be a Greyhound meeting at Oxford last night but it did not take place, as for the removal of equipment I have no idea but it would not surprise me if it has not been paid for, I did think another Greyhound promoter may take it on but from what is being said the alleged terms of the lease seem to make it unviable especially without any streaming income, which basically leaves Speedway at Oxford up in the air or in laymans terms, up the creek without a paddle.
  9. Basically yet another balls up by the BSPL, what a useless bunch of clowns they are, but hey never mind we have a new Track and Team so everything is on the up, or so they believe.
  10. Your lucky Mine comes up with this https://www.plymouth-speedway.com/?page_id=7734
  11. Thank you, I would not have posted unless I was sure and the source has proved reliable in the past, I do believe someone will probably take over the lease, providing the lease is able to be Transferred, I am no businessman but allegedly SIS do have charges against the lease and it would be in no-ones interest to see Oxford close.
  12. 😛, You were saying https://www.racingpost.com/greyhounds/big-blow-for-greyhound-racing-as-sis-cancels-contracts-at-oxford-and-suffolk-downs-a6AY51v5riSm/
  13. I cant find another topic to post in, but I am reading that their are some issues with regards the Greyhound racing at Oxford and Mildenhall, it's a well known fact within Greyhound circles that the Leaseholder at Oxford has serious health issues.
  14. This is a classic example of how NOT to Promote, I have banged on for years about owner/promoters of Speedway teams have little or no idea what the word promote means let alone actually do some, is their an actual promoter involved ? because if so he/she needs to pull their finger out, the BSPL needs to get on the phone to Barry Bishop and eat some humble pie he is what is needed, not someone like Phil Morris who appears to have done little or nothing since he has been involved at the BSPL, or any of the other so called promotors.
  15. Deanno, what do we consider to be to close to houses ? surely BV is close to houses but it is something the council wanted so it was allowed, surely if something improves the area as a whole then it can be put forward for outline planning permission ?, discounting farmers fields i am aware of pretty much 99.9% of sites around Cradley Heath obviously their is no ideal site otherwise it would have been found by now, ideally a track share with Wolves would be ideal and if a site was big enough a track within a track could be the way to track share (the inside track for Wolves), The Lion Farm site just off Junction 2 of the M5 would have been ideal for a project such as that, but again the local council prefer to let the site become more and more run down before it eventually becomes uneconomic to repair and will be sold off to developers, in the meantime they refuse to lease the site and receive an annual rental income which could have been be reinvested.
  16. With regards your reference to Linlithgow, this is what Next Generation Heathens are attempting to do with Cradley Heathens, however whilst the local farmer has agreed to them having a field, the relevant local authority are proving to be rather more difficult with regards to giving the PP, I would think the chances of them progressing have very little chance of succeeding, Councils simply do not want Speedway.
  17. Mr R is available 😁, but I doubt LR would fancy taking a chance with the former mascot 😁.
  18. It doesn't matter who the TM is, so far they look like they are Mr Roger's picks, just needs a few younger prospects now to finish the team off, I suspect that they are hoping to pick up a few prospects at the forthcoming practice sessions though being in the middle of the Peak District winter now, i suspect those sessions will be less than what they may hope for.
  19. Yeah just carry on with the same old same old carp, and the same old faces, I had genuinely thought LR may have brought in a new face albeit one that can be outspoken and has ridden for a few teams over the years, then again maybe he is to much his own man for LR's liking.
  20. I suspect the latter, but they were joined by a few others that are no longer around but the irony is that Buxton are coming back whilst the teams that broke the wage structure are no longer around, maybe if they had stuck to the basic £10 point and 10p per mile they to may have still been around.
  21. Well if its all a Pipe dream i will be sorry as i think there are better options out there.
  22. Only just read this, RIP Bob, he spent something of an Indian summer with the Heathens he came as someone who could pick up an odd point or two having suffered from injuries which affected his points scoring, by the end of the 1977 season he was again capable of beating anyone except the very top riders and was a vital cog in a very good Cradley Heath team, he retired from British speedway at the end of the season, from everyone at Cradley Heath we send our condolences to family and friends.
  23. That makes sense but I read the following on Fb, If and when Buxton Ductair Bulls are given the BSPL go-ahead to return at third tier level, the first meeting at the hillside circuit in nearly eight years will be the Regina Chain-sponsored four-team tournament on Easter Sunday, April 5.
  24. Yes, but it is a known fact with MM, I will give an example the early April Opening date is a gamble with the weather at most tracks in the UK, at Buxton it is even more of a gamble because the weather is highly likely to be very cold up in the Peak district in early April, but it's not MM's money that is being used so not really a risk, now if the early May bank holiday 1 month later was the Opening date then i would suggest that is much more suitable weather wise and less likely that spectators won't need several layers to avoid getting frost bite, will I be going to Buxton yes, but no way will I be there in April.
