  1. Mr R is available 😁, but I doubt LR would fancy taking a chance with the former mascot 😁.
  2. It doesn't matter who the TM is, so far they look like they are Mr Roger's picks, just needs a few younger prospects now to finish the team off, I suspect that they are hoping to pick up a few prospects at the forthcoming practice sessions though being in the middle of the Peak District winter now, i suspect those sessions will be less than what they may hope for.
  3. Yeah just carry on with the same old same old carp, and the same old faces, I had genuinely thought LR may have brought in a new face albeit one that can be outspoken and has ridden for a few teams over the years, then again maybe he is to much his own man for LR's liking.
  4. I suspect the latter, but they were joined by a few others that are no longer around but the irony is that Buxton are coming back whilst the teams that broke the wage structure are no longer around, maybe if they had stuck to the basic £10 point and 10p per mile they to may have still been around.
  5. Well if its all a Pipe dream i will be sorry as i think there are better options out there.
  6. Only just read this, RIP Bob, he spent something of an Indian summer with the Heathens he came as someone who could pick up an odd point or two having suffered from injuries which affected his points scoring, by the end of the 1977 season he was again capable of beating anyone except the very top riders and was a vital cog in a very good Cradley Heath team, he retired from British speedway at the end of the season, from everyone at Cradley Heath we send our condolences to family and friends.
  7. That makes sense but I read the following on Fb, If and when Buxton Ductair Bulls are given the BSPL go-ahead to return at third tier level, the first meeting at the hillside circuit in nearly eight years will be the Regina Chain-sponsored four-team tournament on Easter Sunday, April 5.
  8. Yes, but it is a known fact with MM, I will give an example the early April Opening date is a gamble with the weather at most tracks in the UK, at Buxton it is even more of a gamble because the weather is highly likely to be very cold up in the Peak district in early April, but it's not MM's money that is being used so not really a risk, now if the early May bank holiday 1 month later was the Opening date then i would suggest that is much more suitable weather wise and less likely that spectators won't need several layers to avoid getting frost bite, will I be going to Buxton yes, but no way will I be there in April.
  9. I did mention this earlier in the topic, as you say it is not cheap to set oneself up in Speedway, and bearing in mind he allegedly tried to rob someone then i doubt he is exactly flush for funds, personally without backing I cannot see how he will fund any comeback.
  10. If he is thinking of attempting a come back, it will be interesting to know where he will get his kit from, or more to the point the money to get some decent kit. Back then he had no money https://www.gmp.police.uk/news/greater-manchester/news/news/2020/october/a-man-who-burgled-a-disabled-mans-home-before-robbing-an-elderly-woman-at-knifepoint-has-been-jailed/.
  11. Don't be silly they want you standing there freezing your wotsits off Possibly because the riders want paying ?.
  12. So the 2026 double up league is going to run for the benefit of the riders and to the detriment of Promoters, Fans and the Sport as a whole, I really cannot believe the BSPL or should I say the promoters of the Double up League want to Promote a League of 5 teams, I refuse to call it a Premiership as any League in any Sport that has so few teams can only be described at best as being cobbled together, Double up promoters hang your heads in shame for making the Sport a laughing stock.
  13. Yes it was but slightly more than a few years back. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yarmouth_Bloaters
  14. Mike, You generally have your finger on the pulse and put forward some decent ideas, but it seems that you like many others have missed the current goings on in the Midlands, you mention Wolves and Coventry but missed out the 1 team that has irons in the fire in that they have land, and are making slow but sure progress in obtaining the necessary planning that is needed to progress further, so far as I am aware everything is in place to move ahead should those permissions eventually be forthcoming, take a look. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550875127536
  15. Well if he wants to ride for Belle Vue that's his choice, if he prefers Poland on weekends that's also his choice, basically whenever Belle Vue decide to ride in whatever League, riders have the choice to make in the same way that most of us choose where and when to work, sometimes we have to do what we don't like doing.
  16. It all boils down to the old saying, where there is a will, there is a way, the stumbling block from what I read is there are allegedly a couple of Clubs that don't want to lose Top league status.
  17. No there does not, if the so called top league folds then the what does the other league become ?., think back to the early 60's the National League became untenable which left the Provincial League that then became THE British League with National league teams joining, the difference between now and then is solely the number of riders or should i say where the riders come from, take away the Aussies and we would struggle to have the 2 leagues we have had for the last few years. I believe Speedway in the UK has to take a step back before it can step forwards, at the very minimum NO doubling up/down which in itself will be a step forward, Poole are an example of NOT riding in the so called top league on a night the fans want to watch, somehow a way has to be found and struggling to maintain the status quo is not it.
  18. Of course he is happy having an income from 2 teams, plus the occasional guest booking, with only 1 income he may have to find a proper job and just be a part time Speedway rider, could i ask what will he do when he decides to hang up his leathers ?.
  19. Is it time for SCS to ask the Council about the possibilities of putting a CPO on Brandon?, this is assuming the financial backers would guarantee the funds to cover the CP0 costs, I can't see the council spending tax payers money to save Brandon so any monies that they spend will need to be recovered, failing that I really can't see any other way forward, BE will in my opinion never sell the site and just play the long game.
  20. 1. We currently have 14 which includes 1 that is for sale, so that would be the number. 2. Whichever racenight that suits that particular team best. 3. In the last 20 or so years only Belle Vue have stayed as a top flight club, all the remainder have spent time outside the top flight. I hate to see any team close for whatever reason, Coventry and Wolves both closed through no Stadia not through lack of support, so the more teams the better for the sport as a whole. As for racenights Poole have shown racing on a night that people prefer to attend can be the best solution for increased attendances, we are trying to save Speedway in the Uk and what Poland does should not dictate what is best for the Uk. Standard of competition ? obviously the level would be reduced due to the lack of riders, but that should not detract from the racing entertainment provided, currently we could have Brady Kurtz racing against Sam Hagon (nothing against Sam) but with the reduced standard that difference should in theory be less. For goodness sake stop trying to hold on to something that has run it's course, in the early 1960's the top flight was down to about 5 teams, and the Provincial League had probably double that, the 2 Leagues amalgamated to form the British League (weaker standard but better) that is what needs to happen now, it does not need to be 7 man teams due to rider shortage, obviously not everyone will be happy least of all the riders, but this is a move that has to be made for the good of the Sport long term, the Sport has to put itself first and individual teams have to fit in with that. I have tried to answer your 3 questions as best that I can, their will be issues of course and it's not one answer that fit's every Team but by working together British Speedway can dig itself out of the hole that it finds itself in, and while we are at it why can we not find a Sponsor and Tv company that can support a British GP series with a round to be held at every Track ?, the Sponsor to provide prize money at every round and the TV company to pay for the rights at each track, or something along those lines.
  21. Why the heck don't they just bite the bullet and just go to 1 professional league ? it is going to happen sooner rather than later, I would have thought it would be far easier to attract a TV company with a league that has more teams in it. The BSPL is again showing that it has it's head in the clouds by postponing the agm and delaying the inevitable.
  22. Mark Lemon would say that as he manages probably the most heavily subsidised team in the UK, without the local councils support even BV would struggle to exist, Mr Lemon could also say the reverse is true in that without the Championship would we have a Premier League ?.
  23. He has always been very good at spending other peoples money, but that's not an issue because I would have thought not many people invest in Speedway to turn a profit, and it is great to see Buxton back because they are a genuine grassroots team.
  24. They will no doubt's come from the same areas that the Stock car fans come from, I said areas not the same stock car fans, which do occasionally run meetings on the same day and time as Speedway, in fact you used to be able to look over from the Stock cars and watch the Speedway, 2 for the price of one so to speak.
