The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
FishersGate replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Phil Morris on a podcast didn't seem to impress me with what he said . He was asked about the future of the panthers and wolves and didn't really give a proper answer really. Just encouraged clubs to own the stadiums like Leicester and workington and accepted that if your a tenant you can't do anything..so what's he going to do? -
Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)

Can someone put the bed the rumour of one of riders handing in a transfer request please? Or confirm it -
If Leicester win I hope the bloody trophy goes to charity or sold to a fan it isn't worth anything at all. 'we won the 2022 summer trophy in 2023'.

Birmingham v Redcar bsn Wednesday

I swear I heard L Rogers say Birmingham will be a suprise package this year. I remember listening think ' il have what he's having'. Got to feel to the fans the team is poor. Too reliant on Morris and sedgmen.. -

Cook at reserve will destroy and Allen and Thomson -
I'd rather just put Joe n Dan in at reserve and use British talent . I can guarantee pretty much most of the Leicester fans aren't bothered the least about it. It's lost all its integrity and it never really had any to start with.

Poole will win easy. Leicester will just throw any team they can together . Be nice if we could get most from last year but I doubt it.

The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season

Social media side from a leicester point of view I think is weak. Just the odd photo and interview here n there. Just look at a football clubs social media it's posting atleast 3/4 times a day. Yes she loved Ritchie but doesn't get the rules why he's no longer with us. I said it's hard to explain and you'll get used to it. Problem is that I'm not even 30 yet and still got a little way to go so my generation has never seen a bike turn left yet (well most haven't) -
The future of British Speedway after the 2023 season
FishersGate replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There are some great ideas here but the main problem is how do speedway get back on the map? Promoters always tend to be quite defensive when they get stick for small crowds or just the general decline of speedway. I first took my partner to leicester last season and I asked honestly what she thought of it. Her response was ' I love it so much, the racing is great' anything else I asked? ' its like speedway hasn't moved on from the late 19th century'. For one she had never ever heard of the sport which is concerning. Point 2 - she doesn't understand why technology isn't used more in the sport and its years behind everything else. Point 3 - she said the social media side of it is absolutely rubbish. Wheres the fan engagement? Tik toks, Instagram, Facebook are huge is the effort is dreadful. The advertising is the worst she's ever seen Point 4 - The rules still don't make sense to her . The 2 minute rules, super heat etc are way too complicated Point 5 - She doesn't want to come back cause she wants the old riders back from the championship. She was liking worrall and Kyle howarth and now she's never heard of fricke or sedgmen..so she's not bothered now. I could go on but that's coming from someone who never heard of it and is looking at it from a complete neutral point of view.. -
Leicester vs Belle Vue 19/4/23
FishersGate replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've calmed a little now from last night. It was an enjoyable meeting but also frustrating. It's all about fine margins and we are just not cutting it enough. Against Peterborough we only just won and they had a heat leader missing BUT the track wasn't ideal for racing so difficult to judge. Home to Ipswich was a Doyle and Emil masterclass and I just came away thinking I've seen some class riders show us how it's done. This time I'm a little more concerned, allen is struggling if makes a poor start and makes you wonder why we just didn't just sign our asset Connor mountain ? His average would have been lower I think and is a English Leicester asset? Most of the fans I spoke to last night are going to be patient with Fricke. We all know he's a great rider and I think he will come good. Morris was superb last night and proving his worth at home. Lawson is Mr consistent, Harris is doing his job at 4 and sedgmen is been out best rider . Dan T was also better last night..just missing the final piece to fit which is fricke coming good. I'm a little concerned but also optimistic. Think if we lose at home to kings Lynn the fans may vote with their feet.. -
Leicester vs Belle Vue 19/4/23
FishersGate replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Completely agree. We got a point for losing? I don't understand..surely Belle Vue should just get the point ? Heat 15 and ending the meeting as a draw is a fair result. As for the lions I am concerned..were just making little silly mistakes and some riders are used.to the track. Still we have plenty of time to push on. -

Fricke will be given time. It's not just fricke that's started poorly at home. Allen has been disappointing so far and Dan T is finding it tough even at home. Morris hasn't even hit big number at home yet. BUT we've only ridden two home meetings and Dickson will give it more time.. -

Douglas is a decent replacement for Kurtz but still a weaker team without him -
Zagar isn't the answer. Holder is or was the answer. Just think the team was built too reliant of pedersen and iversen being injury free. It really isn't a bad side at all just had a dreadful stroke of bad luck that has knocked the stuffing out the team. If the promotion had moved a little smarter and quicker things could have been different. Have a little faith it's still early .

Leicester vs Ippo KoC QF 2nd Leg 17/04/23
FishersGate replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Interesting night of speedway with the main highlight watching Emil brake the track record. He was absolutely phenomenal and one the best riders I've ever seen at Leicester. Just a shame he wasn't riding for us cause he would be perfect at Leicester. Slight disappointed with the result. I think you could tell a few of our riders are still bedding in at leicesters track. Dan has been struggling but he is only 17/18 years old. Allen and max are still getting used to the track and that is probably what cost us last night. Only 5 points from your number 1 is concerning but I can't fault his effort to try re pass a few riders. Ipswich were too good and I think a little patience is needed with this team. I think we will know a lot more how are season is going to pan out after Thursday night against belle Vue. -

Yep it's weird cause one race Allen looks ok then next one he looks poor. Morris has been patchy and fricke is still getting used to leicesters track. -
