  1. Matt Ford spoke at the Coventry Stadium appeal. Brandon Estates brought in the odious Clarke Osborne to say that Speedway was dead and no one would want to promote speedway at Brandon if it was restored to former glories. Matt Ford spoke in opposition to say he ran a successful promotion at Poole, he knows Coventry is viable, and he would be interested in promoting Coventry. Whether his remit was just to testify that speedway is viable, and Coventry would be viable, or whether he is actually seriously interested in Coventry, probably only he knows. However he's not involved in Northampton.
  2. Woffinden has enough money, but he also has a family, and he's not going to take any risk pouring his hard-earned into speedway when he has no business experience promoting speedway.
  3. We need the new owner to throw a few dollars at Bartosz, get him over here... I'll go for: Jaimon Lidsey 7.87 Niels Kristian Iversen 6.71 Charles Wright 6.11 Rohan Tungate 5.89 Lewis Kerr 5.36 Foreign newbie 4.50 Jake Mulford R/S 36.44
  4. They could bring him along to the Northampton Speedway grand opening to meet his speedway Bartosz namesake... I reckon a 7 May opening night, and plenty of time to fit 10 home league matches in. If it all happens, I'll be aiming to be at opening night as long as I haven't got any other commitment.
  5. Agree totally. The sport faced a tough winter, and to come out of it with a 6-team league (as we've had in the past) is something of a miracle. Let's hope we can add Coventry and others for 2027 and really start moving forward. I'm hearing TV deals and corporate sponsor deals are making progress. Maybe if we had a bit more positivity from "fans" getting out there and spreading the message, who knows? Hopefully we'll see fixtures at weekend. Then we just need the news that Northampton have signed Bartosz...
  6. Jaimon Lidsey 7.87 Niels Kristian Iversen 6.71 Nicolai Klindt 6.46 Charles Wright 6.11 Keynan Rew 6.19 Anti Vuolas 3.36 Jake Mulford R/S
  7. PHB would be interesting, but isn't he banned for a month of the summer? He was also pretty expensive the last time he contacted a British club asking for a berth, and I'm not sure his style would suit British tracks, but he'd be entertaining.
  8. I can only see something like: Tom Brennan 7.05 Richard Lawson 6.83 Tobiasz Musielak 6.63 Danny King 6.50 Scott Nicholls 5.25 Jonas Jeppesen 4.34 Jason Edwards R/S 36.60
  9. Wheelchair access in the stadium is first class. It had to be because it's a modern build and in association with the local council. There's even a stairlift up to the referees box for the disabled. (no comment). Would be worth giving the club a call though, because obviously traffic is a nightmare for the GP and if you need to park close, they might need to find you a disabled parking place if possible.
  10. Weird that Ipswich are just referring to their new owner just as "Coleman" without his first name. The statement revealing the new owner on the Ipswich website doesn't use his first name https://ipswichwitches.co/mayfield-acquires-british-speedway-champions-ipswich/ And the statement that the new Ipswich promotion have sent to the BSPL again also only uses his surname. It's only in his open letter to Ipswich fans that he reveals his first name! Despite the teething problems with the new promoters' press release, I'm not going to be critical. The BSPL promoters I have spoken to recently seem welcoming of Richard Coleman and think he'll be an asset to British Speedway. Hope they're correct.
  11. I don't understand your problem. Ipswich Speedway Promotions Ltd is the company that holds the promotion rights to Ipswich Witches. Chris Louis is the sole shareholder. Chris Louis didn't want to continue, so his options were to pull out altogether (and have a near enough worthless company) or sell the company's main asset (the licence) to someone else. He chose the latter, and agreed to sell the club. Businesses change hands all the time. I might win the Euromillions this week and offer Buster a million quid for King's Lynn. I buy the club and its licence, and things carry on, just with a new owner.
  12. Ipswich Speedway Promtions Ltd committed to run at the AGM. Just the same as King's Lynn Speedway Ltd did (and the companies which promote Belle Vue, Leicester and Sheffield). Any could be sold at any time, but they all committed.
  13. There's no asset system anymore, so no one is being held back. I was told at weekend, that Ipswich news should be released middle of this week (I assumed to go in Thursday's Speedway Star) but things seem very hush-hush. Sources who are normally happy to spill the beans, are staying very silent, as if sworn to secrecy. Apparently there are no problems, and I can only think the new promotion was absolutely everything to be in place before they reveal anything. I don't know why they can't confirm the sale has been completed, even if the team isn't totally finalised yet. Are they planning a spectacular reveal of everything? Again, I can't even get them to confirm any team names, but I'll have a guess at: Tom Brennan 7.05 Richard Lawson 6.83 Tobiasz Musielak 6.63 Danny King 6.50 Scott Nicholls 5.25 Jonas Jeppesen 4.34 Jason Edwards R/S = 36.60
  14. Was his old account banned, or was it just the fact that, as so many put his account on ignore, he wasn't getting any attention? Well both his accounts can go on ignore now.
  15. Championship riders can guest in the Premiership, and often do.
  16. Fairly sue there was a South Coast junior, Peter Turle, around that time. No recollection of a Paul or a Terle.
  17. When clubs put information out on their websites and social media, they also have to send the press release to the BSPL Press Office. The BSPL Press Office then put it on the BSPL website and social media. If nothing about Buxton is on the BSPL website and social media, it will be because the Buxton Press Officer has sent nothing to the BSPL Press Office. (Since the BSPL have a link to the Buxton website, but the Buxton website is dead, that seems to confirm it is Buxton who are failing to get news out).
  18. No way. Don't put him on ignore. I'm keeping him very visible. He's a good reminder. Every time I see one of his comedy posts, it's a good reminder to check the threads to see if any local councils need a reminder letter. I suspect his days on this forum are numbered, and he will have skulked off before the Coventry Grand opening meeting, but if he is still here next year, I'm thinking of DMing him to offer to pay for his ticket to the first match of the season.
  19. Meanwhile this Manchester City fan isn't getting his hair cut until they are cleared of all 115 FFP charges
  20. Using the "ignore user" option works. You can also report spam posts to the moderators. Alas there doesn't seem to be anybody moderating, so the "Ignore" option is your best bet.
  21. JA? You must be Joshing, It's Jon Armstrong. Heard he's having a race-off against Tony Atkin and Gary O'Hare to see who gets the last Buxton spot.
  22. But it isn't. It's a moderately well-off man's plaything. If a Speedway team loses £100k in a season, that's chickenfeed to a "rich man" Look at football. Look how much, on average, a Premiership football team loses. Look at Championship football, look at League 1, Look at League 2. League 2 is most economical, but even there, each club will lose, on average, around £3 million a year. A £100k loss on a Speedway club is a bargain.
  23. Mayfield Sports is based at Silverstone in Northants, and has been since 2014. There's no connection between Mayfield's operations at Silverstone, and Northampton raceway at Brafield, except them being in the same county. Mayfield Sports Management changed their company name to Junefield Associates last May, and then set up a new company, Mayfield Sports Events, in August, which is presumably something to do with their acquisition of the Tech3 MotoGP team last year, and/or their acquisition of the SGP.
  24. What difference does it make? If they name the No.1 a week before the first fixture, or if they named him last November, none of the team are going to be riding until the first meeting at the end of March. It's going to be the same 7 riders regardless of whether they were declared yesterday or tomorrow. In any case, we all know who it is. My guess is that since he lives in the UK for the majority of the year, they are perhaps waiting for him to be free to hold a social night with him (just a guess). Who exactly are you defying if you pick and choose meetings? It's the same team and same meeting regardless of whether you are there or not. Just sounds like cutting your nose off because you had a hissy fit months previously. Similar with the new Ipswich owners. If they are making sure they have all their ducks in a row before revealing a full team, then good on them. Name the team last week or name the team next week, you're not going to see them race until the end of March, so it makes sense to make sure everything is perfect for March.
