Sheffield v King's Lynn 19/6/25

I’m sure we’ll be down by 6 or more at some point and will use a tactical instead of Harrison. Kvech will definitely be taking 7 though. Unfortunately, I think we will lose, but will be a lot closer than last time with R/R for Pickering and a less than 100% Rowe. 50-40 Sheffield 1. J Holder - 13 (5) 2. A Rowe - 7 (5) 3. R/R 4. L Kerr - 5 (5) 5. C Holder - 14 (6) 6. J Sedgmen - 4 (3) 7. L Flint - 7 (6) Total - 50 King’s Lynn 1. R Lawson - 8 (5) 2. N Klindt - 7 (5) 3. C Harris - 9 (5) 4. R/R 5. N K Iversen - 5 (4) 6. J Kvech - 10 (7) 7. L Harrison - 1 (3) Total - 40 -
James Pearson? Tolley did say a former Brummie…

If there was a track to come back in at you couldn’t have asked for a better one, and should readapt him nicely to racing back in the UK.

What another fantastic night of speedway at the Norfolk Arena for the Stars. Really didn’t have high hopes going into the meeting, and was expecting Ipswich to never get out of second gear and still win comfortably. How I was proved wrong. It great to see some atmosphere, and Lynn fans giving Witches fans some stick as they swiftly tried to exit after heat 14.

Let’s see if they apply the same pressure with Pickering. If not, then the common denominator is King’s Lynn…

Not sure if it’s still a thing, but does he not need to ride in the UK to maintain his visa status? I’m sure it been mentioned that he’s living in Poole with Middleditch and to continue doing that he has to have a UK based job. Obviously at the minute being declared injured is bypassing that, but when he is fully fit surely he has to be riding for a UK club? Will be interesting to see what the situation with Pickering will be after he crashed today. Will Leszno put the squeeze on him as well, and play the game with Sheffield?

Going to be a lot tougher than the KO cup meeting a couple of weeks ago. As said above, even a not 100% Doyle will still probably get around 8, which should swing the meeting in the Witches favour. 43-47. Stars 1. Lawson - 7 (4) 2. P Kildemand - 2 (3) 3. N Klindt - 5 (4) 4. C Harris - 9 (5) 5. N K Iversen - 6 (4) 6. J Kvech - 14 (7) 7. J Scott - 0 (3) Total - 43 Witches 1. Sayfutdinov - 11 (5) 2. D King - 8 (4) 3. A Ellis - 4 (4) 4. T Brennan - 9 (5) 5. J Doyle - 8 (4) 6. C Mountain - 2 (4) 7. J Jenkins - 5 (4) Total - 47

I get the reason for Jody at Oxford as he is familiar with the track. Having gone to the Young Stars meeting at the AFA in May, I would’ve actually said Jody looked more comfortable with the Lynn track and can certainly get out of the traps quicker than Luke. I think it’s fair to give them both one home and one away meeting and then make a decision based on the outcome of those

Ipswich vs Sheffield Thursday 12th June

It was a surprise to see him struggle so much at Lynn - considering what he had done the previous 2 years there… -
A solid enough win for the Stars last night, but as has been mentioned, the Brummies certainly made them work for it. 5-1’s at crucial times put the meeting to bed though. Can’t see Lynn winning the aggregate point with a 9-point lead to defend. It was more consistent night throughout the 1-6 - Harrison looked miles of it, but he gave it 100% for all 4 laps which is all we can ask for. Listening to Rob Lyon do an interview before the meeting I got the impression that there may be a team change in the not to distant future - don’t know if anyone else who attended picked up on that…
-
The team is fine if they all click together and are consistent at the same time. However, this is speedway and when does that ever happen? The way the 1-7 is built, all it takes is for 1 of the boys to have a stinker and then there’s no chance.

My personal opinion is I would prefer riders to go through the qualifying system to prove they’re capable enough to ride in the GP, rather than expect a wildcard based on their name, nationality etc etc. I personally think the wildcard system is a joke anyway. The SGP stated that “12 spots in the 15-rider line-up can now only be earned on sporting merit”. It should be the whole 15-rider lineup earned on sporting merit, whether that is through the SGP itself, or qualifying. I would structure it as follows: Top 8 automatically qualify Top 6 from SGP Challenge qualify SEC Champion qualifies That way every position has been earned by sporting merit, and not some joke wildcard pick, which are being wasted by not even selecting the riders who should be in the SGP anyway (Laguta and Sayfutdinov)…
