Swindon trying their best to throw this away -

Just think Kildemands all action never give up style brings something to the events, Pedersen was also known to go down easily as to influence a refs decision or to try to give himself a second bite of the cherry, i can see some resemblance tbh and the series needs that panto villain. -

Kildemand the new NP in waiting? Overall a poor meeting the track cutting up badly certainly didnt help, well done to Matej on his win and great to see Doyle increase his lead after last season i didnt think he would be able to repeat that form but if anything hes come back stronger, hope he now wins it totally deserved. Be interesting to see if he rides well within himself tomorrow. As someone else mentioned as there are so many of these meetings now they tend to lose that bit of magic that the one off final had. That air of uncertainty the whole season building up to that one special night, the tension etc. I know all the arguements for and against both but the GP comes no where near close to that atmosphere you could cut with a knife on world final night. Lets hope the next one provides a better spectacle which it should on a good well prepared track. -
The league table would point to Wolves being favorites surely as they finished above us after a full campaign? Having said that the tie could go either way, Nathan Greaves could be correct saying it could come down to the reserves, Wolves have two that will pick up the odd points that could make the difference, we have Dan and really no one else, both sides are capable of going well on each others track, but we are talking Belle Vue and the play offs here
-
Thought we made harder work of that than we should have, apart from Morris and Ellis the Robins didnt really turn up. The guests cancelled themselves out with Hans at least putting in some effort unlike Kurtz who may have well stayed at home but with monday looming he was never going to put it all on the line. But overturning a 15 point deficit after an opening 1-5 should give the side confidence going forward. I still think Poole could cause the Robins some serious problems on monday.

Sheffield V Glasgow Po Semi-final 21 Sep

Ours is a semi final too -
Out of Swindon, Poole, and Belle Vue I think we go the best at Monmore and have managed to keep the scores fairly close even on our last visit without Fricke and with Bewley picking up an injury. BUT this is the play offs and Belle Vue just don't seem to do play offs do we? Last season we did well at Monmore and I think didn't fail to reach forty points on our away travels, until we turned up at Monmore for the final 1st leg, we then turned in our worst away performance of the season, a capitulation, and it wouldn't surprise me to see it happen again. At the NSS Wolves top four can all go well Howarth can sometimes be a bit hit and miss, at reserve Wolves I think have the advantage and a lot depends on Bewleys fitness. I hope Fricke and Thorssell are riding if r/r was introduced for both think it would benefit Belle Vue at Monmore and Wolves at the NSS. Its very close to call between the two but I think Wolves will go through and retain the title as Poole or Swindon would get wiped at Monmore.

Im 20 minutes away and its bucketing down. Track can take rain but prefer it to ne off than a gate and go fest on in tricky conditions. Meeting is too important for that. Swindon Vs Poole - Posf2 - 25 Sep

I went for Poole over the two legs before the Wimborne Rd leg, Swindon should now be able to capitalize on that slender lead but it wouldn't surprise me if Poole pulled something out of the bag, Doyle will no doubt have one eye on the world championship and who can blame him could that inhibit him in any way not being willing to take risks etc? its evenly balanced and will be interesting if Poole get off to a good start as they did in the first leg but without the bad luck. -
Quite well I would think, just feel the track will suit his style. As for Greaves I didn't think he would amount to much but I was wrong hes really improved this season and is also scoring good points for Ipswich so fair play to him. Always good to see a young English rider show improvement, as long as he dosent continue it tonight

With a fully fit complete side we definately could beat any side over two legs, Fricke has come back well but how will Bewley go on his return from a lay off? Smith probably wouldnt have scored much probably 1 or 2 so not a great miss but losing Bjerre would hand it to Wolves on a plate. Im not up on the rules but i would have thought that as the SEC is a re arranged fixture the play off semi would now take priority? Is it down to the rider? If so he wants to remember who gave him a job when Coventry sadly closed down. If Bjerre has no choice and we cant get a guest then thats it for me a total joke, the whole season wiped out in one meeting due to British speedway being so insignificant. Its not as if Bjerre is challenging in the SEC as hes been dire during the series, ironic he missed the 2005 final due to injury and the same rider could miss another p/o meeting due to this farce. We really are not destined to do well in this system at all are we? Without a number 1 the second leg will be just a formality, glad I decided to wait on buying my ticket.

Swindon - Belle Vue Koc 1st Leg 14.9.17
bellevueace replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
After Newman and the goggles incident we always seem to be on the wrong end of these things, hopefully what goes round comes round eventually because at the moment we are going to need some divine intervention come the semi,s the way things are going. -
Do We Still Need The Play-offs
bellevueace replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Because if your not going to finish top that's out of reach but you have qualified for a play off place the rest of the matches are academic, you are right they would still be meaningless without the play offs too but the play offs were supposed to eradicate meaningless meetings, which they never will for the struggling clubs ie Leicester who were never in contention. With only 8 clubs half the league qualify, if we had say an 18 team league like we used to have half the teams would be riding the latter half of the season with nothing to ride for anyway. -

Do We Still Need The Play-offs
bellevueace replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Im of the opinion that the team that finishes top of the league at the end of the season are the real champions as they have had that consistency over the whole year not just four matches. Having said that we now use that system so we have to go with it. The thing is it was supposed to be a system that would give clubs some incentive if they were not going to finish top of the pile and also give the qualifying clubs a couple of good paydays. Now at Belle Vue we qualified for the play offs a while back so the remaining matches were in effect meaningless as we were not going to finish top. Thus we have seen crowds drop over the tail end of the season, question is will a good crowd on Monday and also for the final if we get through compensate for the lost revenue in the regular league matches that saw people stay away waiting for the play offs to begin? -

Etheridge for Bewley = game over for us, if Dan does ride Monday cant see him being fully match fit along with frickes recent injury I think both the Robins and Wolves will cash in, it would have been hard enough anyway without the injuries. Should be a good run out for BWD though. -
Whilst we can go well at Monmore we make things harder than they should be at home, Lindgren, Thorssell, Masters, and Schlein can all go well at the NSS and can do a lot of damage. We need Dan and Max back to their very best if we are to go through over the two legs. Max as we know struggles on the smaller tracks so he needs to overcome that in the second leg. We might have come out on top aggregate wise over the league matches but that counted for nothing last season when we capitulated at Monmore big style with our worst away performance of the season when it mattered most. Add to that the fact Jack will find points very hard to come by as he has done all season and I think Wolves will edge it over the two legs. Lets not forget these are the play offs and BV just don't do play offs do we?

Poole V Swindon Semi Final 1st Leg 11/9/17
bellevueace replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst the track was patchy and as the riders stated unpredictable it made for a very good meeting, I really enjoyed that with both teams going for it and a bit of needle thrown into the mix. Poole had a bit of bad luck early doors when they could easily have been eight points up but came back well in the last two heats. I don't think the second leg is as cut and dried and some seem to think, Poole have gone well at Blunsdon in the past and I think they will give it a good go. -
Poole V Swindon Semi Final 1st Leg 11/9/17

Yes it certainly has a dodgy ring to it bringing in Newman after BWD performed so well at Peterborough, the irony is some Poole fans blowing a gasket accusing Swindon of cheating when they themselves have defended their own club pulling many stunts in the past, then it was down to Matt being ahead of the game, now its Roscoe cheating. Some of Poole,s behaviour in the past pushing the rules have led to this win at all cost attitude which in turn leads to bending the rules, epitomises the sport at the moment. As Newman is a Poole lad through and through he could aid them with a poor showing for the Robins or want to stuff it up Matt for his earlier sacking. Either way the outrage has more than a tint of irony about it.
