Well, this evening he has been posting on Instagram about next season and that he has signed his first contract for ‘26. I told him I would put Wimborne Road in the satnav and he replied by telling me to hold off on the postcode! Then he posted the following photo…notice the strategically placed pen…😉

For the avoidance of doubt… Due to the current situation we find ourselves in, having a Premiership is the best way to promote the sport back to a level that we had in the past and for the sport to truly prosper again. That’s why I didn’t want one league. However, where we currently sit sees one league an inevitability. IMO that will only see the slow decline of the sport in this country till the death rattle in a few years time. That’s why I say be careful what you wish for.

There’s a certain other ‘2030 vision’ that will kill speedway dead in the water…if you read Speedway Star a few weeks back you’ll know what I’m on about.

I never wanted one big league. If you are trying to build the sport again in this country and bring in new eyes, there’s no better way to do that than by promoting that we have some of the world’s best racing handlebar to handlebar. The young age demographic, which is what the sport has to be aiming for, get attracted by ‘superstars’. One league now looks inevitable. For those that championed this, be careful what you wish for…

Alfie Bowtell has just announced on his social media that he was advised by the club on Wednesday that he isn’t part of the Gladiator’s plans in ‘26.

From what I understand it is still being pursued but was never going to be for ‘26. 2027 far more likely. The site isn’t Surbiton Raceway, it is the go kart and motocross track on Beddington Lane. Let’s hope it comes off, God knows we need some good news stories at the moment.
