What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
WookieboyDon replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We won't be seeing Tai in the Premiership next season (if it runs). Has announced a deal with Dackarna today. -
This is not good for speedway in this country...in any way, shape or form. In fact, this now moves the situation to dire IMO. An outside of the box, forward thinking and progressive promoter now no longer wishes to stay at the table. "Some things no longer align for me..." That line tells you all you need to know. š
-
If that last part IS true then Stewart Dickson has a decision to make...
-
That's not a definite. His Polish mechanic was quoted as saying that Tai was going to concentrate solely on Poland. However, just a couple of weeks later Woffy then said himself he hasn't ruled out racing in the UK next season, his phone is always on and is willing to talk.

I think there'll be more of that over the winter and into the spring to promote the new season. It's the stuff going on behind the scenes regarding his numerous contacts and potential new sponsors...

This should not be a surprise. The man is a class act... -

The delay (if true) is more than likely for a number of reasons, relating from Sheffield and Northampton to bagging new sponsors and, most important of all, a new tv deal. If the latter is still under negotiation, then they need to give it time to hopefully be completed. After all, if they do get one sorted then it would have a big bearing on league structure and who is in what league based on tv money. We just need to be patient. This isnāt a time for knee jerk reactions. -
Tried to sign Bewley and spent too much time trying to make it happen when the chances were pretty much zero...

Extraleague 2026 fixtures , TV etc

I didn't write that they hadn't secured the money...I wrote about their debts. Which is proven. I didn't have anything to apologise for...you on the other hand... -
What about Northampton?

Not false news. Facts that came from official sources. As has already been proved by the club since. Iāll wait for the apologyā¦š¤ -

With Pete Adams as TM?! -
Bewley being at Ipswich next season is as likely as Emil being there. Peter Shroeck went down that route of pursuing something that was never going to happen and paid the priceā¦

Bye Emil. Thank you for your class and the memories.

Zach Cook will not be racing in the Championship next season

Makes no difference to the point both you and I madeā¦

Iād fact check before making comments like that. Blatantly not true. They are great at plenty of sports as already mentioned in another post, not to mention that they have one of the greatest female tennis players in Iga Swiatek who is a four time French Open champion, has won the US Open and the biggest of them all, Wimbledon.

Itās been announced in Poland today that any rider affiliated with a Polish team in their top two divisions in 2027 will only be allowed to compete in one other foreign league. Thatās going to put some cats among the pigeons.

Philip Hellstrƶm Bangs
WookieboyDon replied to WookieboyDon's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The two youngsters Iād love to see in the UK next year are Nazar Parnitskyi and Adam Bednar. Big fan of both, especially Nazar but canāt see him here next season unfortunately. But Bednar will light up the tracks here if he signs for the Stars. -
Reports coming out of Poland today suggesting Philip Hellstrƶm Bangs will be giving the Ekstraliga a miss in ā26 and his priority is a ride in the UK. If so, where will he end up?

Speedway Star Deliveries
WookieboyDon replied to bellevueace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Normally arrives either on a Thursday or a Friday for me. On the odd occasion and it can go into the following week, mainly on a Monday but that is down to Royal Mailās unpredictability. -
Just back from a weekās holiday in Rhodes and on the second day I was wearing my Dan Bewley Wroclaw shirt around the pool. Later that evening while at the bar, someone appeared behind me and asked if I was Polish or English as he had seen me wearing the shirt. I replied English and he introduced himself as Andreas Bergstrom. We chatted briefly for ten minutes before I had to go. A few evenings later I saw him again and this time we spent the evening sinking plenty of whiskey and rum and putting the speedway world to rights! A top fella with a lovely family. Couldnāt speak highly enough about Berwick, the club and its supporters (less complimentary about a certain person who was at the club when he rode though!) His stories were brilliant, funny, eye opening and his opinion on a certain Swedish ex-World Champion was surprising! š His thoughts on speedwayās current crop were also very interesting, and his love for Bomber Harris oozed out of him. His fears for the future of both Swedish and British speedway echo many of our own, as do his ideas of how to promote the sport and turn it round. But as he said himself, there are too many people in positions of power who donāt want wholesale change for the better due to their own business interests. He currently runs his own industrial firm which is extremely busy but hopes to get some time off to come to watch the GP in the UK next year when hopefully we can meet up again. The only downside meeting him was that Iām still in the doghouse with the missus for chatting to him all night at the bar rather than spending it with her and our daughter! š¤£

From listening to the rumour mill, reading between the lines of his reactions to social media posts as well as talking to him briefly on social media as well, heāll be at Poole in ā26. Along with National League, Kings Lynn being one of those teams as he has a very close relationship with the club. IMO he is the best young British talent to come through since our current top two. The tassels and colour scheme make him stand out and that is exactly what speedway needs, something different from the norm that gets you noticed. I understand that Chris Louis was seriously impressed by him recently at Ipswich. Has already visited and tested at a few Polish tracks over the summer. Being a Wroclaw fan I am desperate for them to get his signature but I have a serious hunch that Leszno have won the race for that. He is our next big thing. Speed, great racecraft, brave, seems a great kid. Iām an unashamed fan and have already bought his merchandise. As a well known phone company a few years back used as its taglineā¦āThe futureās bright, the futureās orangeā¦ā
