  1. But surely the 'result' is the same. If team A scores 1 at home and 1 away and team B scores 2 at home and 0 away then team A wins despite the fact the score is actually 2-2. I can't see how that is any less stupid than the double points in speedway. For the record I think BOTH these rules are pathetic but it goes to show that it isn't just speedway that has stupid rules!
  2. Good post! Really pleased for Poland and Tomasz in particular! I love the way people are moaning about the joker - sorry but everyonr knows the rules and if Crump and/or Boyce haven't got enough grey matter to realise a second place in that race was enough then that's no ones fualt but their own! Go Polska!!!!
  3. Well that pretty much explains the reasons behind it - you obviously don't like the fact that a British born, aussie raised lad wants to ride for the country of his birth. He does - and did so pretty well over the last week - but this is still not good enough for you! Thankfully most of us aren't that petty and biased! Tai has always said he's proud to be the product of BOTH countries....he's honest about that and thankfully made his choice to be British. A true British supporter would be pleased about that!
  4. Ah but the point is that the ones who would most benefit from the track being unridable are the ones who are 'not happy'. Please don't tell me this is anything to do with them wanting a 'raceable' surface....
  5. Mogadon TV might employ him but sky ought to kick him into touch!
  6. Surprise surprise the aussies aren't 'ready to ride'. Tough luck...run the rst of the heats without them then. And they call US whinging poms!!!!!
  7. Nah Nicholls is so boooring he's sending me to sleep. Swap him for Sam or Floppy and I think you'll be right!!!!
  8. He's obviously spannering for one of the aussies though so he'd be 'expected' to wear the team colours. I'm sure there's people of all nationalities in the pits wearing the colours of the rider they're working for...I don't see the difference. As long as when Tai is riding it's for GB 100% - and no-one can say otherwise after Thursday! - I don't think it matters a jot what he wears or where he 'works' at other times. With respect HE did his job on Thursday it was hardly his fault Britain aren't here today!
  9. Oh lets hope so. AS I said on anohter thread this is the first meeting this year that I haven't had to either press the mute botton or shout 'shut the **** up' at the TV! Can we start a campaign to get this duo to do the job permanently? Agreed. Leave the kid alone. Does that mean that every person from the GB on here is watching purely as a neutral this morning? He wasn't in the Aussie pits on Thursday and was 100% riding for Britain so who gives a monkey's who's 'side' he's on today!
  10. Wouldn't wish ill on anyone so hope Mrs Pearson is okay. That said I think Kelvin is doing the commentator's job much better than Pearson. He's saying what's going on without bawling and lecturing the watching public....we haven't heard a single 'who SAID speedway is..........' all morning! Please, please can we have this 'team' more often. Louis is obviously far better at the 'expert' role than Kelvin and so far Kelvin is better than Pearson and Millard put together. This is the first speedway meeting this year where I haven't felt the need to either mute the telly or shout 'shut up' at the screen!!!! Keep up the good work Sir Kelv and Loubie!!!!!
  11. Nice to see he can turn up when he's being paid by sky to be there!
  12. But that works both ways....Pretend the 'other' rider wasn't Scott and look at it again.........Or better still - swap the two riders over and pretend it was Scott who got shoved when he was only having 'words' with the other rider who then rode him into the safety fence.........
  13. Unlike that nice quiet Scott Nicholls who's never been involved in any aggro in his life has he?
  14. Why are people who support non-English riders a 'disgrace'? Unless you bought their tickets you have no say in who they support and should mind you own business!
  15. As I said the other day on the other Cardiff thread, I know I'm getting on a bit but I really don't understand why people pay good money to go to an event and then get so bladdered they don't even know their own name let alone whose won etc. I went to see Oasis in Manchester earleri this month and some of the crowd were so drunk they could barely stand. One bloke in front of us lay in the floor for 3 songs until the St Johns came and carted him away. I'll bet he told everyone at work the concert was brilliant when in reality he saw bugger all. The same applies to the GP's....if you want to get drunk, save yourself some money, stay in the pub! Surely you're there to watch the speedway?
  16. I agree he wasn't pushed to the floor but he was unbalanced (some might say no difference there!!!) and slipped on the concrete due to his steel shoe. Holloway was definitely out of order but all this calling for him to be banned is a bit OTT to be honest. He didn't thump Nicholls - just barged past him. Really not enough to get steamed up over! I've looked at the incident again on youtube and it seems to me that both riders were equally to blame for the handbags job. Emil was giving Scott verbals but it WAS Scott who made the first 'physical' move in shoving Emil away. With regards to going into the pits gate....it's hard to know what was going through the riders heads but it seems from looking at it that Scott was trying to beat Emil into the pits rather than run him into the fence. I may be wrong on that but, as I say without knowing what the riders were thinking it is hard to say for sure. What is obvious is that EMIL thought it was deliberate, hence why he threw the first punch. From then on it was pretty much 50/50 - I don't think either rider 'won' the fight!!!
  17. I agree with you - let's be honest it was hardly at the level you get in ice hockey either. Both of them had their helmets on FFS they weren't exactly going to come to any harm! This isn't some new 'decline' in the behaviour at speedway - a few handbags after a dodgy incidnet have happened at every track in the country at some point. Some people on here would have had the 'vapours' if they went to Wolves/Eastbourne matches in the 90's.....if there WASN'T a punch up at some point then everyone went home disappointed! With regards to the Pedersen exclusion - someone on the TV mentioned that the refs may have been told to exclude SOMEONE if the race is stopped. If this is the case then if the ref thought Hans hadn't done enought to cause Nicki to fall - and HAD to exclude someone - then he excluded the 'cause of the stoppage'......in this case the bloke on the deck - ie Pedersen. In the earlier running with Bomber he may have thought that Bomber DID cause Hans to fall so exlcuded him. Although in both cases it should have been all 4/3 back imho it may be that the ref saw it as I described above. With regards to drunken fans - I enjoy a pint or two on occasions but I've never understood the mentality behind paying shed loads of money for an event and then getting so paraletic that you can't even stand let alone enjoy the entertainment. We went to see Oasis in Manchester earlier this month and a lot of the crowd were completely out of it - one bloke was led on the floor in front of us for about 3 songs before the St Johns carted him off....I'll bet he told his mates the next day that the concert was brilliant but in reality he saw NOTHING. The same applies to Cardiff - whay pay all that money to watch the speedway then get so out of it you don't even know who won until you watch the TV the next day!
  18. Interesting to see Joe Screen in the photo....didn't he say on live TV that he's on his holidays the week of the SWC?! Is he just included in the photo to make up the numbers then or what?
  19. Well I would say this I suppose but.... 1 Sam Ermolenko 2 Ronnie Correy 3 Kelly Moran I wish i could have more than 3 as I would also say Shawn McConnell, Scott Autrey, Steve Gresham and Shawn Moran. I've always been a big US speedway fan so find it hard to pick!
  20. But the ref wasn't wrong....just because the Nicki fan club want it to be so doesn't mean it is! The decsion was correct (IMHO of course) and Nicki just proved what a complete pillock he is by throwing a strop and breaking his finger!
  21. Wow Sub - I thought you and I were 'mates'....as i'm definiatley not an Aussie lover or a Belle Vue fan you must think I fall in the other catgory...thanks a bunch pal! Occasionally - JUST occasionally - you might be wrong about something...have you ever allowed such thoughts to enter your mind?
