Stead Or Kennett For The Gb Wildcard?
lupus replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would we even be having the conversation about David's home track advantage though if he was having the same sort of nightmare season as last year? The fact is that he is most definatly on form at the moment and if he gets the wildcard then so be it. When Monmore was announced as the venue I don't remember any posts talking about David's home track advantage.....Ah but that was becasue it was 'assumed' by many that David would be averaging 4 points rather than 8+!!!! -

Ah that kind of explains it then....so I suppose Lindback's nickname means 'Little Toni'? ETA: I just told my other half about the Inho thing and he said wouldn't 'Talentinho' or 'Chanceinho' be more appropriate?!!!! -

I must admit I always thought it was a bit of a play on words in homage to the Brazilian footballer Juninho! -
I was just going to say that Grachan. It's long been a complaint by many that there IS no kerb at P'boro. Away riders hug the white line and the Boro riders 'grasstrack' and get underneath them. The reason this doesn't happen at other tracks is precisely because there IS a kerb! We're not talking about a wobbly junior here, we're talking about a rider who has won one world title and is quids in for a second - he should know better!

Well said! Besides Fred's now got as many points from one GP as Nicholls has got from 3! -
I agree with this SL - I think the TV companies learnt their lesson after Ales Dryml's crash at Oxford. They showedthat in minute detail with loads of replays and close up's of Ales obviously having a seizure........horrible TV! Since then the simple crashes are replayed but they tend to hold fire on the more serious ones until they know the rider is okay (ish!). With regards to the camera work - this is, as others have said, the same camera work yuu would have got to see watching it on Danish or Polish TV. You can tell this because - despite the 'pretence' that they are there - when we lost the pictures briefly during the meeting there was silence from Kelv and Millard as they had nothing to comment on! Also when Nicki's red light came on they didn't comment until it appeared on the screens - surely if they had been there they would have seen it before it appeared on the TV! Fact is that they're actually in a room next door to Huewen, Sam and Billy and are watching someone else's camera work an commentating on that!

Now you see - all of the above people are saying pretty much what I said! I did NOT say that he deliberately or maliciously took Jagus off - I did say that the move he made was reckless and ill advised but I did NOT say it was deliberate!
-
THANK YOU Shawn - that's what I was trying to say! BTW there are only 3 other riders in a race.....I realise you're Welsh and a Coventry fan but I thought you might be able to count the number of riders in a race!
-
How can you NOT blame Nicki's riding for the crash? He went underneath a guy riding ON the white line and clipped the kerb.....or did his bike do this all on it's own?! HE and he alone made the decision to try a manouvre that was reckless and unfortuantly for Jagus and Bjarne, they took the brunt of HIS move! I am certainly not saying his intention was to deliberatly injure the other riders - however to say he was not to blame is wrong!
-
No it would still have been reckless - however it would have been reckless and lucky (that no-one got hurt) as opposed to just plain reckless!
-
Show me where I said Harris WASN'T reckless?

Rubbish - no way in 2007 is Lindback better than Freddie! He's going backwards as Fred is getting better! Freddie Lindgren - Number one Swede! -
But he was out of control because he was reckless in trying to make a pass that was dodgy at least! Nicki always reminds of the old joke about mothers-in-law and driving.....they've never had an accident but they've seen hundreds!!!!!!
-
Ah but you see it's okay to be biased against a rider for a reputation (however old that may be) UNLESS it's Nicki Pedersen!
-
Now anyone who doesn't like Pedersen are said to be biased and blinkered....surely that works both ways though?! I agree with Rob B (not something you'll hear me say often!) Pedersen lost control becasue he was out of control! He went inside someone who's wheels were on the white line, hit the kerb with his back wheel and this sent him flying out of control! He didn't NEED to do this - it was the first bend, he could have tried to pass Jagus anywhere over the next four laps but he chose instead to disengage his brain and open the throttle.....typical Nicki!

Return To The Old Ways Or . . . .
lupus replied to uglydave's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I have to say that I was one who was not in favour of the GP's from the beginning - I went to 2 GP's at Cardiff and saw nothing to change my opinion. I predicted that they would be the end of team speedway as we knew it. come the revolution Ole Olsen will be first up against the wall IMHO! -

Maybe he'd have done better last year if he'd taken that advice! Perhaps if he concentrates more on riding the bike than other activities he won't have to go round with the begging bowl next spring! (Hah - I beat Subby to it!!!! ) -
Cool - She's a bit disappointed that Chris Neath won't be at Wayne's meeting now cos Rye have got a meeting - I'll keep an eye out at Wayne's meeting!!!!
-
Proboably only going to make Buxton this year unfortuantly! Would have done Scunny but we're there the week before for Wayne's Farewell and can't really drag Gemma all the way to Scunny 2 weeks in a row! Also can't do REdcar for the same reason really. And Weymouth and Plymouth on a Friday night are just impossible! So we'll see them at Monmore and we'll do Buxton all being well! What about your lot?
-
Allan Ham? See I struggle after Wayne to name anyone with a 'lovable' Yorkshire accent!!!!
-
Thanks Steve - that was exactly what I meant!!! I love Wayne to bits but he does have a very obvious Yorkshire accent!
-
I'm just concerned how they're going to understand each other - Californian accent v Yorkshire accent - two worlds collide!
