The World Cup Trophy?
-
As I said on the Hans thread - we've been calling him Dive Bomber since he did a similar thing at Monmore last year!
-
Well he did do it at Monmore when riding for Coventry, yeah! Doesn't make the 'professional foul' any less cheating though does it?!

A Riders Reputation Preceeeding Him

spot on! -
He isn't known as DIVE Bomber Harris round these parts for nothing! It's not the first time he's done this! I don't blame Hans and the other Danes being peed off this time!
-
I honestly don't have a problem with the commentators being biased towards GB - I do, however, object to them being biased towards the Aussies! I mean, WHY?

Yeah right! suffice to say that if every woman stopped going to speedway you and your 'bloke' mates could watch in total peace........watch the bulldozers knock the stadiums down that is, as there'd be no teams left sunshine! On this thread and the Hans Andersen one, there have been MEN and women stating that they saw the incident differently to you - unless we have a higher than average number of gay male posters on here who also only see things from another point of view because they fancy the riders, perhaps people sometimes have a different point of view from your own! For the record, I was shouting for Team GB but thought the Hans/Scott was sorted out ON the track - twit for tat, end of story! And I haven't 'fancied' a rider since about 1988 - most of the riders these days are almost young enough to be my sons! -
You missed the point - I wasn't saying Zagar was the one who stuffed Bird - I was pointing out that Zagar is capable of such behaviour and as Bird has been on the recieving end, perhaps he should explain to Zagar what it feels like to get badly hurt by someone else taking them out in that way!
-
Perhaps Mr Bird would like to have a word with his ex-teammate Zagar.........he has a REAL talent for such manouveres!!!!!!!

Actually Robyn you can only expess an opinion if it's in blind support of the GB team AND if you're not a woman apparently. It seems that women are incapable of rational thought as they only go to the speedway to lust after the riders! -
Bsi Ticketing Policy

Better 25 minutes of action at speedway than 10 mins of anything interesting and 80 mins of time wasting, diving and aimlessly kicking a ball about!!!!! -
Bsi Ticketing Policy

Sorry but this is far too simplistic! Either you have concessionary tickets or you don't! Sure, sell advance tickets for slightly less than on the day but this is just taking the p***! A lot of people will have waited to see who qualified before deciding whether to go or not - especially as it's on SKY. So by all means charge £20 and £3 for kids beforehand and £25 and £5 on the day (or similar) but here's £75 they WON'T be getting for certain! -
Absolutely NOT - the complete opposite in fact! I have personally seen Mr Loram's sportsmanship first hand. When Wolves won the EL title in 2002 Mark not only went round and shook hands with every Wolves rider, but he did the same with the vast majority of Wolves fans as well! Meanwhile his less sporting team mates were storming round the pits with faces like thunder muttering about how the bloody play-oofs were a farce! On the other occasion Mark came round to the 10 Wolves fans who were at Arena last season when we won easily and gave US a round of applause! Now THAT's what I call class!!!!!! Spot on Melchie!!!! I must admit it could have been taken either way but having wathed it again, he does seem to be saying that he got me back this time but it might be different next time! I agree with both these points Mumsie! Nicholls was behaving like a six year old - at the end of the day Andersen stuffed him and he did the same back - twit or tat end of story. The handshake thing was pathetic! Pearson was doing my head in BIG style last night - He's an a***! Sorry but are you serious? Hello?! I'd call NOT taking my 5 year old to Reading for a speedway match when she'd got to get up for school this morning, getting my priorities BANG ON thanks! Besides some of us can walk and chew gum you know - or in this case watch TV an use the PC!

What I don't understand is that when Wolves rode at Eastbourne a few weeks agao (the night England played Portugal!) Uncle Bob got out on his tractor during a 15 mins interval and virtually relaid the track so that what was dry and dusty before the interval was as good as at the beginning of the meeting afterwards! It CAN be done but the skill and willingness to do it is a big factor IMHO!
-
No, no no - you couldn't POSSIBLY have heard that as we've ben told on here 1000 times (and Pearson kept going on and on about it) that the riders have 'too much respect' for each other and that no rider would 'deliberatly' try to fence another or take revenge for a previos clash! I thought i'd heard 'threats' of revenge from both sides too - but I was obviously hearing things as those God-like creatures in kevlars are incapable of such things................................

Middlo Is Another Sven

I'm with AndyM, Jools and JC! on this one.....as I said in my previous post...... So with what Shazzybird said about the family business, that means being England Team Manager comes at least THIRD in Middlo's list of professional responsibilities! Not good enough I'm afraid! -

Yeah I brought that one on myself! the point I was making was that to be a successful team manager you DON'T have to be an ex-rider.......you do however have to remember to engage your miniscule brain before each meeting!!!!!! -

Peter Adams has been one of the most - if not THE most - successful team managers in the last 30 years - and he's NEVER ridden a bike in his life! Being a successful manager does not mean you have to have ridden a bike! IMHO you use your captain to discuss on track things and the team managers job is to pick the squad, motivate and make tactical decisions. You do NOT need to have ridden to do these things! Therefore, why can't an 'armchair' fan be a good TM? I agree with SCB - what is Tim sugar doing these days? One of the best ever team managers, he'd do a damn good job IMO and with no conflicting interests (eg a league club to manage too!) he (or someone like him) could tavel round watching the potential riders as well as helping to develop youngsters for the future. I do not believe it's in British speedway's best interests or the team manager to do the job on the 'side'. We need a full time manager if we're to improve! -
Cardiff Attendance
lupus replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Agree totally Chris - it was only becasue the track was c*** that anyone ever got past! Meredith is obvioulsy not up to the job - if you saw the match at BV last week, it appears the guy can't produce a good race track when it's a permenant track so what hope is there for a temporary one? Get Bob Dugard or Doc Bridgett to have a go - they can't do worse can they?! -
This IS a joke post, right? So Hans Andersen isn't in the GP's because he stuffed Nicholls in the SWC two years ago....Get real! 'The boys that run the sport' aren't all British so why should they care what happened in that meeting. it didn't 'ruin the day' for the Swedes who won the title! Do try to pop your head out of the hole occasionally and see what's happening outside your own little bubble!!!!!
-
Above are the posts made by Grachan and myself back in October last year when the 'selected' riders were announced. The situation stank then and it is completely rancid now! Richardson is a joke and not a very funny one at that!

Cardiff Rooms Available

I have to agree about the novelty value! The first year was awesome - so much so we persuaded several other people to go with us the next year.....but the second year I felt slightly disappointed. The 3rd year I was bored halfway through and then got a migraine and spent the whole journey home throwing up! I haven't been since as, like 2nd bender says, I'd rather spend my money following Wolves round the country instead. To be honest I'm NOT a great fan of the GP's or individual events generally. To me the true greatness with speedway is that it's a team event. Lots of other motor sports are individual contests (both car and bike racing) - speedways big strength is the team aspect IMHO! -
The same would apply - Club FIRST! So in the scenario you've painted I would cheer for Nicholls, Hariis and Rich.....well at a push! I can understand why people feel they have to support their country but if there's one thing I can't stand it's hypocrisy! If you don't like a rider 51 weeks of the year and would rather eat the burgers at Swindon (Blerch!!! ) than cheer for them, why on earth does that change at a test match and in the WC?
-
What? Not even Lukas Dryml? And I don't suppose the fact they get paid for doing something they really enjoy has ANY bearing on why they ride has it? Get real kid!!!!!
-
What does that have to do with anything? You've said yourself that you don't like Dean Barker - is that because you haven't been invited to dinner or because of something he's done as a rider? FYI I know Peter Karlsson and Freddie Lindgren quite well - and they are great guys who are worthy of my support. I've also always found Mark Loram to be a very fair and likeable guy. I STILL don't get the point!
