Rye House V Scunthorpe 26th April
semion replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If Silver doesn't get fined over this one it will just show he is above and beyond. Imagine if all Promoters were to start doing it. Hopefully a fine will stop him pulling this kind of stunt. Shadders the principle is the same. -
Rye House V Scunthorpe 26th April

What's the difference between this and what Belle Vue did last season when 2 of their riders weren't going to make it ? -
Garrity seems to be cutting the mustard in the Elite. Maybe it should be asked what Rye can do for the rider not what the rider can do for Rye. Maybe he just needs a bit of TLC or is he a square peg in a round hole at Hoddesdon ?
-
So Garrity has a couple of off nights, so should be written off?

Seems Rambo Lambo can score freely for Kent, but struggles for Rye. Maybe too good for National League but not good enough for Premier League. It does seem a strange one. -

Scunthorpe V Cradley (national League) 13th April 2014
semion replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
I guess when Scunny are putting their team together they have to ask themselves are they better to go with a young 3 pointer who may improve given time, encouragment and track time, or do they go for a 6 pointer who has been around and is only likely to hit that 6 point average at best ? No brainer for a track like Scunny. Ok, That comes at a price. If the other clubs dont want the likes of Scunny in the League then they could discourage them by laying down a min points limit. Did Scunny enter the league get the green light by declaring that they were going to run with a team full of raw talent, or did they mislead the rest of the League ? -

As the saying goes its not where you start its where you finish. Lets wait and see how this squad develops. I seem to recall Scunny had a 2 year plan with the last lot. Year one no great shakes, year 2 was somethign else. cannot remember who was in the side, But i am thinking Birks and the 2 Worrells were part of it. Not bad a trio are they ? You only have to look what they Richie is doing for Ippo and Belle Vue and Steve is doing for Cradley and Edinburgh. Looks like other teams are also reaping the benefit of Scunny's development programme. Yet people want to come on here and knock it. Amazing. -

Halifax to quote you, that is nonsense....Actually no its not its just a different opinion to the one that you hold. Or maybe you think people do not have the right to post on here something that doesnt fit in with your thoughts ? Just a question you understand. If we take Scunny as an example. How many riders have they produced for the general good of British Speedway. Woofy, Birks, Worrells x 2 to name just a few. Lynn have also produced the 3 in their current line-up which will hopefully be for the great good of British Speedway. -

Dean, so thats 4 meetings ( maybe 6) in a season. So the other 7 teams are fighting for the crumbs off the big boys table. Wouldnt it great if Cradleys top meeting were v Stoke, and Mildenhalls was v Lynn. Not just a battle for who is paying out the most to capture the trophys in the 3rd tier of British Speedway. I saw that some of lads Scunthorpe have signed are travelling big big distances just a for a team place. All credit to these lads and their parents, but is it rather sad that a lad from Kent cant be found a team place in Kent etc. -

So Scunny, Lynn and maybe Buxton decide they are not prepared to finance a team at this development level, so you are still left with 5 teams. I thought the idea of a points limit as to at least start with an even playing field. As in most walks of life Money talks and the bigger clubs can cheery pick the riders they want. I think I read in this weeks Star that Scunny and Lynn are paying a tenner a point, so thats the level playing field out of the window straight away. Cradley ( Dudley) had a great team last season, How many of those riders are elft from last term ? Yet most expect them to knock 7 bells out of most teams again this season. The question I am asking is, is this really good for Speedway ? Maybe Cradley/Dudley fans like to watch that kind of Speedway, I saw it at Lynn a few years back in The Premier League, and it became a bore fest. -

The difference to my mind is, the likes of Godfrey, Chapman, have the greater good of British Speedway at heart. Winning things at that level is not the main priorty. Other teams at this level have a different agenda. Ok, Lynn aint gonna produce 3 riders like Rose, Kerr and Lambert every season, the same goes for Scunny, But at least you can see what they are trying to acheive as a bigger picture. I am not sure the same could be said for certain other clubs at this level. -

If teams don't like what Scunny are doing they could always move up a League, instead of buying this League. -
Simon Lambert. Thought he had reached the bottom, but surprising he hadn't.

That Heathens side looks awesome. Can see a lot of 5-1 Heats for them around Monmore this season. Will fans lap that up or have they built their side to strong for this League ? Didnt quite understand why Cradley didnt move up a League, surely that would have offered the fans more entertainment than they are likely to see in The National League this season. -
