Absolutely terrible performance from the hosts, 3 heat wins all night for the Brummies. Track offered little, one line an inch from the fence. Edinburgh only needed 4 riders, 2 of whom got full maximums. Harris wasn't gating but was involved in the only two heats which can be considered "races" of the night, heat 13 battle for a point with Worrall and heat 15 with Pickering. Thomas and to a lesser extent Morris performed acceptably and if that was the real Grobauer its a shame he didn't show up in May. Hat's off to Ruml & Kemp, barely scored a point between them but at least they were trying different lines in an attempt to pass. Hopefully that immediately forgettable meeting won't be the last at Perry Barr.

It was OK last week, the evening closures stopped on 17th September I believe. But it was shut all weekend. If I know the M6 J10 is bad I can go M5 & Black Country Route home, yes it's slower but it's far from disastrous.

Dillon Ruml was Plymouth's best rider on their visit to PB.

My attendance at this is dependent upon me finding a petrol station in Wolverhampton that sells some unleaded petrol!

Weaker. Two rides for Castagna, one each for Shanes & Morris. Unless averages have changed recently. Frankly two rides for each reserve is likely to yield more points than Grobauer.

It wasn't a great advert for Speedway but conditions taken into account it was decent, enough. Just shows the benefit of having a few riders who'll give their all regardless of track conditions rather than riders who only bother when the track suits them

Well if that was the final outing for the Diamonds and the final league meeting at Perry Barr it was as forgettable as it was historic. Dusty from heat 1. Newcastle generally subdued with the exception for Barker. Heat 5, what I could see through the dust looked a cracker. Harris seemed to have an extra 50cc to everyone else, didn't matter if the gated, didn't need to. Smart first corners and riding the fence. Roynon winning heat 14 made me smile, allot of water under the bridge, broken bones & years have passed since he was a Brummie. But for injuries he'd have broken the PB track record that year many times easily and been so entertaining in the process. Still not sure how Brummies didn't score 60. The awarded heat was a dreadful decision. Shanes was up Wright's exhaust and Roynon was up Shanes' when Thomas fell.

Every meeting I've attended I've brought a bottle of water with me, never been questioned so wonder when that occurred. Prices in the stadium are disgraceful, but it is the same at all sports events.

Enjoyed that exercise in Panthers average reduction -
2nd Event was safer, but less interesting to watch, shame USA were in first semi would have been a better tussle for top 3 had they been involved. Latvia & France progressing means there are a couple of decent spoilers in the final, but no more than that. What's happened to Bogdanovs, Kostigovs & Puodžuks for Latvia?

I remember Nagy, Long Eaton & Matousek. Think I saw Nagy ride once - at Loomer Rd I think, went to Long Eaton once Saw Matousek many times, he wrestled his bike around a track rather than rode it - always exciting at Dudley Wood & Brandon, quite scary at Monmore. Didn't visit Owlerton until early naughties, so never saw him there

You can't do that, didn't Latvia eliminate Denmark in Denmark a few years ago - back when it was Speedway World Cup? Imagine if the next bright young talent is Italian (for example), you've got to give the rider opportunity & experience against the best riders. Sándor Tihanyi & Zoltán Adorján used to make the World final every year in the late 80's haven't heard of a Hungarian rider for years. Same can be said of Norway. And New Zealand dominated for a period before my time.
