rob weve used the trains every year so far and catch them back to Newport. A good service and plenty of trains laid on. And you can have the usual joke with the chap in the flourescent jacket with the megaphone shouting "Newport trains to the right". Every year we go up and ask him which way we go for the Newport train

Corny How about sending me an e-mail - we dont fly from Coventry Deb More than welcome

i think the draw is important Subedei, but only depending on the track conditions on the night. For instance in Sweden it was very noticeable that gate 3 was rubbish all night long, and in the first 4 races the 3 gate produced no points (including a last for Tony). I think the inside gates in the GP are the ones you want later in the qualifying races ie Number 2 gets gates 1 and 2 in their last two rides whereas rider 15 gets 4 and 3
-
Wow Matt how did you get all four together in the same shot in Heat 2 Lindback, Pedersen, Rickardsson and Gollob That is a really good shot
-
Unfortunately two people have had to withdraw from our trip to sweden at the weekend due to an injury - get well soon Steve If anyone is interested in the details of what is happening, please e-mail me and i will get in touch. There are now 6 forum members going - but the other 2 places are currently paid for and if there is anyway of getting them some money back then come and join us

Steve, I dont want one Cheers mate

Ive still got my King Kelvin board somewhere from the 1990 season, got it 2 weeks before he won the British Final - superb day. He will always be popular with any Bees fan between 1985 and 1990, mainly because he was one of our best ever riders, and his Heat 15's with TK were just awesome. Got a lot of stick from fans of other clubs, and still does - but the guy is a speedway legend. Did tend to have one "bad ride" in a lot of individual meetings, but he won so many races for the Bees, he is one rider that should also be honoured by the sport, and Coventry in particular when he does stop for good.

Like I said on the tommy thread, Rick was a proper team bloke and a team man through and through. My memories of Rick now Ive had time to have a proper think 1) World Final 1990 - an amazing day weather wise and an amazing meeting as well - rick did everyone proud - especially himself, and beating Per was an awesome race. 2) His engine falling out during Tommy's testimonial - whilst probably expensive, was so funny to watch. 3) Numerous injuries at times when he seemed to be running into form. One bad crash he had with Foxy at Bradford - both got hurt quite badly. 4) Just being a top team man, even when he was having a stinker of a meeting 5) Being part of the 2 best ever bees teams since ive been following them - 1987 and 1988 - absolutely magnificent days to be a Bees fan. Being in the film industry Rick you must have made a few bob now enough to book yourself a flight over in June and take in the Cardiff GP mate - then you'll see how far the sport has changed since the wet nights at Belle Vue etc (actually Belle Vue is still bloody wet ) Take care Chivs

Rick not only was a nice bloke, but beat the worlds best when we least expected it - and also had a few "surprise defeats" as well - but he was a team man and Bees through and through. Couple of memories of Rick His engine falling out of his machine during TK's testimonial think it was. His own testimonial meeting was awesome Remember him and Billy having a nasty van crash on the way back from Oxford I think it was. Again Rick you were a top bloke, and i for one would like to thank you for all the entertaining you did

Tommy K was just special. He was one of a handful of riders who you would say was unlucky not to win the world title. Watching him during my growing up years, was something that i will keep with me as a speedway memory. His Heat 1, 6 and 10's with David Bargh and Heat 15's with Kelvin were great. Also he team rode with rick Miller extremely well and also the double J. I remember him winning a couple of the early GP rounds as well, until a broken collarbone (cos of the front wheel spoilers that never took off) putting paid to his chances there as well. He is certainly a Coventry great
-
Spiegal i appreciate your advice and thank you for your assistance. Ive just asked if anyone wants to come to a GP for as cheap as we can get there in a weekend - a bit like a no frills weekend. if the mods want to delete the thread, then thats not a problem

I have put together a bit of an intinerary for a quick trip to Eskilstuna for the Swedish GP on May 14th. This will include the following leaving the Cov area around 5.30am flying at 8.35 from Stanstead arriving 11.40 GP on the saturday night, staying at the stadium till late-ish, before making way back to the airport for our 6.40am flight back to stanstead arriving 07.40. back in cov area 10 ish. approximate cost at the moment is around £110 each, including contribution to petrol from cov to stanstead, return flight, car hire and petrol in sweden, and ticket to stadium. Obviously if people wanted to meet us at Stanstead, then that isnt a problem. No hotel is included, as we will be having maybe an hour or two kip in the car at the airport or even on a bench or the floor (as I have been known to do in the past ). If you are interested, please post on this thread and I will answer any questions i can. Only downside is the possibility of a rain-off - but that is the chance you take! Could be a good forum get together!!

Line up for final grand prix qualifier
Chivs replied to Govinder's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bandits, I would rather watch Stuart in the Gp's than Kaj Laukennan and Bo Brhel for sure. If he does pull off a miracle and gets one of the first two places, then he will have deserved it. C'mon the brits -
