  1. We're talking about SGB lower league speedway on a Sunday afternoon though so not the best comparison.
  2. I understand the explanation but think the criteria for refusing a date offered to clubs (ability/willingness) needs to be tightened in today's disorganised sport.
  3. True on the first point and: Rathbone added: “Under normal circumstances we wouldn’t be running on that date, but it is simply a case of there being no alternatives" Panthers are aware of the date clash between their Sunday double-header and the football World Cup Final, but the meeting does need to go ahead due to stadium availability.
  4. Always two sides but shocking on the face of it.
  5. Why anyone else reading this below from the Lakeside website would make plans based on a Peterborough press release is a touch baffling: "The next meeting at the Arena Essex Raceway, will now be on Friday the 13th of July, when the Sheffield Tigers are due to be the visitors. Cook continued “This meeting however, and all our other Friday meetings, mysteriously disappeared from the official BSPA fixture list at the end of last week and although the club has yet to receive any explanation from the Association, the SCB (Speedway Control Board) has reassured us on the continuation of our season, but has asked us to move our meeting with Peterborough from crowded Fridays to ease the problems one or two clubs are having with guests, which we view as an eminently sensible request to solve this situation “We have a (BSPA) Association meeting next week and I expect the matter to be sorted easily there. The Association by its name is there for all clubs and not for the few, as the few can’t race against themselves. A problem has been identified and there are enough speedway related brains there to sort out the issues in a fair and even manner, and one which doesn’t present clubs with a situation that could prove terminal to their season. We’ve lost one speedway club this week and I’m sure when my fellow members attend next week, the gravity of that situation won’t go amiss when all matters are discussed.” Strange policy to knacker up some clubs for the greater good when it's effectively panic mode and the usual self interest!
  6. Well going by the BSPA fixtures for July I'd hang fire until the powers that be confirm
  7. The formula, Rob Godfrey's suggestion allegedly, for future stagings was made in tandem with the 2018 Redcar staging decision. Peterborough knackered the plan by winning the damn thing again in 2018!
  8. Subtle as a Rottweiler with a fluffy collar, Tesar wouldn't be looking twice at that.
  9. Apparently the BSPA have gone with the Eurovision formula whereby the winning team will traditionally be given the honour of hosting next year's competition. Therefore Panthers go for the treble in 2019, assuming that we haven't got ambitious within the same leagues structure, at the event's traditional home.
  10. Over an apparent SGP Major event, just about sums up the situation and organisation.
  11. If so shows how weak they are and how pointless UK Sunday speedway is if they entertain riders who want their cake and eat it!
  12. Perks was ok when he got dialled in. Given a run he'd be the equal of Grondal, so from Finsbury Park to talking cobblers, no change there then!
  13. That top 4 have to be fit and deliver though and that's a problem. None can have an off night as Morris did last night. Teams like Peterborough don't have weak heats and anyone can surprise at any time. I agree that class should tell over two legs but whether it does is open to question.
  14. That and 2 duff reserves did Lakeside. Looks like the one year strength in depth will pay off, whether planned or due to circumstances!
  15. What, don't arrive early and bring your own sustenance!
  16. They've been like that for the last 15 years but we were treated better when Bratley was doing the negotiating and then Frost/Mahoney/Oakes/Swales had the wads to get their way on plenty of occasions I'd imagine. It's only the last 5 years that the tide has changed for whatever reason and unhelpful issues occur on a more frequent basis.
  17. Not really. Pretty basic stuff to have event catering at an event. It's somebody's fault that it wasn't there, even though the EoES call the shots on this as far as we know. Somebody who arrived early must have noticed. It's not the end of the world but unfortunately is a touch mickey mouse looking which is a tad unfair.
  18. But that's fine when you know but when was the last time you went to an event when catering was AWOL without good reason or notice?
  19. Nobody has ever mentioned silence in that respect and nobody is asking for a running commentary. When the ambulance has moved off track and is sitting well behind the pits then I doubt that that is the case at the EoES anyway. Of course life is more important than entertainment and thankfully life threatening and/or very serious injuries are rare, so for the most part it is entertainment with paying customers to keep happy as well as ensuring that injured riders get treated promptly.
  20. That's the problem during lengthy delays, people assume without actually knowing what the situation is. The one time that a roving mic and meaningful information would be useful and when I've been there it doesn't happen, although I bet thank you for your patience was uttered two or 3 times.
