  1. Second item. I understand that top of the agenda is 4 tractors starting at tapes for a flying one lap of track grading after heats 4, 8 & 12 with the fastest tractor doing 3 victory grading laps prior to heat 15. The Ippo promotion, who put the suggestion forward following fan pressure, are apparently salivating at the prospect and are keen to stage a BSPA main event of a Top Graders tractor 16 lapper!
  2. Speedway is a silly sport. That must have filtered down to Foxhole at some point? I appreciate that there aren't too many intellectuals down that way to understand speedway's current standing
  3. Lambert, Worrall and Shanes were the difference, hardly strangers to a big circuit. The rest got 2, 6, 5, 0: hardly call that scoring well. I'd say that we took the options that we could afford. People can't applaud financial security but then complain that they haven't got a guaranteed no1 and the like.
  4. I was going to use that but it would mean that anything we win in future is meaningless for accounting purposes so I thought better of it, We could go very PC like Ippo and just put "league" so as not to create a fuss.
  5. Not when you factor in degree of difficulty and importance of the respective honours
  6. Not sure if that was intentional but it made me chuckle.
  7. The right changes at the right time with the addition of some luck can possibly improve things but we're 11 years and counting so I wouldn't get too excited. As for looking at the tractor boys, I'd rather not if it's all the same.
  8. Firstly it isn't going to happen, and secondly, are you saying that Bacon doesn't give 100?
  9. Fair point but not a lot of sympathy tbh. Should have seen that potential conflict (if it exists) in the first place. They have a bloke, Bratley, virtually living on site (unless he's moved) who could have quite easily picked that up. I don't know if they considered that or approached him.
  10. The exclusion was announced as for going onto the centre green (another stupid rule given the action Well's (just rounding the tapes) took in the circumstances). Did the ref request it or did Overland just announce it? Just another case of communication problems, that's where speedway is amateur. You're right about the tapes though, they did seem to have a mind of their own. Wells should have just rolled into them, it's a good bet that they would have gone up on one side negating the need to go around them!
  11. Thought it was all going fine until the air fence got wrecked. It was a much slicker operation until then, all the more surprising considering Horley was in charge but fair play to her for keeping things moving. Much like a 1/2 hour delay isn't really acceptable when someone falls off not too heavily and sustains a minor injury, waiting that length of time for an air bag also isn't acceptable. It may have not been a straightforward fix but that's why there's a bloke standing there with a roving mic, to communicate outside of thanking us for (and testing) our patience.
  12. Looking at most of the reserves at this level, and with improved confidence of winning races I don't think that he'd be far off. That's the trouble with strength in depth. You need everyone to perform but they rarely do. If you build the team with a few race winners then the lesser lights often get dragged along with the momentum. It's a bit late to be questioning that now anyway. I'm not a great fan of Whoosh posts but will make a rare exception here!
  13. Lambert's a yo-yo rider. He'll do ok at reserve and struggle in the main body of the team. That's his level. I'd stick with him, he'll score when he drops. Bacon is the concern. Low on confidence and going backwards despite leading the field in the PB Today picture!
  14. I remember this though for the U21s: So that's 40 extra minutes for one extra heat and a bit more messing about given the nature of the respective events. I'd say that 9 - 9.15 latest should be the objective. Oh, and that's not a dig at you Dick. Speedway generally and Peterbough far too often, takes too long to run meetings when you break it down to the nuts and bolts of a minute a race.
  15. Whereas many don't like Sunday speedway, especially if it's around 4.30pm start. I'm sure 7pm isn't by choice. There is a 10-4 event at the EoES which says "Set within the spacious Peterborough Arena, spend a leisurely Sunday browsing" - that's not going to be so leisurely with 500cc bikes roaring in the background. Will be a good opportunity to hone our efficency and get the main meeting (no idea if there's anything after) done in 2 hours, ie. by 9pm
  16. Indeed. I've just read the posts here and still can't work out what the problem is.
  17. Thought my idea was better tbh . It would give more importance to his track shop waffle if he could say that cans of Mr Sheen are available in team colours for a Red and Black Attack of your dirty stand seat. To be fair though, like most things the EoES no longer care I guess as nothing else of importance goes on at the Showground these days and it's another add on that Rathbone doesn't need to deal with.
  18. Apart from the effort of cleaning your seat or clothes from dirty seats. We're missing a sponsorsip opportunity here. We could contact the Reckitt Benckiser Group plc to sponsor us with tins of Mr Sheen, which co-incidentally is an Australian invention, much like most of what's been good about Peterborough Speedway.
  19. Who said anything about dangerous? It's not very wide up there and it's an access route. It's also not like other options are limited. It's the complete non problem,
  20. Added to the fact that there was nobody standing at the back then that's a pretty good indicator that standing there is a bit of an issue now. The knowledge and communication skills of the staff shouldn't really need to be tested if people just think for themselves a bit in the first place. That's not to say that iainb doesn't have a point. We've all met the jobsworth type, but this really wasn't worth the excitable initial post.
