http://polrail.com/sections/travel/timetable.html for train times. There are plenty of trains to Torun during the day. The stadium is a cab ride from the centre of town. Torun is lovely though and I'd recommend an early arrival to sample the city. Post GP there are trains at 23:05, 00:50, 02:08, 02:42 then 05:22 between Torun Glowny and Bydgoszcz Glowna. Rico

Grand Prix Speedway 2011
Rico replied to westo97's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'd suggest that given the current fuss over silencers it would be a brave man to bet on anyone in the SGP at this stage. The following article was posted on yahoogroups by PolskiZuzel It should be noted that despite what the article states, Greg Hancock has denied signing or confirming an intention to sign the letter as he has not received a translation of the letter. It will be after the Leszno GP if last year is anything to go by. Rico

For your day off in Gorzow I'm not quite sure what to recommend. I had a look on trip advisor and came up with the following http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g274797-r69474130-Gorzow_Wielkopolski_Western_Poland.html We are still contemplating the GP there in October - originally it was definitely going to be given a miss, but with the U21 final tagged on it makes the trip almost tempting. We visited Gorzow a couple of years ago and while the stadium is fine (and going to be even better this season by all accounts) we didn't find a lot going on in the town itself - ok it was a Sunday, but it didn't seem to have a lot of oomph to it. Hey Dean, Hopefully you'll recall the day we met before, at Somerset - hopefully also we can meet up again in Bydgoszcz. I'll try and bring the locals to you. Pub Amsterdam wouldn't be a bad shout post meeting as it's away from the main throng and should see you/us meet all as required. Rico -
So, the question is then Dexter, how much did HenryW sponsor Pepe to ride in Bydgoszcz Rico
-
I also don't think Pepe should be able to come back in having apparently said he wasn't going to do any more round. However I will look forward to seeing him in action as he is usually good value around his former home track. My conspiracy theory is that (given this was decided before last weekend) having Pepe in and not Watt is seen as a possible advantage for the Polish duo at the head of the leaderboard and one less ally for Crump. He did last time Bydgoszcz went down - but I guess this will be a big test of loyalty. Fingers crossed for a swift return to the top flight. Rico -

I'm guessing that if Byd got a 5-1 they'll be in the race-off with 1st Divsion team as they finished above Czestochowa on points difference in the regular season. Sadly irrelevant now as Czestochowa will race-off now and Bydgoszcz are relegated again. Rico -

Swc Final, Vojens, 31/07/2010
Rico replied to Mateusz's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You can't series link red-button content, which is where speedway was heading before the cricket finished early. The programme for speedway was only scheduled from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, with some horsey event coming on at 2.30pm. They switched channels so it was available outwith the red-button, something I think they deserve a deal of credit for. Sky are far more likely to cater more for the fan sat there watching the action live than someone who is going to whizz through the ad-breaks. Agreed not showing it again could be critiscised, but then it was re-scheduled from Saturday. Is it the norm for Sky to put sport (ie a subscription channel) on anytime tv - genuine question as I can't get Sky. Had it for about 4 years before moving house to somewhere that can't receive Sky. I was fortunate enough to get hold of the other half between the hours of 1.30 and 2.30pm yesterday and get her to set up a manual recording of SS1. I ended up watching it live thanks to Sopcast anyway. Rico -
You did say they were there to be scoffed at - consider me taking you up on that Rico

Nurse, nurse !!! Danes I'm sure will make the final. Poles to triumph overall. Rico

Yes, result stands after heat 12 as all riders have had 3 rides. Rico

According to sportowefakty the show will go on, track work going on, rain has stopped. Rico

Scary time by the 16yo Russian kid, 0.94 seconds quicker than the other 3 heat winners. Rico

Good luck David - I'm jealous of all your jaunts. I've been to Gniezno a few times - it's a pleasant enough town, with a main square and very big church or 2. Gniezno was (a long time ago) capital of Poland, therefore there is quite a lot of history there. The speedway I've seen there has generally been quite good - I hope it's the same for you. Rico

British Riders In The Gp's
Rico replied to Topcat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think Hancock hasn't shown a lot this season and is perhaps on the wind down in the GPs. I think they'll find it hard to justify asking him back if he continues in his current form in the GPs, regardless of past glories. Rico -
British Riders In The Gp's
Rico replied to Topcat's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It will be interesting to see if Emil manages to make the top 8 upon his return from injury. If he doesn't, that will be one of the wildcard picks gone as he is a must for 2011. If no Brit qualifies from the GP challenge or finishes in the top 8 then do you think the organisers will hand out the two remaining wildcard picks to GB riders ? I'd like to think that they'll drop it to one next season as let's be honest that's probably one more than is deserved anyway. Also, in the current standings it's Nicki and AJ that occupy 8th and 9th, I'd have them both in the series every day of the week, but as things stand one will need a wildcard. Interesting times ahead - let's see how this one pans out after the GP challenge is out the way and the SGP 2010 comes to a conclusion. Rico
