  1. I completely agree with you, quite how people can post negative comments regarding the fixture list I find quite surprising, when it's not even known what riders will be participating. Yes, it's very different from the conventional team matches, but at the end of the day, it's still four riders turning left for 4-laps, giving it their all in the name of entertainment, something that is lacking at certain tracks in recent years. If I lived on the island, they would get my 100% support every meeting, and if I was a holidaymaker the weeks they were running a meeting, they'd also get my 100% support. In this day and age when British holidays are almost a thing of the past, 2021 is an exception to that rule, and if you check out the IOW website for things to do of an evening, you'll find nothing, with the exception of a theatre doing a show one night a week, and speedway, the only other thing on offer is if you take your family trolley racing round the aisles of Tesco at Ryde until 10.00pm. The people that sit on the top table running our sport, have seemingly done everything in their power to close this forward thinking club down, and thanks to the determination of Messrs Bishop and Widman, have failed. As many supporters round the country know, once their club closes down, seldom does it ever reopen, finishing up as a housing estate, or another supermarket. So I hope it is a success for them, they've put a lot of time, effort and money, travelling from different parts of the mainland on almost a weekly basis to get the stadium into what looks a lovely venue to visit, and you have only got to check out the cost of the Wightlink Car Ferry, let alone the cost of fuel in reaching Portsmouth, in their determination to ensure that Smallbrook Stadium isn't added to the defunct tracks from 2022 onwards. Bravo to all of you concerned.
  2. Yes, guess you are right. I just get frustrated to see tracks standing unused when they should be in the league, so I'll take back what I said, although I do prefer NDL racing myself.
  3. Sadly, the one league that produces good racing is disappearing quickly. I fear for speedway full stop at the moment. Something has got to be done at this level to get clubs like Buxton & IOW back up and running, the sport needs them.
  4. Quite true about the grandstand, and someone puts blankets over loads of them before the turnstiles are open, so can only assume staff are saving them for family and friends. But I'm talking COVID of course, don't know now, as I never go there. It's a bit like Germans and sunbeds!!
  5. I was in the car park at 11.45am as a number of people turn up around that time, and have a natter before we go our seperate ways inside the stadium. It was not raining or drizzling all the time I was there, which was about 15-minutes, but I'm told it did start again at 12.30pm. I made the hour long drive back home, and from that minute to 10.00am this morning, I've not seen another drop. Having said all that, the sky didn't look clever in that area, and I don't doubt what they say was true, so onwards and upwards, it's another day today.
  6. They forecast that on Thursday which resulted in the King's Lynn v Sheffield meeting being called-off, yet what we got was quite minimal.
  7. They've only redeclared the team with todays date, and nothing by the side of the team name stating a different date. Therefore they must have been guest riders in the meeting against Peterborough. Finally settled........................or is it????
  8. You can't trust the weathermen, but they got it wrong this time. I was in King's Lynn this morning, and they had some rain, but nothing that Buster couldn't have put right trackwise. Here in Heacham which is 13-miles away, just a light shower, plus bits of sunshine. But they made the right call in postponing it, because the forecast was bad. Sods law really.
  9. The way things are going, there might not be much more than that anyway..............or will there?
  10. Almost one week on, and still no redeclaration showing., so I'm guessing Cook & Starke must have been guests last Thursday.
  11. Thanks Neila, wasted my money on a programme....that's life!!
  12. Did Craig Cook and Paul Starke ride as guests, as there is no re-declared list on the British Speedway website?
  13. I don't understand all this stuff, are they showing it on either of their Eurosport Channels? I'm certainly not going to lay out more money to watch it on a mobile phone, we want to see it as a family.
  14. I want to sit and watch it on TV, and as I already have Eurosport available to me through that, I they now saying you've got pay yet more money to watch it through a different sourse, if so, they can stick it. We didn't have this problem with BT Sport.
  15. This weeks Speedway Star has advertised that you purchase the Guide.Programme for the European Championship from Curtis Sports. It goes on to say "Including Racecards to fill in as you watch at home on Eurosport". So I've bought the programme, checked the Eurosport 1 & Eurosport 2 listings for this evening, programme say 6,30pm start, but it doesn't appear to be on. Does anybody know why please?
  16. So am I, despite his problems from time to time, he's still one of the better British riders based in this country. I was amazed and disappointed to see his departure from King's Lynn, although there might have been very good reasons for that. Although he's joined our rival club, I hope he does a very good job for Ipswich Speedway, and wish him nothing but the best going forward.
  17. The BSPL should come out and give an open and HONEST explanation, because at the moment, it seems like victimisation for no reason. Riders aren't stopped from Grass Track Racing or for clubs and events overseas. For whatever reason, this sounds like a personal vendetta without hearing both sides of the story. Nobody on the IOW, whether it be management, sponsors or the public deserve to be treated like this, just because they have the balls to want to try something different. They depend to a large degree on the holiday trade, on an island that has almost zero entertainment for families in the evening, other than walking round Tesco that stays open until 10.00pm. Speedway has stood still for years now, and needs freshening up, and if something different from 15-races and the announcer saying goodnight, thanks for coming can be improved upon, then let them try. So many times these days, people have never heard of speedway, let alone seen it, and if they decide to check it out whilst on holiday (I know I would, as I did with a sport on Guernsey), and enjoy it, then when they return to their respective homes, they might just check out to see if there is a track near to where they live, and go along, and all clubs could do with those extra newcomers through their gates. So come on BSPL, ask for your toys back that you seem to have thrown out of your pram, and work with this promotion to see if their ideas are going to be for the betterment of the sport, and if it's not, then it will be their loss not yours. We've all been in lockdown for a long time now, and if this club want to offer us a different type of motorcycle event, with the main thing being speedway, then they should be applauded for trying to bring our well being back into some sort of normality.
  18. Masks weren't worn at Wolverhampton last night, so it seems clubs are making their own rules on that one.
  19. Such sad news, and I feel absolutely gutted for all the Somerset supporters.
  20. The website needs updating a bit George, it still says Kevin Doolan is captain!!
  21. Good to see that Kevin Doolan is still captain..............well that's what the website says
  22. Has he arrived in the UK yet? I've read somewhere today, that neither him or Jordan Stewart are riding at King's Lynn on Monday, but don't know how true that is.
