  1. Tut tut Racin Jason 72, you're running a real danger of contravening psalm 2795, so I'd be very careful what you say, otherwise action could be taken against you
  2. Oh no, please don't say this all going to kick off again!!!! Don't respond Proud Potter, it's not worth it. Boozer, I'm neither in agreement or disagreement with your comments, because I don't know what happens at Stoke. I've been a King's Lynn supporter since 1986 having previously supported Wimbledon since 1958. Needless to say, I've been privileged enough to watch all three levels of racing at the Norfolk Arena during those years, under the promotion of quite a few different people. Some I haven't liked. Some I've liked but not agreed with certain ways they've operated, but at the end of the day, it's their money they are pumping into the club, and they've got a right to run it how they want. As I say, there's been things over the years I haven't liked, and still don't, but none of these things have been aimed at me personally, so its not worth getting worked up over, as life is way to short, and in importance terms of one's well being, speedway or any other entertainment is a minor consideration. I'll be 100% honest here, as you know, King's Lynn operate in the Elite League, and whilst this year due to the Fast Track system, I am quite enjoying it, but prior to this, I hated it, and was gutted when they moved up from the Premier League, as it offers much more variety in terms of more teams and riders. I know for a fact that by speaking to quite a lot of Peterborough fans, that they are delighted their club has moved into the Premier League this season, and as I say, I can understand that, but that's my opinion alone. Also as you'll know, we have a National League team at King's Lynn, and with hand on heart, this is my favourite level of racing, and travel all over the country when finances permit, watching the different clubs race. However, going back to Stoke, if you've suffered personal abuse from anyone in an official capacity at what is now your ex-club, then that is inexcusable. But if someone at the club has responded on the forum to something you may have said that was possibly incorrect, and I'm not pointing any fingers at you before you decide to fire any shots in my direction, then you have to accept that gracefully, and either let it go, or continue the dispute privately. I've been to Stoke quite regularly, both in their Premier League days, and of course now their National League area, and I enjoy the present level of racing the best, but that's just my opinion and I of course respect your opinion if you preferred the Premier League when you used to go. The stadium and facilities are extremely run down, yet in a strange way, that makes the place quite unique, and maybe that's what I like about it. I've certainly always been treated with respect whenever I've visited Loomer Road, and hope that will continue to be the case, although there is one lady who needs to smile a bit!! A few years ago, I had a run in with Proud Potter over an issue at Scunthorpe, in much the same way you are now doing. It started quite innocently and got more and more heated and out of hand, and we both finished up saying things that were neither right nor wrong, and after a lengthy encounter, when we next came face to face, we shook hands with each other and from then on it was history. I've got to know Proud Potter quite well over the years, and he is a good and passionate man who loves his sport, and will defend the club he represents to the hilt, in the same way he would if anyone was throwing any insults at his family, which is something we all would do. Although I don't know you Boozer, I'd like to think that away from this particular dispute, you are a nice human being, and probably are. It's your choice whether you ever decide to go back to Stoke Speedway again, and I hope you do, but if you don't, please for the sake of your integrity, PM Proud Potter and make your peace. Your both passionate people who care about something, and need to discuss your differences without getting nasty, because nobody wins. I wish you well Boozer, and Proud Potter already knows I do him too.
  3. Many thanks for taking the time to explain that Skidder. It's great that there are so many kids about at the moment, and some of them look to have quite substantial potential too. I hope you win the final, especially as I'm good friends with one of your clubs promoters, I'd like it for his sake too. You're all doing a wonderful job, as I think I am when I post as many full MDL results onto the forum. It's a pity that room is isn't available in the Speedway Star to give rider points/ heat details and times for these junior meetings like they used to do with 2nd half results many years ago. Surely that would be of more interest to the true British speedway supporter than having two pages of grasstrack racing.
  4. Bet you didn't have a meal as well though.
  5. I agree with 95% of what Great Central says, the odd 5% being you were lucky at King's Lynn Incidentally, I went on your railway from Leicester North to Loughborough on Sunday, and enjoyed a very nice meal on the platform restaurant in The Sidings when I got back. The night before I stayed at the Premier Inn Central (A50) after having taken in an even lower standard of racing than the National League, that being the British Youth Championship, and what a joy of a meeting to watch. The Leicester public did the meeting proud, although it was a shame that one of the officials on the home straight was causing so much aggrevation resulting in heated arguments between himself and some people sat in the front of one of the stands. It was a case of him applying a rule to some younger people in attendance, but not to those who might have been old enough to fight back. One rule for one, and another rule for another can never be acceptable. Anyway, that aside, the meeting of 45-heats went through in 3-hours (none of these silly long intervals promoters please note!!), and the crowd level was higher than anything I've seen at any National or Premier League track that I've visited in 2014. What really impressed me was that when there was a false start for any reason, the riders returned straight back to the tapes, without any need to put them on 2-minutes. Had it been a 'Big Boys' meeting so to speak, they'd have returned to the pit gate for a virtual engine rebuild, but not the kids, they just wanted to get on with what they were there to do, race and entertain the public. Programmes sold out some considerable time prior to the start. I had a lovely journey home, taking breaks at places like Oakham, Uppingham and the absolutely beautiful village of Barrowden (I want to live there, but it's way to near Peterborough for my liking!!!). Monday morning saw me up bright and early to clean those pesky flies and bugs off the front of my car. It's white in colour you know, and boy does it show the dirt. I could have had a blue car, but do you know, I'm not to keen on that colour . After an early dinner I went off to represent Ringstead Bowls Club in a match against Snettisham, and we won 6-4. Well I say we, but I was a 'ringer' really, because I'm captain of Thornham Bowls Club, and the worrying thing is that we are playing Snettisham this evening. I know questions will be asked, and fingers pointed, something that would never happen at speedway , but I'll claim that the side was re-declared with the authorities late last night. For most of the day, I've been preparing articles for the Berwick & King's Lynn programmes (no snide comments about the KL pamphlet please) as I'm going on holiday at the weekend. I'm off to the Austrian Tyrol you know, and the long range weather forecast reckons it gonna p*ss down, but I don't care, because I've got an umbrella you know. Yes folks, they're on sale in the Track Shop at King's Lynn in a pretty shade of blue and yellow, even though as I mentioned with the car, I'm not keen on the blue part. The yellow is very fresh looking though you know, bit like a King Alfred daffodil, and I once had a yellow car, and it was a Ford Fiesta, but I won't go into that, because I have a white one now if you remember. Great Central might not remember though, because he's not as young as he used to be, but hey, he's a very nice man you know. Salt of the earth some might say you know. By the way, did I tell you I went to Las Vegas in March to see Celine Dion at Caesars Palace. I went on both the Wednesday and Thursday nights, being lucky enough to sit at the front both times, just in case she wanted to look into my eyes you know . But hey that's in the past, and next year I'm going to Texas, and I've already booked you know. On the first day, I'm visiting South Fork Ranch and having a meal there. I don't suppose Sue-Ellen will be there, well I hope not, because I much preferred that other bird, you know, the one that was married to Bobby Ewing. Mmmmmm, they reckon they were married, but can anyone actually remember seeing the ceremony on TV? My personal opinion was that they were living in sin you know , lucky devils. Anyway before that, and before my Austrian holiday (did I tell you about that? Oh yes, I've just looked back and it's gonna p*ss down), I'm meeting up with my mate Jaybea and his lady Ethel (I'd better not tell you about her you know.........well I think its a her.....no on second thoughts......oh I don't know, I'm broad minded so it doesn't matter). I'm looking forward to that, because he waits on me hand and foot, treats me like a bit of an idol you know, but I can't be that, as Ethel fills that role. Okay I'll finish at this point, as I want to go for a wee. I realise this posting has nothing to do with this thread whatsoever, nor even belongs on here, or any other forum come to that, but neither does one hell of a lot of nonsense that has appeared on here these past couple of days. So I'll say toodlepip you know, and be happy as tomorrow may never come. xxxxx

  7. Should the topic not be Rye House v Sheffield, I don't remember Stoke being advertised anywhere??
  8. I went to the British Youth Championship at Leicester last night, and the crowd levels were higher than those that I've seen at Ipswich, Rye House & Scunthorpe in the Premier League. The folk up there really got behind the kids big time, and programmes were sold out long before the start. Absolutely great to see.
  9. You're more than welcome, I will ALWAYS Publicise any form of junior meetings when possible, as the majority of the riders are an important part of our sports future.

  11. Thanks for all that Veterancub, it make a bit more sense to me now. Good to see Redcar are running a series of challenge matches, it's important to keep these lads on track as much as possible. I've now got to send the results of the King's Lynn v Stoke (MDL) meeting through to the BSPA website, so I'll thanks once again, and good night. Regards Mike
  12. I do the polite thing by respecting my elders, and say well done. Best Wishes Potted!!
  13. No chance mate.......OUR.......Max will be really up for this one.
  14. I've got about six left I think but it's pointless buying dentures because with living in the same county as you, I can always borrow yours if I need to have a photo taken. Enjoy this evening, and just remember that coming second doesn't sound as bad as saying you finished last .
  15. Haha you're quite right Veterancub, as I had already posted to Boz some half an hour before you made your sarcastic remarks against me, I'd realised my mistake and admitted it to him. Thanks by the way for posting the winning times, they are much appreciated. Okay, can I ask you for your help please? It's been reported on the BSPA website, that the 2nd leg of the NJL Cup Final will double-up with the league match at Berwick on the 21st June. Obviously there was a Berwick 'A' and Berwick 'B' in the NJL Cup competition, and operated with different riders and team-manager, so does this mean that when Berwick ride their league fixtures, 'A' & 'B' will become one and utilise the services of all the riders that represented them in both groups of the cup? That is a genuine question that I don't know the answer to, as I don't know how many riders each club are allowed to have in their squads, that's if there is a limit. Thank you for your anticipated help.
  16. No worries mate, thanks a lot. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  17. Thanks TMW, I'm certainly looking forward to the meeting, and I'll leave the brolly at home!!!!
  18. A great service, thanks a lot Boz. Hi again Boz, I don't know if you can help with this, but I originally understood that because this fixture was postponed on the 27th March and then again on the 3rd April, that the result had been declared as an 18-18 draw, with each side getting 1-point. I'm totally confused!!! Okay Boz, forget my last posting, I've just realised that this was Final against the second Berwick team. All the Best.
  19. Thanks for all that info Laurence. I shall see Adam Sheppard in the Red & White of Stoke tonight. Laurence, The riders points chart shows Dan Miles scoring 3-points from two rides, but the heat details show him as 4-points from three rides. Also the riders points chart shows Alex Wilson scoring 3-points from rides, but the heat details show him as 2-points from one ride. Would you be good enough to advise what is right please. Ta much. Mike
  20. Hope you're soon feeling much better Dale. I'm still struggling with my cracked ribs, but am feeling much better in myself now that most of the internal bruising has gone. Thanks very much for the MDL line-ups they are much appreciated. I have to smile though, because I could almost pick the visiting side myself, as Adam Sheppard (not Shepherd) often pops up, although not so much this year and Sam Woods has ridden for every club against us so far this year, with the exception of Buxton!! I expected Lee Geary to be in there too. As you say, Martin's charges aren't here tonight, but two of them have represented his side in the KO Cup, against...........US. I'm not trying to pick holes here mate, but to do the rider justice, his name is Layne Cupitt. Now then, is Scooter Webster his real name? If he'd been Lambretta Webster, that would have sounded quite feasible, but come on, lets get real over this Seriously though, lets home for a good one tonight in front of a sizeable crowd, and hey here's a thought, if Rory Schlein is going to grow his beard for a charity, I wonder if a certain gentleman (note MV, I called you a gentleman) would let you cut his ponytail off for the same worthwhile cause????? Well he lives a little bit in land from Great Yarmouth itself, but I know what you mean. What's the local weather forecast for your area tomorrow, as I intend coming up to the British Youth Championship if it's favourable (another junior meeting that doesn't seem to have been given much publicity). I might be wrong as I've only briefly flicked through the pages, but apart from the fixtures section, I don't recollect seeing it mentioned in the Speedway Star this week, although I'd stand to be corrected on that one. Still never mind if it hasn't, there's loads of foreign and grasstrack news, which is more important!!!!!!
  21. Yes, news does seem to be slow these days filtering through about NL meetings, but on this occasion it might be because Dale has been a bit under the weather. There may of course be some information on Facebook, but the like of you and I forget to look on there!!!! As you suggested it might be, it's a nice sunny and warm morning here in West Norfolk, and is forecast to remain like that for most of the day, although there might be a short shower at some stage (probably between 7.30-10.00pm ). Gates open at the usual time of 6.30pm, and not 6.00pm as shown on the clubs official press release, and the line-ups are as follows: - KING'S LYNN: 1) Max Clegg 2) Darren Mallett 3) James Cockle 4) Marc Owen 5) Kyle Hughes 6) Josh Bailey 7) Scott Campos STOKE: 1) Ben Wilson 2) Chris Widman 3) Ben Hopwood 4) R/R 5) Jon Armstrong 6) Rob Shuttleworth 7) James McBain There is also a Midland Development League fixture in the 2nd half, but your guess is as good as mine as to who will actually be riding for the the two teams. Publicity for that is no where to be found, which is sad really. We should be giving these meetings maximum publicity, but very few clubs seem to. As for the main event, it looks to be a cracker, with every rider looking to be more or less the equivilant of his opposing number, and has all the makings of being one of the best National League meetings the Norfolk Arena will see this season (I shall say that for the next meeting of course ). I'm not sure off hand whether Ben Wilson is still the Bronze Helmet holder or not, but if he is, then there's the prospect that that could be the property of a King's Lynn rider by bedtime too. Tonight will be the fourth time the clubs have met each other on league business over the years at the Norfolk Arena, with the 'Potters' having won two out of the previous three clashes, so the home side will be anxious to level the spoils. With large amounts of normal King's Lynn fans staying at home on Wednesday because the Elite League side were on TV, it's to be hoped that they will come along tonight to receive their weekly fix of LIVE speedway. It's gonna be good, miss it at your peril.
  22. Could you let me have the heat details at some point please mate, as I need to know how many firsts, seconds, thirds and last places each rider had. I realise it was late when you got home, and you just wanted to get to bed. Thanks Mike
  23. Like you Martin, I had no idea that STR had a Facebook page, and it didn't even cross my mind to look on there, nor will I. I also agree that using Facebook is a retrograde step, and once again like you, I find it difficult to interpret. As for Twitter, well we won't even go with that one!! I'm like Bryn, I haven't got an all-singing, all dancing mobile phone, because quite honestly I wouldn't know how to use one, nor would I have the time to spend playing around with it all the time even if I did. I'm afraid Facebook has/is taking over peoples lives. You've only got to walk around town and observe how many people are glued to their mobile phone, rather than watching where they are walking, its become an absolute obsession. Last Christmas we had a lot of people round to dinner, and ALL the younger generation, plus a couple of older, actually sat at the dinner table playing with the damn things whilst eating their meal. When a question was asked of them all you got back was "Sorry I didn't hear what was said". It was so ridiculous, that two of them were texting each other sitting almost opposite each other, so they've obviously lost the art of conversation. One rider said to me last year, along with a promoter, that they now only use Facebook as they got fed up with being slagged off on a forum. That to me is total nonsense, because it's just as easy to slag someone off on Facebook as it is on a Forum, and is a lot easier for the world and his friend to read about too. I understand messages can be sent privately on Facebook, but once again, I don't know how to do that, although in this instance I think you do, as I think you contacted me once to enquire how my wife was progressing. I'm stuck with the old-fashioned e-mails I'm afraid (at least I've advanced from Snail Mail), but even with that system, I'm beginning to find it more and more difficult to get people to respond to me, and I can only assume it's because their noses have been super-glued to the all-singing, all-dancing mobile phones. Anyway, enough moaning from me. It's time to put speedway to bed for the day, as I've got a bowls report to write for a local village club followed by some work for the Tommy Steele Fan Club (yep, I'm involved with that). All the Best Mike
  24. Well that was certainly a full in depth reply!!! As I was under pressure to take her who should be obeyed to the shops if the speedway was off, I didn't have time to go searching round places like Facebook, which I don't get on with anyway very well. Why should I anyway, when the facility is on the the BSF and always has been. It's now 12.30pm and I guess it's time for us both to take our midday pills. See you sometime. Mike
  25. Search as I might, I just can't locate the riders points and more importantly heat details from this meeting. I understand that Coventry won 24-12, but that's the only information I can find, can anybody help PLEASE????
