  1. You could well be right, and the best way for folk to find out is to come along and support their respective teams. We may surprise you, who knows!!!
  2. Local derby time this Saturday at the Norfolk Arena, with the battered and bruised Young Stars taking on the very powerful Mildenhall team. Line-ups for the fixture are still to be confirmed, but one thing that is known that both clubs will be minus one of their usual septet. Adam Lowe through injury for the home side and skipper Lewis Blackbird for the visitors, who will be riding for Leicester that night. With the Fen Tigers having lost their first league meeting of the season at home to Stoke yesterday, they'll be in a mean and angry mood, and will be more difficult to deal with than normal maybe, but hey, that'll make it all the more fun. As for the severely race rusty Young Stars, they know that if they want to start moving up the table, they can afford to take no prisoners, so a battle royal can be expected. Let's hope for some decent weather, a large crowd, and a good and injury free meeting for the riders, no matter who wins. Tapes up at 7.30pm.
  3. Yes, fair point Richard. Yes, that is the final round of what has been an excellent series.
  4. Excellent afternoon's racing, and as Albert said, what a shame more people didn't turn up to watch it. What else can you do for just £5? Many of the riders took the eye and ought to have very bright futures in the sport, if the system allows for them to progress naturally. Some of these lads are on a par with some in the National League already, and there are lads in the that league that are ready for the Premier League, but it doesn't contain room for them, apart from the odd few, which is extremely worrying. Zach Wajtknect stood out for me, and it'll be interesting to see how he copes when he moves up to the 500cc Class. Forty races in 2 hours 15 minutes, now that's how speedway should be run, instead of spending around 3-hours getting through 15-heats as so many tracks do. That sort of sharpness, might just invite a few more people through the turnstiles around the country, expecially on the darker and colder evenings. When round two was staged at Mildenhall, it drew an extremely healthy crowd, so why this didn't, especially with it being staged on one of the best circuits in England, is a mystery to say the least. There were a handful of people in attendance wearing (Sorpions/Saints) clothing, three people from the Canterbury area of Kent, two from Cleethorpes, plus myself and my wife from near Hunstanton in Norfolk. So a bad show all round really. Luckily the entire afternoon stayed dry and sunny for the most part, but phew did we hit some horrendous thunderstorms driving home, real scary mary stuff!!!!
  5. I know it's early, but an early departure from home is required. Any news on the weather in Scunny please, as the forecast doesn't seem good? Thanks
  6. I have asked Dale for one, but there doesn't seen to be a confirmed one as yet, but I'm sure as and when there is, it'll be posted on here. All the uncertainty doesn't make life easy does it, because you can't plan ahead with other things you want to do in life, unless of course the speedway takes second best, then that's a shame. I always try to make the speedway my No 1 priority, but must admit that it's becoming more and more difficult to do so.
  7. Mr Mungo, will you be one of the several, or are you going to Eastbourne to see the big boys? Both fixtures look as though they'll be good.
  8. Is anybody actually going to this meeting tonight, or are you all staying at home to watch the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony? Can't believe how few postings there are about the meeting!! Oh! if anyone is going, the weather is good at the moment, and 'Lucy' on 'Daybreak' this morning that there would be a mixture of sun and cloud this evening.
  9. Does anybody by any chance have the scorers from all classes, plus the results of any finals staged please>
  10. Derek, Did Adam Kirby make any attempt to start Heat 2, or didn't he even get away from the pits? Cheers Mike
  11. Did you realise Parsloes, that both times Lakeside have ridden at Rye House this season in a challenge match, they have finished with an identical score of 16-19 to the Junior Hammers, with both meetings reaching their natural conclusion of six-heats? The one time when it really mattered as it was for league points, only four heats were achieved, although the Essex side still emerged victors.
  12. Correct first time, now have a look at your e-mails for a truly wonderful photo!!!
  13. Good Morning Parsloes, this is the non Edmondton resident calling. Heat 1 = 60.4 Heat 2 = 63.3 Heat 3 = 63.0 Heat 4 = 61.0 I'm certain Craig announced Heat 6 as 62.0 I think the middle of the three under 15's races was 59.2 but can't be certain as I was talking to an Westminster born ex-Crayford rider at the time!!
  14. You'll catch me one day, but you'll need to be out of bed before 11.17am
  15. As I moved away from Wimbledon in 1986, I wouldn't have a clue who was riding second halves at Plough Lane after that. Okay, my next stab at this intriguing poser that you've set me is CECIL FORBES. If it's not him, then you'll have to give me a further clue, cos I'm sure as hell not giving up on this one yet.
  16. Former 'Don' Bob Andrews was born in Edmonton. Give me a bit of a clue, is he still riding in any of the three leagues?
  17. That'll be your favourite rider of all time..................James Cockle.......well Mr James Cockle to you!!
  18. The Pearce brothers Dad told me that they were both born in Upper Edmonton, so maybe they were conceived in Waltham Forest
  19. Sorry, didn't realise he'd left, so that'll be my mistake.
  20. Next Friday evening sees Great Britain celebrate the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games, a prestigious occasion indeed, but forget that because that's where DVD recorders and the like come into their own. Put your running shoes on, and get yourself down to the Norfolk Arena, as that's where the 'Young Stars' will be holding their Opening Ceremony to the 2012 home season. Not quite I know, but with it being just a few days to August, we stage just our third meeting of the season here in Norfolk. Scunthorpe 'Saints' and deadly local derby rivals are in town, and there could be no finer way to relaunch our 2012 home campaign. With the likes of former Ipswich rider Jerran Hart at Premier League level in their ranks, along with current PL performers in the shape of Gary Irving and Steven Worrall, this could be one of the toughtest meetings we encounter this season. Dudley, Mildenhall and Stoke will also provide stern opposition when they visit, as will all clubs come to that, but by then, the boys will have shaken off some of their race dustiness, so will probably be sharper, As you know, we've got a good 1-7 here at King's Lynn, and although both Dudley & Mildenhall are yet to lose a league match, what's to say we can't put a winning run together, and join them at the top of the league. With your support, I'm sure we've got an outstanding chance of doing that, so why not come down and join in and enjoy our second Opening Cermony. Start time is 7.30pm.
  21. What a great meeting, and congratulations to both Australia and Great Britain for their continuation in the competition. I thought the Czech Republic deserve a few plaudits too, as they did better than I thought they would. As for the 'Monster Girls'...........my eyesight has gone funny Age caught up with me tonight, as I got a tad confused with the jokers, tac subs, and everything else that was thrown at us, oh dear my programme's in a mess.

  23. Hi Martin, Forgetting about the disappointment of seeing no speedway, especially as King's Lynn were going to win , the broken tooth made it not such a good day out. Still, Jan enjoyed looking around the shops, at all the things us men just love to do....Mmmmm!! I couldn't even find an Ann Summers outlet to pass some time in!!!!!!!!!! All the Best Mike
  24. Very many thanks Jayne for texting me with the news that the meeting had been rained-off, it was much appreciated. As I said in my reply, I was walking around Bakewell by then (we always leave early so as to make a day of it) and it was bone dry there. It must be very difficult for you promoters to know what decision to make, because an hour or so later, my wife and I were eating our picnic in the park at Buxton where it was dry. I know from experience down this end where we've had a meeting called off at the Norfolk Arena, yet less than half a mile up the road it was completely free of the wet stuff. It's very frustrating for all concerned. Unfortunately apart from the wasted money on fuel, I broke my bloomin' tooth whilst sitting eating my roll (okay, I know you want to know what was in it.....Cheese & Cucumber!!) so I'll have an expensive dental bill tomorrow too. Oh Happy Days!!
  25. Maybe Jayne will know a bit more prior to me setting off on my trek from deepest Norfolk before most people are up!!!! Fingers crossed anyway.
