Really enjoyed my first visit to Leicester, even though I had difficulty finding the stadium, guess I should purchase a Sat Nav. Very nice stadium with all the staff so very polite, and hey, what a magniicent crowd turned ot to support the event. Hope Michael Neale is okay following his last race mishap. Well done Phil Morris, plus referee Tony Steele, for making sure that the meeting ran so efficiently. 500cc British Championship Reece Downes (2-2-2-3) = 9 Kelsey Dugard (2-1-FD-2) = 5 David Abraham (FD-1-1-F) = 2 Alex Wilson (FD-FD-R-FD) = 0 Nathan Greaves (3-3-FD-3) = 9 Josh Bailey (3-2-FD-3) = 8 Michael Neale (3-3-3-3) = 12 Luke Harris (1-1-R-N) = 2 Ben Harrison (1-R-N-N) = 1 Connor Mountain (2-2-2-FD) = 6 1) Bailey, Dugard, Harrison, Wilson (FD) RACE AWARDED 2) Neale, Downes, Harris, Abraham (FD) 69.35 3) Greaves, Mountain, Harris, Harrison (Ret) 68.28 4) Neale, Bailey, Abraham, Wilson (FD) RACE AWARDED 5) Greaves, Downes, Wilson (Ret), Bailey (FD) 67.44 6) Neale, Mountain, Dugard, Greaves (FD) 68.88 7) Bailey, Downes, Abraham, Dugard (FD) 70.81 8) Neale, Mountain, Harris (Ret), Abraham (Fell) 71.26 9) Downes, Wilson (FD), Harris (NS), Harrison (NS) 71.03 10) Greaves, Dugard, Mountain (FD), Harrison (NS) RACE AWARDED FINAL) Neale, Downes, Bailey, Greaves (XD) RACE AWARDED 250cc British Championship 1) Lewis Whitmore (3-1-3-2) = 9 2) Saul Bulley (1-0-0-0) = 1 3) Daniel Miles (1-0-0-0) = 1 4) Luke Woodhull (2-2-2-1) = 7 5) Zach Wajtknecht (3-3-3-3) = 12 6) Callum Walker (3-2-2-3) = 10 7) Ben Woodhull (2-1-1-2) = 6 8) Kean Dicken (0-0-1-1) = 2 1) Whitmore, L.Woodhull, Bulley, Dicken 71.28 2) Wajtknecht, B.Woodhull, Miles, Bulley 75.41 3) Walker, L.Woodhull, Whitmore, Miles 77.62 4) Wajtknecht, L.Woodhull, B.Woodhull, Bulley 76.18 5) Wajtknecht, Walker, L.Woodhull, Dicken 74.43 6) Whitmore, Walker, B.Woodhull, Miles 73.50 7) Wajtknecht, B.Woodhull, Dicken, Bulley 75.65 8) Walker, Whitmore, Dicken, Miles 77.09 FINAL) Wajtknecht, Whitmore, L.Woodhull, Walker 75.50 125cc Support Races 1. The King's Lynn line-up is: 1) Darren Mallett 2) Shane Waldron 3) Shane Hazelden 4) James Cockle 5) Lewis Kerr 6) Chris Widman 7) Lewis Rose N.B. Chris Widman is riding as a guest in place of Jake Knight, who is away on Premier League duties. STARRGAZER 1 It's a sad fact of life that promoters at most clubs these days, seem to think the world starts and ends with Facebook and Twitter, and give little thought for the still great many people who rely on the easier to understand websites and forums such as this one, then they wonder why people don't turn up to watch. The majority of the time, I manage to put some news on here, as I do for the Midland Development League team, but for the past week, I've been suffering horrendous PC problems, and haven't been able to access anything much. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow. With regards to the LIghtning side that a fair number of people have spoken to me personally about, I do and will try to find the heat details of the away matches as and when I can, and do have contacts at most clubs that can usually assist with that information, but not always unfortunately. I'm not sure whether the MDL has a co-ordinator who could collect such details from EVERY club then post them on the BSPA site (A lot do go on there, as I myself provide the information). Obviously somebody has the answers, as Peter Oakes publishes them in his year book, so it's a mystery why the public don't get to see them as and when so to speak. Anyway, this topic should be under the junior section really, but I'm making hay whilst my PC wants to work. So in conclusion, you'd be better asking your clubs team managers about the situation, rather than me, I'm only a supporter like the rest of you. Good luck with that one anyway. rhidassa: Yes you are correct, if people produce their entrance ticket from Wednesday night, they will receive a free programme tonight. It's a beautiful day again in Norfolk, so hope to see a LOT of you at the Norfolk Arena tonight, for what I'm sure is going to be a great and entertaining season for the Young Stars. Incidentally, I've been asked to point out that the Track Shop has got quite a wide selection of Young Stars merchandise this year, unlike previous years when it's been mainly the 'Stars' bits 'n bobs on sale. Roger Airey if you're reading this, yes I will be there tonight, and I will endeavour to get the programmes you require. See you all at 7.30pm.

King's Lynn V Milton Keynes (koc)

I agree with all comments, especially Lioness. We have to move with the times (i.e. Twitter & Facebook), but we must also stop and consider older people, who don't understand that sort of communication. It's a proven fact that the older you get, the less your brain can learn and remember, and when is all said and done, there is still one hell of a lot of aging people out there, supporting their respective clubs, as they have been doing for the past thirty, forty or fifty years or more. I've been a non-stop attender EVERY WEEK (holidays apart) for the past 55-years now, and whilst I do follow things to an extent on Facebook, I can't really get my head round Twitter. My hobbies mainly involve statistics (yes I guess those sort too ) so my brain is very active, yet I struggle at times with as I said Facebook and definitely Twitter, and if an active brain such as mine struggles, what chance have those that don't involve themselves in such things. At the moment it feels like Facebook & Twitter are for those that go to work, who demand to be kept informed, whilst things like Forums are for the old folk in Residential/Rest Homes, who get forgotten about. So come on promoters, press officers or whoever, don't just think of the younger generation supporting your clubs at this moment, think also of those people that have supported and kept you in business throughout the years, keep them informed too..........PLEASE.

I've had quite a few people say to me recently that they are finding it more and more difficult to obtain certain bits of speedway news, especially regarding some of the junior meetings, now that we live in a world of Twitter and Facebook. Not everybody has the ability, especially some of the older people, to understand how to operate those particular facilities, and rely purely on clubs websites or the BSF for their news. Although I pick up bits 'n pieces from the aforementioned services, I must agree that the in depth service isn't as good as posting the easier to read details on the BSF or club website, although I always do manage to locate any information that I might want, he even though it can be very time consuming in doing so. My own club for instance, are in the Midland Development League, and receive excellent advertising on Facebook, but sadly for those that can't use that service, miss out, as publicity isn't given in the other outlets. Other than Twitters or Facebook users, I wonder how many people know that there is a KOC match taking place this evening between King's Lynn and Milton Keynes. Without Twitter, how many people knew that Luke Ruddick was injured at Northside on Sunday. Okay, I know some bright spark will say "Who really cares", but equally so, there will be those that do care, and like to be kept abreast of what's happening on our junior scene. My reason for making this particular post, is because my ears are hearing more and more comments about the situation, and I just wondered if it's something that bothers people in a far larger area rather than just my small domain. It would be good to hear other peoples views, even if you don't agree. All I would ask is that you don't insult the intellect of some of the more senior members who are bound to read this posting, just because they don't really understand how to use Twitter and or Facebook.

Mildenhall Vs Coventry Sunday 28 April
Mimmo replied to WembleyLion's topic in National League Speedway
As a complete neutral regarding both teams, this meeting had just about everything, and it's just a shame one team had to lose. It proved to me, as if I didn't already know anyway, what a lot of outstanding young British talent there is on the scene at the moment, and I just hope that one day, the way to move up is made easier for them, which it is slowly. Josh Bates for Mildenhall is coming on a bomb, and I was pleasantly surprised with young Martin Knuckey for Coventry too. Apart from the odd one or two over excited Fen Tigers fans around me (I think the ale was doing a lot of the talking), supporters from both teams seemed to enjoy the efforts put in by not only their own clubs, but those of their rivals, which is nice to see, and how it should be. I don't know what the official attendance figures were, but it looked far higher than what Rye House get in the Premier League, so the management are obviously doing something right at West Row, and long may it continue. Hope that Stefan Nielsen is okay after his terrifying coming together with Robert Branford at the conclusion of Heat 15. I know the Fen Tigers fans gave the British U21 Champion a lot of stick on the first/second bend, but to me it was nothing more than a last bend to tapes finish by two comitted riders, giving it there all. Nothing dirty or dishonest, just true good competitve racing. Good luck to both clubs for the remainder of the season, and no one will be more delighted than me, if you finish the campaign in second and third places respectively behind ...............KIng's Lynn Happy Days. -
Rye House V Glasgow (koc) - 20th April 2013
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry if my posting implied that I was blaming Rye House for Glasgow's poor showing, because that wasn't my intention, but it takes two teams to make a good meeting, and sadly only one turned up. I agree the meeting did move on at a better pace than the first couple of heats, but I get so p****d off when referees allow riders to return to the pits after a false start etc., then wait a few minutes before putiing them on a fresh 2-minutes. Henning Bager was a villan for that on Saturday, and it just slows proceedings down so much. Also couldn't really see why the track needed regrading after heat 10, in the announced 5-minutes interval that went on for over 10-minutes. because there was no dirt on there to regrade. A fair number of Rye House fans in the Long Bar Stand got up and left at that point, ranting that enough was enought, but I did sit it out. Glad to see the Rockets finished the job off in Scotland yesterday, and wish them luck in the next round against Sheffield. Anyway, can you provide poor old Bryn with the 2nd Half Results? Have a good evening. -
Rye House V Glasgow (koc) - 20th April 2013
Mimmo replied to Mimmo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I can only assume I'd had a drink or five prior to saying I was looking forward to this meeting, and why did it take 30-minutes to get through the first two races? Things could only get better I thought, but I must still have been under the influence, as this was total c**p at its highest level. I hope Bryn managed to obtain the results from the 2nd half, because 999 times out of a 1000, I'd have provided them to him. But like almost everybody else, I couldn't get away quick enough at the conclusion of Heat 15 (at least I did stay that long, many had left much earlier), and to be honest, the best only decent race, was the stampeed to see who could reach the exit gates the quickest. I'd be surprised if anybody had remained for the juniors, sad as that is, because they do deserve our support, but you can only be left hanging around for so long......well it seemed a life time, even if it wasn't. With a fuel and entrance cost in excess of £80, this has pushed my speedway loyalty to the limit this time. -

Rye House V Glasgow (koc) - 20th April 2013
Mimmo posted a topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm surprised that nobody has even given this meeting a mention yet, with it being only just over 24-hours away. Is anybody else going, or am I the only one? Must say I'm looking forward to this one, as it's quite a while since I last saw Glasgow ride, and although they're not the strongest side around, there's enough young talent and experience in the side, to make it an interesting fixture. Weather forecast is good, so all would seem rosy in the garden so to speak. -
Northern Junior League Fixtures 2013
Mimmo replied to kevcfc's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
That's something I've been trying to establish too Buxton Tiger, but drawn a blank. Either people don't know, or don't care. I really do hope the organiser(s) give this competition the publicity that it deserves, and that results are published on this forum. The Midland Development League do a grand job keeping their public informed, so lets hope the same happens here, but so far it's not looking at all promising. -

Redcar Cubs V Workington Meteors - Northside Cup
Mimmo replied to boz's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Okay kevcfc thanks for that. Surely if these junior leagues are to be taken seriously, which they should be, then somebody within the organisation of the tournament should be posting results after each meeting. The Midland Development League is very professional in the way it is run and reported, which is something the real hardcore speedway fan loves to see. Not only that, it must give the young riders some pride and feeling of importance, seeing their names and results in print for all to see. So fingers crossed that the NJL takes a leaf out of the MDL book. -

Rye House V Ipswich 1/4/13 2pm
Mimmo replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Agree with most of what you said Rocket. The track wasn't great, and as you said Len had apologised for that, but all things considered, this wasn't a bad meeting, and I say that as a 100% neutral. Like you, I thought both disqualifications were bad calls, in fact I wouldn't have even blamed Tungate in Heat 12. However, as the rules don't allow it to be classed as a racing incident without penalty, then somebody has to foot the blame. Quite how the referee managed to aportion the blame on any one rider more than the other, is hard to understand. With regards to Adam Ellis, I'll agree that today he only looked NL class, but having seen him ride a few times now, I'm pretty sure he'll easily be PL sooner rather tham later. With the track being what it was to day, it wasn't a good time to judge him. But anything and everything is totally irrelevant at this moment in time, our thoughts must be with the three stricken riders. -
