  1. There has been an alteration to the result of Heat 5 in the Intermediate Class, which should now read as follows: 1st Rod Woodhouse 2nd Simon Pearce. Tom Rowlett fell in the first running of that heat, and he was sunsequently allowed back into the re-run off a 15-metre handicap. It transpires that the rider is only eligible to score any points in the re-run if the incident happened on the first bend, which this didn't. Therefore, Simon Pearce who finished 3rd, has now been upgraded to 2nd, and Rowlett receives no points at all. Therefore rider No 5 (Simon Pearce) should now be credited with 3-points in the rider scorechart, and Rider No 9 (Tom Rowlett) reduced from 14-points to 12-points, thus making Mick Skinner the outright winner of that class with 14-points. So apologies for my original posting being incorrect, but it's a situation that none of us in the box were aware of at the time, and only came to light after the meeting.
  2. Mike, I've produced times and results and hope they correspond with what you came up with. I can only assume that the Peterboriough fan you enjoyed the company of was a certain Steve Miles. Nice guy when he buys a round , and the only Peterborough fan that I know who would be sensible enough to travel down to deepest Kent to see a Veterans Meeting. Having said that, having to put up with the entertainement on offer at the EOS, makes Lydd or anywhere else quite a sensible option........even the kids at Northside....hey Steve?? 2 VALVE OVER 45's 1. 3. No Welsh Wonder, I'm not grumpy mate, just wish that people within the sport didn't think the world started and finished with Facebook & Twitter. Enjoy Wolverhampton tonight.
  4. Thanks for you comments Martin. Yes it was a good day, and at times the racing was quite exciting. It doesn't take that long to type the results out and put them on the BSF, I just wish other people would provide a similar servicve when they attend such events. I'm sure the riders like to see the publicity they are given. When do you ever see any Northern Junior League results published in detail, something which I'm sure both riders and supporters would appreciate....NEVER!! They just don't seem to care about anything other than the little world they are living in. Certain details appear on Facebook, but by no means anything comprehensive, which is sad for forum users. Not everybody's lives revolve around Facebook & Twitter for varying reasons, but that's the modern world we live in unfortunately. If you've got the means or time to use it great, but if you haven't, you just get cast aside. Certainly not fair on the older generation who have played their part in keeping the sport alive year after year, but then get cast aside as attention is only focused on the younger generation. Of course the younger people have got to be drawn into the sport, although I'm not convinced that this sort of media outlet does it, because if you're not interested in the sport in the first place, you're not going to bother to read about it, whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, Daily Mirror etc., etc anyway. I'm not the slightest bit interested in cricket, so don't read a single word about it, no matter where it's printed. Where on earth am I going with this, get off your pedestal Mimmo, nobody cares anyway

There was some excellent races throughout each discipline, with the Aussie trio of Daniel Winchester, Kale Ballantyne and Ethen Ballantyne in particular showing what a great talent that is waiting down under to hopefully reach these shores sooner rather than later. Sadly you won't get a further chance to see them again for a while, as they head back home, but just remember the names, because they are a little bit special. If you've never sampled a Southern Track Riders' Meeting before, then there are still quite a few meetings remaining this season, and remember, it doesn't cost a penny to get in, sixty races FREE OF CHARGE. A 12-page programme (not racesheet) is produced for every meeting, where a £1 donation is enough to secure one. Forthcoming fixtures are: Sunday 7th July at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (Championship Round). Tuesday 16th July at Ryde, Isle of Wight at 7.00pm. Sunday 11th August at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (MAGPAS meeting & Championship Round). Sunday 1st September at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (STR v Scunthorpe). Sunday 29th September at Iwade, Sittingbourne (20th Anniversary Meeting) - START TIME TO BE CONFIRMED. Sunday 6th October at Scunthorpe (Scunthorpe v STR) - START TIME TO BE CONFIRMED. Saturday 19th October at King's Lynn at 5.00pm (4 Team Tournament). Hope to see you at one of them......or more.
  6. Could you possibly post the scorers up to the point of the abandonment please Laurence. Cheers mate Mike
  7. Nobody seems to be taking this league or its competitions seriously when it comes to publishing scorers and heat details. The Midland Development League provide a superb service for people wanting to keep their own personal records, but sadly those resposible for the Northern Junior League are making no effort whatsoever. Apart from supporters wanting to know what's going on, it must surely be nice for the riders concerned to see their names in print. With this sort of attitude, it's little wonder that the general public make for the exit doors prior to these meetings starting. Such a shame!!
  8. What I meant Semion was that I wouldn't imagine him to be racing at National League level for more than one season. Sorry for the confusion.
  9. Darcy Ward Mk2 but the biggest difference being hwe is British! Terrific debut by anyones standards, and assuming he continues in this vein, his stay in the National League will be very short. Very entertaining meeting too, with some good pressure applied in particular from Messrs Wright, McKinna and Williamson. Roll-on the next one against Stoke in a couple of weeks. Only down side to last night, apart from the cold yet again, was another abysmal crowd.
  10. Hi Martin, Pleased you enjoyed your Cardiff experience, really great weekend wasn't it. Goodness knows where they got those awful centre-green presenters from. The only blessing was that with the tannoy system being so bad, it was difficult to know what they were waffling on about anyway. Well it's the 15th May since the Norfolk Arena faithful saw there last track action, so surely to goodness they'll turn out tonight, even though it might end up being a bit one sided, but hopefully not to much. On there day, Buxton can provide a good challenge, so lets hope tonight is one of those days. Whatever, it will just be nice to see some action again. Spelling mistakes are inexcusable in press releases to be honest, and they happen far to often around the country. There's probably a few in this posting, but I'm not being paid to get things right. Hope all is well with you, and that Chris gets another ride sooner rather than later.
  11. Haha, I'm not going to discuss the latter with being a Chelsea Fan......and yes before you say it.....I'M THE ONE
  12. Very fair and as you say brutaly honest points. With regards to an up and coming Brit at KL, or as you suggest a lack of one, I'd have to take issue with you on that one, as we have a lad named LEWIS KERR!! But otherwise IMHO, you've made some good and interesting observations there.
  13. Looks like you've probably got the same blinkered people as we have in Norfolk.
  14. Thanks, and mind those Italian girls, they like wealthy mens bums!!
  15. Sounds like a good suggestion to me. With crowds as low as they are, any gamble within reason has got to be worth taking. Still upright on your perch I see Bagpuss No, it's not a problem confined to King's Lynn, but visually, the crowd levels look lower than those of any other National League circuit I visit, which is the majority of them.# The problem is because as I've said many times before, people think National League is second best, and that just is not the case. Of course the riders are less experienced than those in what can only be loosly referred to as 'Elite' riders, but at the end of the day, they are four guys out on track racing their guts out for their respective teams, in times of fractionally slower than the Elite & Premier Leagues. In anycase, when did speed ever make a good race. Undoubtably the Newport crowds were poor for their National League side, but so were those for the Premier League, hence them sadly no longer being. With regards to Poole, I don't know what there crowds were like, so can't really comment. If they were not good, maybe it was because they used the name of Bournemouth, but then of course that might not have been the reason. I'm not deliberately picking holes in your posting mate, as you have as much right to your opinion as I do to mine, but one question I must ask as a result of it is, why would in our case, a King's Lynn fan, supporter or whatever you want to call them/us, prefer to go and watch Ipswich or Peterborough when their own club is staging a meeting. Surely this is just proving my point that Joe Public are snubbing their own team, just because it's National League, and prefering to opt for a local rival side. Surely charity and faithfullness begins at home and not with lining the pockets of your rivals............or am I being naive with my thinking? Don't know where my spell check is, so apologies for the many mistakes I've probably made.
  16. I personally thought this meeting was a terrific advert not just for National League speedway, but British Speedway in general, and at the conclusion of Heat 14, there was never at any time more than four points between the two teams. I'd have to admit on one hand that we probably did throw the meeting away, if that can be a fair way of describing the falls of both Lewis Rose and Jake Knight, But for goodness sake, they were racing their hearts out to win their side points, and yes, made mistakes, but that happens in life, at least they were trying. Without to much doubt, the injury in Heat 3 to James Cockle cost us the match too, and there's little you can do about that. But despite all that, lets not disrespect the efforts of Coventry, because they played an equal part in what was as good a meeting as any I've seen at the Norfolk Arena this year, with Jacobs, Branford and Sarjeant all looking class acts. Brendan Johnson had a good steady night, and for someone who is so new to this level of racing, who could fault Tommy Fenwick. Yes, I'm a 'Young Stars' fan through and through, and think on a level playing field, we would have won last night, but we didn't, and congratulations to Coventry for seizing their opportunity. Beaten but far from disgraced, and I just can't wait for the next meeting in 2-weeks time against the Isle of Wight. As for the attendance last night, well it was better than the 136 of the previous meeting where as Bagpuss quite rightly pointed out at the time, that people probably can't afford two meetings in a week, to which I agreed with his way of thinking. But what can be the reason for last nights still not good enough attendance, people hadn't been asked tro pay for two meetings this week!! I can't and never will understand why the public won't turn out to give the side a viewing. There's obviously a lot of 'Stars' fans that have NEVER been to a 'Young Stars' match, as for whatever reason, they seem to have this misguided conception that it's second best............WRONG!!! If only, if only, if only...............................Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  17. So sorry to hear that news regarding Martin, and I'm sure that all our thoughts are with him and his family and friends.
  18. I understand the A14/A47 is already heavily laden with supporters making their way to East Anglia, whilst I'm anticipating traffic chaos between Norwich & King's Lynn in a couple of hours time. Kent reckon they had around 3,000 at Central Park on Monday, well they ain't seen nothing yet.........................or have they
  19. Thanks for posting those in depth results Mr USA, I just wish that all clubs would provide such an excellent service, rather than just the odd one or two who do. A couple of questions mate, weren't the City Gearbox Vikings originally listed to ride a MDL at King's Lynn tonight? When is now going to take place? Did Coventry stage their round of the MDL Grand Prix on the 26th April, if they did, do you have the results please? Thanks and keep up that good work. Regards Mr Norfolk
  20. Now that's a much nicer photo of you Bagpuss, you looked so mean and lean in your previous one I know that what you say is correct, I just get frustrated when people moan about British riders not developing into top names like our overseas friends, then won't follow a league and club that is trying so hard to achieve that aim. I also realise that I'm a bit biased, because I prefer National League to any other level of racing, so sometimes my vision is a bit blinkered. There are such a lot of good youngsters on the British scene at the moment, that if people don't or as you say, can't afford to support this lower league, them it will fold, and those riders will be lost to the sport. I went to Leicester on Saturday to watch the British Youth Championship (Big Crows), and some of the talent in their, has to be seen to be believed. But if the support for the National League isn't there, and it eventually folds, where does that leave our nation on the world scene. Anyway, providing the weather behaves itself, there is a very good fixture against Coventry tonight, who put up a terrific show at Mildenhall a couple of weeks ago, so let's hope for a good turn-out. There's been no senior meeting this week, so it won't be a case of asking people to fork out twice in a week, and hopefully we'll see a crowd in excess of 1,000
  21. As others have already posted, this was a great occassion to be apart of, and I agree with negatives that have been mentioned, and as Nikko says, they're working on those already, which they need to do. As for the tannoy on the 1st & 2nd bend, I wouldn't know, but I sat in the lower part of the main grandstand in front of the track-shop, and although I could hear the announcer reading out his various bits 'n pieces, it was completely inaudible, and couldn't hear any race times. Nobody else could hear either, so that combined with the inevitable delays that a hot afternoon brings, spoiled the afternoon to extent. As for the stadium and it's facilities, it really is second to none, and the potential there is unbelievable, and there can't be many stadia in the country that can better it, but fear for the long term future unless they can move into a higher league within a year or two. It's difficult to see how National League, as much as I love it, could be a paying concern as the weeks and months go by. So yes, as you'd expect for a first ever meeting it had its highs and lows. Am I glad I went? - MOST DEFINITELY YES Would I go again? - UNDECIDED Although I only ever visit Kent for the British Youth Championship, I much prefer the actual track racing at Iwade. Anyway, good luck for the future, and I hope it does all work out for everyone.
  22. Thank you very much for all your time and effort with vog, I'm very grateful.
  23. Would somebody be kind enough to post the heat details on here from the above meeting which I understand Stoke won 21-15. The points scorers are on the BSPA website, but as so often is the case, no heat details. If anybody could help, I'd be ever so grateful. Thank You Mike
  24. Well they are being well helped and encouraged by Phil & Neil Vatcher, but I know what you mean.......and agree.
  25. Spot on with that one Bryn, extremely small crowd missed as good a meeting as anyone could hope to see. Excellent crowd at Leicester last night for the British Youth Championship, just a pity that King's Lynn couldn't have drawn an attendance of half the amount. Still mate, we were the winners, and those that were elsewhere were the losers in speedway terms.
