Derwent Park..update on Town RL forum
H20 replied to singy13's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I've just read the post above about the company that Laura had 50% stake in getting wound up and not one reply !!!! Is this is the company that ran WORKINGTON SPEEDWAY. Not any other company that Laura has just the SPEEDWAY ? God knows how much is owed out if the tax man is wanting over 300k Tip of the iceberg -
We managed to get our tickets this morning Not been advertised by SGP site yet as being on sale
-
I to was wondering how Ty Proctor has signed for Sheffield and Kings Lynn because he failed to get the 7pt average required to renew his Visa. We all saw the carry on he made that night he spat the dummy out over this issue.
-
There is one simple fact at Workington Speedway and a lot of other clubs. Not enough fans attending meetings to cover the costs. Sponsorship can only cover so much so for years Laura and other promoters have subsidised our speedway so we can still watch the sport we love. This is unsustainable going forward and Workington will not be the last club to close this year. I'm very surprised there were not more clubs closed during the winter. You only have to look to the premiership one man owns three clubs how can that be right ? The sport is sliding away to nothing and very fast. The riders spend a fortune on equipment and obviously ask for signung money and points money to achieve this but there is not enough money in the sport no more.
-
When will Glasgow announce Bickley in there team ???? Won't be long.
-
There will be no more speedway in Workington this putting on ice is just a way of avoiding the worst. As for our main sponsors I've been told they put no real money at all into the speedway. There sponsorship is to provide the equipment and tractors to do the track each week. I was hoping they would stand aside this season and then hopefully a new team sponsor would come in with a few quid to help Laura out. Real shame for the riders but most will get a shot at another club as soon as the first month of the season is in. A couple especially Bickley and Worrall will be signed by another club before the season starts trust me. Really thought that someone or some company would have came in and not allowed this to happen. Gutted like so many other fans.
-
I will admit this they will be a great team to manage. No big egos there just good decent lads
-
And just enough left in the averages to announce your final signing who you tempted away from us with your money tree. Rasmus Jensen
-
I agree totally with you on S Lambert I know the league is weaker this season but he is not going to improve any now is he ? He won't be at reserve and the worry is that neither will BWD and Mason either they are going to have to earn there keep riding in the top 5. I'm not to confident just how well these lads will do riding in the top 5 from the start with only Steve an out and out heat leader. I know Tero was a cheat leader last year but that was in a very poor Newcastle team.
-
I really like and admire the way Glasgow promote there club and riders. I don't agree the way they spend money after admitting how much they have been looking but it's their money not mine. The social media is great but I just don't see more fans returning. You have Cook again who brings fans in himself without any doubt. I was surprised at the numbers watching last season when Workington visited especially in the play off semi final. The crowd of that size does not pay the bills. You had a winning team most of last season until Cook got injured so my point is even after all the superb promotion of the Tigers the goal is more fans through the turnstiles. It not a dig in any way just that if Glasgow with the best rider in the league promoting the sport the way they do in a major massive city can not get enough fans through the turnstiles what hope have the rest of the club's ?

Don't think Lindgren will be back after a poor 2018 and him refusing to fly in for Newcastle final match at Workington. I think Rene Bach might make a return to Newcastle next year.
-
Razzer going to be a big miss. His form virtually everywhere second half of season was a joy to watch. Some brilliant racing and also some very close calls to be wiped right out.
-
Very very poor decision from Belle Vue in my opinion. Craig is a rider who pulls fans in by his 100% commitment to the club. He is Belle Vue through and through. Most other riders just fly in do there bit and fly out. He does much much more than just ride for the club. Fans events promoting the club that Craig. Very surprised maybe Lemon wants more Aussies in the team next year. That's my desire to visit Belle Vue gone. No Cook no Dan no thanks see you again sometime.
-
No way will Dan be ready for start of the season so forget him for now.
-
Simon Lambert love to read the thinking behind that one. Not improved since her left us. Won't improve average and wrong be a reserve so poor signing. Would rather have taken a gamble on a young unknown rider.
-
Sorry got it wrong Not Josh Pickering wish it was it's actually Josh McDonald
-
Well it seems a known team now Tero Arnio Simon Lambert Josh Pickering Have to be honest I like the first four but not to sure on the team as a whole compared with Sheffield and Somerset. Our top four Worrall Arnio Campton Wilson-Dean Sheffield King Proctor Howarth Andersen Somerset Harris Schlien Covatti Kurtz Scunny Auty Garrity Allen Neilsen That's just the teams that's complete I think we are a long way off there level. I was surprised the team leaked actually added up to 38 points.
-
I get that but last season Rene Nickoli Ty were all known heat leaders that could improve Rasmus was the one who improved. Remember our team average hardly changed in 2018. Mason Bradley Tero and Simon (If named) are not heat leaders.
-
If tth at is the seven riders that Workington are naming it could be a long long season. Put that team up against Sheffield or Somerset who are complete and there not in the same league. Only Worrall there would get heat wins away from home consistently. Just a comment as I am just still delighted we still have speedway to go and watch
-
Wow what a great looking team. Brilliant team building. If you can keep Proctor happy in the pits this team will take some stopping.
-
Some good teams being named Noticed other clubs taking food use of the 2.5% reduction in average for former national league riders. We only got Kyle so far and we can not reduce his 2 point average. How Sheffield and Somerset got there teams under 38 point limit looks great team building.
-
Glasgow say 2019 could be the last year they could take £100,000 losses. We need to see which riders they have signed but my guess will be new riders all on top money again with massive bonus payments again all cherry picked from other clubs by dangling massive signing fees again. That's the only reason why I don't want Glasgow to win anything at all. They are great fans but I'm not into this fantasy speedway team building.
-
I have a feeling Barker might be on tbe radar he gets used as a guest plenty.
-
I'm not sorry to see Ty go. The stories of the fall outs and negativity from him at times this season are all well known. All the best Steady looking after him.
-
I just don't get where dropping the team average reduces costs. All it does is change the rider m market, the riders know clubs are after them due to their average and they simply ask for more money as they know they are wanted. Imagine being in Kyle's position a two point rider that just about every club will try and sign virtually name his price. All it does is weaken teams on track so we will not be seeing the likes of Cooke Wells etc in that league which is a shame. If Workington run I personally don't care what the team is as long as we have a team. Fixtures or lack of are a worry for regular speedway but for us that's better than nothing. Just hard to promote.
