  1. Paulco, the meeting was on 6th May, 1978, and Canterbury won 53-25. Canterbury Steve Koppe 4:12:0 Les Rumsey 4:10:1 Graham Clifton 5:9:3 Graham Banks 4:8:0 Barney Kennett 4::7:2 Brendan Shilleto 4:5:1 Bob Spelta 1:2:1 Glasgow Merv Janke 6:9:0 Derek Richardson 4:7:0 Benny Rourke 6:5:0 Colin Farquharson 4:2:1 Steve Lawson 2:2:0 Mick Newton 4:0:0 Hope that brings a few memories back, it sure does for me as we were on the way to our second league title. And your memory serves you well on the score at Mildenhall the following day.
  2. If it's purely the speedway then Bydgoszcz is the place for you, if the entire weekend counts for more then I would suggest Prague.
  3. I don't suppose anyone has the details from those two meetings do they? 1971 Canterbury v Eastbourne (KOC) 1971 Eastbourne v Canterbury (KOC)
  4. Blimey, that reminds me of the garage thread - remember that Shazz?

Once again, many thanks to you Steve.

    Hyde Road

You know exactly what I mean Deks.

    Hyde Road

Can someone please tell me the track record, holder and time achieved when Hyde Road sadly closed it's gates in 1987? And if anyone has the same info for Kirky Lane, that would be much appreciated too.

    Crewe

Many, many thanks for that Steve. Grachan, the Barry Meeks track record (70.4) stood at the end of 1970, after which the track length was significantly reduced.

Does anyone have the details of the track record at Earle Street please? I'd like to know the record at the end of 1973, the holder, and the date achieved, and also at the end of 1975 when the track was slightly longer. Any help really appreciated.
  10. Erm, well yeah, I was talking about Keith KB, I thought that was what you asked. Oh well, confused you and me both Parsloes.
  11. All I have is 1981 - 1 match ridden, two rides, zero points (Away @ Canterbury on 7/11) 1982 - 1 match ridden, two rides, zero points (Unknown) You can't knock his consistency.
  12. To be fair he did actually have two senior appearances for the Kestrels too.
  13. Keith Cornell nows runs a successful waste management company in Ashford, and sponsored the Bonfire Burnup at Collier Street.
  14. Why do you need rooms Nicki - you could always sit in the bar all night.

    Thanks for that SG.

    Crayford

That is excellent Parsloes, thanks very much indeed. As an aside, do you know what colours "The Highwaymen" wore between '68 and '70?

    Crayford

Does anyone out there know the Crayford track record, holder and date achieved, at the end of their final season in 1983 please?
  18. I can assure you, if you'd met him, you'd remember him.

    Rob Grant

    Thanks for your help everyone.

    Rob Grant

Thanks for that Tsunami, but are you sure? The reason I ask is that Peter Oakes' "British Speedway Who's Who" from 2004 says Rob (snr) made his final appearance (for Berwick) at Glasgow in the last match of the 2002 season.
