  1. Arthur Browning couldn't have been too far off that in the 1970's when he rode for Birmingham, but 6ft 8" is amazing....... his leg must have trailed beyond the back wheel.

Great stuff cookie Boy, thanks very much, I really appreciate that. Just one thing though, the date for Nicky Allot, Phil White etc........ did you mean 1977 or 1978? And that Quibell Park track record looks like a record in itself - there just can't be another track anywhere in the world with more track record holders than that!!
  3. Can you confirm if the Kenny Carter book will be published and on sale too?
  4. Let's hope you're proven wrong on that one Lis, because Cardiff is in Wales
  5. I found THIS link while doing some research and thought some of you may be interested.

Has anyone got rider, time and date set for Quibell Park at the end of 1978 and Ashby Ville at the end of 1984 please?
  7. The problem is Trees, Sky won't have all their filming equipment in Poland. Each GP is actually filmed by a crew from the staging country and then beamed by satelite to any organisations that have the rights to show it. Sky only take their commentry team abroad, so it's extremely unlikely that they could arrange coverage. Having said that, it would be brilliant to see this meeting and if Sky get enough requests, they could possibly do a deal with a Polish TV company if there is one in attendance. Let's send our emails and keep our fingers crossed......... but don't hold out too much hope.
  8. Neil also rode for Exeter in 1980.
  9. Indeed he does, and wasn't it nice to see him so obviously emotional about his qualification............ what a difference a year makes.......... good on yer Howie.
  10. You are right, Uncle Ted was indeed with the Rockets (and Awks) in 1978, and yes he really is Shazz's Unc. I think you may come to regret the Old Muvva comment though. Over to you Shazzyniece.
  11. Well he certainly didn't represent the Crusaders in official competitions, but could have ridden in second half events, although I don't remember him. Maybe Ms Bird can shine some light on him?
  12. Jerzy Sczakiel way back in 1973 would be my guess......... not a good record for 'stay away from the UK' riders whatever way you look at it.

No worries 2ndB, your help is appreciated....... thanks.

I'm puzzled now, 2ndBender previously posted that in 1985 the track record was 59.7......... I believe the track was extended by six yards in 1984, so are these the two records for the different track lengths? BTW Sube, do you have the date Jacko set that time please?

OK, I'm with you now 2ndBender, and I'd certainly concur with your closing line - shame it didn't last. With all the positive talk of old tracks reopening, is there any hope of a revival up Barrow way?

Thanks very much for that 2ndBender. Surely though, the track didn't only stage open licence racing? They were in the second division in 1978 and 1985 (admittedly only racing three meetings), and also in 1981 Berwick used the venue to stage six meetings.

No worries, perhaps someone else might have that info?
  18. My pleasure PS. Had to be done mate. I think it may have been one, two, three, four............. let's see the Rockets score actually

Many thanks captain. At Park Road Stadium, do you have the track record details for that too captain?
  20. Joanne does make a valid point though. We have the British GP which traditionally provides a British wild card, the Swedes, Poles and Danes etc have the same, but there is currently no platform for young Aussies, Yanks, Kiwis etc to get their chance to shine. Maybe the Scandinavian and European GP's should be used for this as Sweden and Poland respectively, do have their 'other' GP's in which Lindgren, Ulamek et all are included?
  21. Can't help with the start time or line-up, but you've got the spelling spot on.
  22. The Premier League you refer to is actually on Wednesday - Birmingham v Sheffield.
