  1. Bone dry, hasn't been a single drop today and nothing in the last 24 hours either, thought when I looked at the forecast yesterday that the postponement was a bit premature. Workington Reds football at home today, Town v Haven tomorrow, Speedway World Cup later this afternoon (with Charles Wright absent from the Redcar side), if I were cynical I'd say it had been called off due to expected low attendance rather then the weather........
  2. Doubt it, Workington have one heat leader, three second strings and three reserves.
  3. Much is made of how good the NSS track is but in reality it's a narrow one-line track in the latter stages of these meetings, whoever gets to the dirt line beside the fence first coming out of the second bend first lap is pretty much guaranteed the win as long as they don't make a mistake.
  4. And me, only £2.50 e/w (main money was on BZ @15/8), but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as the saying goes 😁
  5. Need to go to 6pm start time, any water put down on the track has evaporated by the time the water truck comes round again. Or a stronger watering system, looks like an aerosol spray.
  6. Think Plymouth will fancy this; Grmek will outscore Workington's reserves, and r/r again for Cook won't make what Cook would've scored.
  7. Pole deliberately fell into him, conned the ref, equivalent to a dive in football
  8. Awful, 2 heats gone and it looks like a foregone conclusion
  9. Well done to Berwick, made Workington look like the away team for much of the time. And what an anti climax to the meeting for the supporters, if I'd known Workington were putting a reserve out to get battered against Kemp and Kildemand I wouldn't have hung around in the pouring rain.
  10. Would bet on PK to get a maximum today (if we don't get rained off). Workington don't look to have anyone capable of beating him. Or Kemp or Jeppesen for that matter.
  11. It's gone 3:15pm, heavy rain incoming and we still aren't underway. Don't know what the delay is as the P.A. system is unintelligible
  12. Hopefully Bewley and the rest will compete and not just sit back and let BK and BS get on with it. Bewley currently 14/1 for the win, seems generous to me, maybe the bookies thinking along the same lines as me, i.e. he'll be keeping out of the way?
  13. Seems a bit hasty, looking at the radar there's hardly enough rain incoming in the next few hours to dampen the ground.
  14. Been the same the last few weeks, presumably at the request of the riders. It's why I'm not there today, out on the dirty beer as it's more entertaining 😁
  15. Derwent Park was within walkable distance for a lot of people living in town, not the case with Northside where most will now be driving to get there, so I don't think a bar would be top priority.
  16. Only just, not a very entertaining meeting by Workington standards as far as passing goes.
