  1. Reality bites, Workington can't afford just one of their 1-5 having an off day when they're carrying the reserves, need at least three race wins from them all every meeting to have a chance
  2. Start time put back to 3:20pm, ambulance crew still on way here after original ambulance broke down
  3. Different meeting but the Chris Harris arrival at Glasgow tonight was brilliant for anyone who hasn't seen it: https://x.com/glasgowtigers/status/1778858047307137049
  4. Watched for first time on BSN stream, twelve quid but well worth it with a couple of pints for company. Well done to all riders, track looked a bit rough early doors but got better later on, could've been more comfortable but for the tape touch and one or two mechanical gremlins. Heat leaders all performed, as did Tate and Ant (they were just unlucky that there scores didn't reflect their efforts), Celina looked on pace, still doubts about Sam at this level though.
  5. I know it's early days, but first impressions: Claus - still got it Tate and Antii - both excellent today even first time out, once they get settled in I'd expect them to be the heat leaders with Claus Cook and Batchelor - best days are in the past but will still do a job Celine and Sam - looking like the weak point, but let's give them a chance and see how they do against teams with similar level reserves. Neither were going to challenge Hodder and Celine had a good second ride to beat Borke.
  6. Telling us who it is might get a few more season tickets sold and much-needed money in the coffers ahead of the season starting, I know people who are holding off until they know the final lineup.
  7. Can't see anything but pit area on Discovery
  8. You need the commentary otherwise you can't play commentator bingo - "You could throw a blanket over them", Speedway out of the top drawer", He's winding it on", etc etc
  9. Fricke lucky in Heat 1, was rolling at the start, should've been red flagged and rerun
  10. Must've known what to expect, he was only there a couple of weeks ago
  11. Indeed, you wouldn't see a better race than that even in the grand prix
  12. Always going to be up against it trying to prepare a decent track on an afternoon like today, water was drying up almost as fast as it was going on (which was after every two heats from what I remember). Track is going to need more dirt on it to retain more moisture and provide more grip around the outside, a few lads gave it a go out wide today but found nothing there and ended up going backwards, riders quickly learned that staying down low and hugging the white line is the quickest way round at the moment but it doesn't make for very entertaining racing. Mind you it has been very dry for almost the whole of May, things might improve once the rain returns and the track has had a more consistent soaking.
  13. Bewley can't blame Bartosz for that, he should be watching for the tapes to move, and not the other rider
  14. Was expecting 30 minute delay, very surprised to see them start heat 1. Right decision not to track grade after first 4 heats though.
  15. I agree that it must be galling to lose the match when a rider in an abnormally high scoring reserve position is consistently banging in double figure scores (particularly when the Comets No. 1 and No. 5 can't reach double figures between them in either meeting), but 'them's the rules' as they say, and all teams will have fallen victim to this situation at one time or another. But don't forget he did actually beat the Glasgow riders to achieve his scores.
  16. Went once around 15 years ago, stood in the 3rd/4th bend covered area where you only got to see half the race at the other end of the track , think we got well beat that night as well. Vowed never to return and never will.
  17. Hurrah! Another team without the full complement of seven riders, and no doubt another delayed borefest like last week. But I'm still going
  18. Disappointing from Berwick, expected more, with the exception of Summers they didn't offer much resistance. Pity he couldn't ignore the goading from the 2nd bend after he got beat fair and square in heat 15. Can sense another Comets away win tomorrow night, they're a different side to the one held to two draws by Berwick earlier in the season.
  19. No need for apologies or explanations, anybody with a functioning pair of eyes/brain could see the reason for the delay.
  20. Nice to see Dan starting to show what he is capable of at Workington and not just Belle Vue. Bach looks like his best days are behind him. Don't know what to make of Klindt, too inconsistent.
