  1. Telling us who it is might get a few more season tickets sold and much-needed money in the coffers ahead of the season starting, I know people who are holding off until they know the final lineup.
  2. Can't see anything but pit area on Discovery
  3. You need the commentary otherwise you can't play commentator bingo - "You could throw a blanket over them", Speedway out of the top drawer", He's winding it on", etc etc
  4. Fricke lucky in Heat 1, was rolling at the start, should've been red flagged and rerun
  5. Must've known what to expect, he was only there a couple of weeks ago
  6. Indeed, you wouldn't see a better race than that even in the grand prix
  7. Always going to be up against it trying to prepare a decent track on an afternoon like today, water was drying up almost as fast as it was going on (which was after every two heats from what I remember). Track is going to need more dirt on it to retain more moisture and provide more grip around the outside, a few lads gave it a go out wide today but found nothing there and ended up going backwards, riders quickly learned that staying down low and hugging the white line is the quickest way round at the moment but it doesn't make for very entertaining racing. Mind you it has been very dry for almost the whole of May, things might improve once the rain returns and the track has had a more consistent soaking.
  8. Bewley can't blame Bartosz for that, he should be watching for the tapes to move, and not the other rider
  9. Was expecting 30 minute delay, very surprised to see them start heat 1. Right decision not to track grade after first 4 heats though.
  10. I agree that it must be galling to lose the match when a rider in an abnormally high scoring reserve position is consistently banging in double figure scores (particularly when the Comets No. 1 and No. 5 can't reach double figures between them in either meeting), but 'them's the rules' as they say, and all teams will have fallen victim to this situation at one time or another. But don't forget he did actually beat the Glasgow riders to achieve his scores.
  11. Went once around 15 years ago, stood in the 3rd/4th bend covered area where you only got to see half the race at the other end of the track , think we got well beat that night as well. Vowed never to return and never will.
  12. Hurrah! Another team without the full complement of seven riders, and no doubt another delayed borefest like last week. But I'm still going
  13. Disappointing from Berwick, expected more, with the exception of Summers they didn't offer much resistance. Pity he couldn't ignore the goading from the 2nd bend after he got beat fair and square in heat 15. Can sense another Comets away win tomorrow night, they're a different side to the one held to two draws by Berwick earlier in the season.
  14. No need for apologies or explanations, anybody with a functioning pair of eyes/brain could see the reason for the delay.
  15. Nice to see Dan starting to show what he is capable of at Workington and not just Belle Vue. Bach looks like his best days are behind him. Don't know what to make of Klindt, too inconsistent.
  16. Workington were lucky/Glasgow unlucky tonight; if not for the Vissing slide-off in heat 10 (perhaps a result of the earlier third bend overwatering fiasco?) and his EF in heat 12, the points should have been Glasgows for the taking. Fair play to the Workington management for having faith in a local rider, but it's beginning to look like a case of too much too soon for young Kyle, I fear the team will be carrying him for the rest of the season.
  17. Don't think the outcome would have been any different if Bach/Klindt had been in instead of Jensen/Bewley; I was expecting a 1-5 in heat 13 from Wells/Riss which almost happened and there would probably have been a repeat or worse in 15 had Bach/Klindt been nominated. To be fair, Jensen was probably our best rider of the night and Bewley could do with any extra track time available.
  18. Not really, the rugby league is heading the same way, the Reds only get a couple of hundred crowd. The continuing drop in people's disposable income, increasing house prices/mortgages/rental costs, job security worries, etc etc is the real reason.
  19. Sign of the times I'm afraid, when money is tight then peoples leisure activities are the first to be sacrificed, just driven along Washington St in town and pubs that 10 years ago were well populated on a Friday night are either empty or not even bothering to open.
  20. Fair play to those Workington riders that did give it a go, it was obvious from the off that the Berwick side had no intention whatsoever of doing likewise.
  21. As I've suggested, with track conditions looking poor why not try a couple of heats before the meeting starts and before people have turned up and paid money to get in?
