Why does everybody hate Poole?
False dawn replied to FishersGate's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ah but. The real significance of tonight's result is that everyone now knows that Poole can be beaten over two legs. Fortress Wimborne Road is no more. -

If you count that as a good result, so be it. -

We don't bear a grudge do we? But the memory doesn't fade either. -

If I wasn't a gentleman I might say that unlike last year, Poole didn't forget to put the shale on the track. But you all know I'm not like that. I'll just add (another) 3 points to the Leicester league total. -

Sounds like the "Boris style" of rewriting history. -

I can't quote the the post I wanted to since someone seems to have deleted the Poole vs Leicester thread. I just wanted to ask our resident vegetable who's got the big balls now? -
I have some sympathy for your point of view. However, as with many aspects of modern life, for me, it comes down to my own sense of responsibility. If I take my grandson to a restaurant, I make sure he behaves appropriately. He doesn't run riot or badly affect other diners. Likewise, if Lenny comes to the speedway with me, I expect him to behave appropriately. I go where I know there's space for him to settle and he doesn't cause disruption to other fans. In fact, generally speaking, it's others that insist on "bothering him" by stroking him and asking about his history etc. Not that he doesn't like the fuss, he loves it. But it's horses for courses and it is always my responsibility to make sure our visits are trouble free. I don't take Lenny because I think it's my right to do so, I take him because I don't like leaving him at home for many hours alone. I think that's a responsible attitude also. So it's give and take. No one has a right to behave badly or to take a dog into an environment just because it's allowed and then cause a problem. You do see signs saying that well behaved dogs are welcome. Perhaps the signs should say, well behaved dogs and well behaved dog owners are welcome!

SGP Qualifying Heats and Semi-Final.

A very good question. I did think, at one time, that I knew. But testing it against what really happens, blew a hole in that theory. -
Leicester vs Berwick 05/06/22 CL

Nah, he's a promoter or was it a referee? -
Ah but. I did buy an Aero at an aerodrome. It was one of those yard long jobs, as I remember.

Good luck with that. I emailed them on the 19th May about the Championship Pairs meeting to no avail.

Aren't they running greyhounds at the same stadium? Normally that means no dogs, I'm sorry to say. It's kind of ironic, for me at least, since my dog is a greyhound. But even that hasn't gained him access to other stadiums that run both sports (Sheffield, for example).

Leicester vs Scunthorpe 28/05/22 KoC QF 1st Leg
False dawn replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think the Leicester faithful just feel a bit let down by Anders behaviour. He was cast as the "next great thing" and people are right, he looks like he couldn't care less. If he doesn't want to ride for Leicester, be it because of his Polish connections, or because they ride on Saturday, please, just be honest. Having just read the GP thread, Anders perhaps needs to consider the future a bit more. Serving his time on a variety of British circuits might just stand him in good stead in time. -
Big if. And will we ever know, so that we can make a judgement? Given that promoters have never published gate numbers, I doubt it. Incidentally, 2500 paying £13 is about equivalent to 3500+ going live. Two people (or more) watching a single stream only pay once.

How is 5 greater than 3+2? I haven't seen last night's meeting, but there is a lot in what you say. "Backing up" a race has always been a tricky skill to master. I recall Ole Olsen being a past master but there are clear dangers involved. But I have to say that some riders are consistently not looking for their partner, be it a pairs meetings or league racing. Indeed, we've all seen so called top riders who do their partners no favours at all. I often imagine the conversation in the pits after a team event.... Rider: "I scored a 15 point maximum, what's the problem". Team manager: "We lost".

Berwick v Glasgow CL 28/5/22 @7pm
False dawn replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I stand corrected. However the 3 permanent wildcards all came 5th in their respective qualifying rounds. -
I can't watch this live. Does anyone know how soon the replay becomes available on BCN?

No genius, but according to my figuring, it's one chance in 720.

Top 5 from each of the three qualifying meetings plus a local wildcard. Benjamin finished 5th in Lejonen, Tom was 6th. -

Unfortunately, Tom didn't qualify. Missed out by one point and is 1st reserve. Benjamin, qualified by right. -
Don't worry, it might not be Boris.

I guess my immediate reaction is, "A lack of loyalty, especially so early in the season, is likely to be reciprocated in due course". Good luck Anders Roweski.
