Ipswich vs Oxford 27th June
Hilly replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That's because it is weak. No chance we finish 4th with this line up, scrambling over the line at home and regular 10-20 pt defeats away means no bonus points. I can see two home defeats next week against Sheffield and Ipswich, season over. It doesn't even need GP standard riders, experienced riders who have ridden here before like Thorsell/Lahti/Pawlicki/Woryna would be an improvement or go the other way with a youngster with a view to next season. Having had spare points for so long, it appears from the outside like a can't be bothered scenario, that's never really looked the case since our return to the sport. Maybe they are/have been looking, I'm not suggesting it's easy. -

Riss and Kerr fail to beat an opponent between them again, we are drifting along aimlessly with points to spare. -
I'm sure Masters would find a spot at Oxford

Decent away point, another step towards a top 4 place. Surely if Boughen rides, we take the spoils. Take away Poole and there's not much to choose between most of the others on any given day, just need something extra come play off time.

Oxford vs Poole 19th June Championship

I was talking about Oxford getting into the top 4, obviously Poole will be miles clear from 5th -

The fastest line for a few weeks now has literally been an inch from the fence, more so on turns 3 and 4. Whilst this has produced a few great heats, it's an accident waiting to happen, especially at Championship level with more inexperienced riders on track. The Heeps crash could so easily have been worse with his bike running loose. Boughen bounced off the fence a few weeks ago but got away with it. -

Even if the first running stayed, was a 3:3 entering corner, 2nd running was a clear 3:3 before Heeps came down, heat eventually ended a 3:3, no bad luck there. Draw probably a fair result, not a fan of super heat but the extra point may well be the difference between top 4 or not. -
Kerr Riss and being well under the limit leaves plenty of room for improvement, alongside only just winning at home, no chance of any bonus points. If we are serious about trying to finish in the play offs, changes needed fast. Or are we happy to just see the season out and see if running 3 teams is viable?

Don't think Freddie was on the horizon but need to move before our next home meeting i reckon.

Lindgren now at Brum while we still have 5 points going spare.

How long until our new GP rider is announced?

Oxford vs Middlesbrough - Sat 19th May

The way Spooner was talking , sounds like he'll be lucky to ride at all this season. -
There's enough points spare to do anything they want, no reason for average to come into it.

Birmingham vs King’s Lynn, May 13th 2024

I take it the Villa v Liverpool match just down the road had nothing to do with this call off? -
If Riss has too much in his schedule, could easily drop his Spires places as they have virtually 5 points to play with for a replacement and link up with the Cheetahs instead.

Oxford Cheetahs vs Poole Pirates BSN 2nd Leg 8/5/24
Hilly replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Perry needed to take his third ride so no replacement would have been allowed, only to start from -15. -
Who realistically would/could race here?? You'd obviously take Lambert/Vaculik/Lindgren but seems unrealistic. Michelson? Thompson? Pr Pawlicki? Would be a massive missed opportunity not to use the points available.
-
The obvious change would be either Riss or Cook, depending on how they get on over the next few weeks. Assuming there is an actual rider available and willing to come in.

Crowd seemed to be well down on normal Cheetahs meetings. Not a fan of the way both teams have been made up, can see a few heavy defeats away from home. Some cracking racing, a tremendous tussle between Nicholls and Harris. Overall, a deserved win on aggregate I would say.

If you are definitely going, remember to get your ticket at least the day before to avoid an additional cost.
