  1. IMO the thing about Monmore is that you need to have patience plus skill to pass( PK being one of the finest examples ) not just the biggest balls a fast motor with the throttle held to the stop for four laps .In the past riders came to the UK to ride the smaller tracks to gain the experience to make them a more complete rider .
  2. So he should be no one can deny his ability but his manners leave a lot to be desired
  3. Scott will be 45 yrs old in May good luck to him I say we should make the most of him while we can , every match at his age is a bonus and he is doing the business as well .
  4. I don't begrudge Scott having what is probable to be his last season as a rider picking up a few PL rides ,he has been a great servant to British s/way
  5. If the 10yr rule was stuck to rigidly today there wouldn't be any riders who would qualify because of the nomadic nature of the sport in this country .
  6. IMO as has been said the novelty of these riders will wear off and with it the uplift in attendances they bring ,it's the product that needs a permanent boost perhaps Morris( not a fan ) may just be able to get the PL to change and make it more appealing to a new fan base .
  7. Is this not how the old Nl operated a mixture of journeymen( with outside jobs ) ,old -hands and young riders who either sink or swim normally within about two seasons .
  8. I do feel the the NL and Gulf leagues of the 70's were better balanced than today's but maybe it's "rose tinted glasses " I am looking back through !
  9. IMO the main reason for this is we are watching in the current world champ one of the greatest riders the sport has ever seen , barring injury he will continue dominate for a number of years to come . Back on topic I am not a fan of Morris but his face obviously fits !
  10. IMO Doyle is on the slide as a GP rider but will still hold his own in the PL may just be pushed harder than in recent years .
  11. Will Pedersen be anywhere near the rider he was before his recent injury , I know the PL is a soft league compared to Poland etc but I just wonder if he may not come back from what is a huge injury when many of his compatriots are long retired .
  12. A perfect summation of the man I remember .
  13. I first met Steve at Ellemere Port always had smile on his face , one of the sport's journeymen riders RIP .
  14. I would suspect that is the case his age let alone his injuries must be against him ever riding again never mind being anywhere near the standard he was before his crash
  15. Take advantage of the lower standard of competition compared to Poland etc !
  16. Seems perfectly at home in the House Lords !
  17. I remember Paul O'Neil( one of the best gaters of the day) did a season at Elle Port in the 1973 would often pull up in last palce because reputedly his philosophy was "not blowing a motor for third I'm here for them to try to pass me not the other way around " .
  18. If he rides in the Pl in 2023 he would be an excellent reserve/ second string especially at home
  19. I think it will having been involved in several planning apps it allows the council and others to avoid any blame about the ultimate decision as it is taken by a faceless / impartial body as it were .
  20. That's great news that's exactly what needs to happen
