This just might be the shot in the arm the sport needs well done to all involved I wish you every success for the future and look forward to visiting and seeing the wonderful stadium first hand .

Fair enough just tell the EL that it's all one "Boat " and to share the lifeboats equally including the Sky money if you want equality that's a good place to start ,

The sport has never been the same again IMO and never will be sadly . Could not agree more EL is making their problems the PL's IMO let them sort their own problems out, the future of the sport maybe to run the leagues totally separate where possible I have always thought that .

Some good points I think the fact of the matter is that the cost to riders in league speedway needs to reflect the income of the sport at turnstile , in a perfect world let the GP boys spend (waste ) theirs or sponsors money on the latest "must have's " and excessive tuning costs .In league s/way the running costs need to be cut accordingly ,as I remember in the past bikes used one season in the EL would turn up in the PL the next season and this seemed to work quite well .I remember riders wearing s/hand leathers or having odd mudguards ( B/Briggs being a prime example ) now even in the NL they look like GP bikes and I know that there is a standard to be kept but Briggs said it was more important to have a good motor than fancy guards etc.

Think your right about it being a full time job most riders that I knew back in the 70's in the old NL all had jobs except for the likes of the Owen Bros , John Jackson and alike plus that was supposed to be the the golden era ! Think you right Phil this country is obsessed with football we can expect no help from the media in that respect sadly

I agree totally too many people think that the problems with the sport will go away if the Big Boys return ,all that will happen is what little money is left will disappear as they will again .

Spot on this is exactly what people need to realise the sport was changed for ever once Olsen got his hands on the world title by forming the SGP and the big money reared it's head in Poland ,Sweden and so on . Work with what you've got and concentrate on making the product you have better I have been to Sheffield a number of times over the last couple of years no super stars were present but great racing in a good stadium with fans who love their speedway and a credit to British speedway .

There is no trick needed merely enough money as you say it is not a hobby to these riders "cash " is king and quite right too they should get as much as they can but PLEASE don't blame schedules.

Or offer them enough money and they would ride any day of the week "Fixed Nights" is just an excuse nothing more !!!!!!!

Quite agree should be riding the EL but will be a great asset to the league if he rides in the PL this season

No doubt at all he is still a force to be reckoned with I am convinced he would be in the Wolves lineup now( I have no proof just IMO) only for their reluctance to meet his financial demands .It is the general consensus of many that he would be the best s/string in the EL if rode in 2016 ,he is great team man and in many ways belies his years in fitness and commitment .

They all look the same when they put their helmets on he is IMO still a bit special on his day and I wonder if he could DU if things go" pear shaped "at Wolves ?

Sadly those days have gone for good Quite right but who says fixed nights is pleasing the majority or will make more fans attend that don't now,there is no proof !!!!

This supporter wants teams to race when they want not when it MAY suit the chosen few !!!!

IMO beauty is in the eye of the beholder with regards to s/way my 21 yr old son has never really taken to it just can't get the sport even though is agri fitter by trade and even the tech side is lost on him .My daughter 25yrs on the other hand loves the sport with a passion and attends the British GP with me every year and has been to other tracks when work allows .Except for commenting on some stadiums toilet facilities she loves the sport and at every opportunity promotes the sport within her profession.While at Manchester Uni she organised two evenings at B/Vue and two of the students that went are now s/way fans and their only criticism was that they did not about the sport beforehand . As always the product needs promoting and putting in the market place I really believe it is like marmite you love or hate s/way because I accept tractor grading as part and parcel of the sport I love .

So we have EL & Pl teams on fixed nights ( some tracks closing because of the restricted use due to leasing the venues) and still non of the super stars back because of the lack of money promoters are able to pay them .We would then have a glut of PL riders who would be lost to the sport as there would not be enough teams for them .The GP's are a good example of what has happen to this sport with most EL teams not being able to race on or near weekends thus losing some fans IMO. Fixed nights will not work in this country we would have had them years ago if they were workable and the sport was in better shape ( 7 EL riders not 5 and 2 NL per team for a start) ,if you want the riders to come to this country you will have to PAY them as they are self employed mercenaries. ( no disrespect that's how they earn their living)

Hope not "set nights" will not bring the super stars back it's all about the MONEY

Is the constant grading of the track not at the behest of the riders because of the demands of the engines being used in modern speedway .I didn't mind grading at Ellesmere Port in the 70's as Frank Varey used to throw hand fulls of sweets to the kids happy days .IMO there is no simple answer to this problem but think that there should be an aim to attract new fans of all ages .One idea that was mooted was to build a viewing area( within the safety fence) fully glazed along the straights so that fans were as close to the action as possible .I believe riders safety ruled this out which is of paramount importance but just image being that close to the action again as we used to be .
