  1. The whole thing sounds positive and can only be good for the sport well done all involved I am the first to have ago at the powers that be but on this occassion I take my hat off to them .I am looking forward to the GP and the track can only be better for this extra effort that has been put in .
  2. Prehaps they are all using GTR engines to prove they dont need the overtuned rocket ships to have a great meeting
  3. No better rider to develop it IMO hope his form will encourage all the doubters of merits of this engine and what is trying to be created here ,looked fast and easy to control though some of that is no doubt down to the most experienced rider in the EL.
  4. I think that all the riders did their best last night in what looked like very tricky conditions ,I thought Well's rode better as the match went on and was lucky( if I was going to fall off I would prefer PK following) to get away with his fall in ht15.Freddie was disappointing but has been all year by his standards ,PK continues to defy his age Musielak will become an excellent rider once he contains his youthful exuberance but is great to watch .
  5. Short term loss for big long term gain got to be worth it and surely if they can legislate for the change of helmet covers and dirt diflectors they can do the same for engines which might actually help the sport .
  6. Why should they be if they are made as complete engine rather than a kit in standard form why should it be illegal ,we have to think out of the box here and end the tuning to death of engines to the point that they are too powerful and unrideable on some tracks if not most. The riders need to have confidence in their bikes to ride with out fear of it taking them through the fence, Phil said that Tai's bike( World Cup raceoff) was so highly tuned about three people in the world could ride it .Do we really want that in our sport I for one want it to stop now and let's hope this is the end of the" Tuning Fest " that has engulfed our sport .
  7. I think the idea is to stop them from the point of view of the rules that's why the engine is being held back and being tested to the point that it meets the necessary creteria without being fiddled with in anyway by third parties other than to cheat .The best riders will in general win most of the time on a level plainfield just not by half a lap ,the only people this will affect long term are the tuners but that's life jobs/ trades disappear all the time sadly.
  8. Handbags and rough and tumble great for speedway and no one got hurt that's the main thing I am looking forward to the British GP and they both probably got a bonus from the promotion last night.
  9. I think we have to allow for artistic license here on the plus side we had a good advert for the sport on peak time tv ,the jury is out over the programme itself though
  10. Sudden Sam was one of the last to ride an upright and many say it hampered his career ( not that he did not achieve great things) but i believe that Ivan Mauger said laydowns are easier to ride due to lower center of gravity . It is legal to use an upright in speedway today it's just down to riders preferring the laydowns and everyone folowing the leader as always happens in motor sports .
  11. £ 360,000 not a huge sum in the grand scheme of things really to turn the sport around wonder what the top GP lads spend themselves on their engines ?
  12. The only people who will stop this working are those with vested interests ,tell the ACE tuners to keep theirs fingers out of the jar and have strict and inforced penalties for those who break the rules. Life is like that sadly this has to be done for the majority of riders and they may not pay out that much more because they must buy parts etc,if you try to consider every angle nothing will happen .
  13. All that is true but if a factory sealed engine is competitive and running costs are fixed all the others will have to fall in line ,the tuners will have to comply or be outlawed. This is a real chance to bring things back to an affordable sport, I have no issue with tuners perosnally but their cost are too high for today's sport. We need to work back from what is needed by the sport and not say it can't be done as always happens .It needs these engines phased in of a number of years a long term plan which is alien to speedway I know, look how they managed to achieve the air/fence safety at all tracks and the uproar when it was first mooted .
  14. Going back to the match PK score was amazing if you consider that he was testing the GTR engine which they say needs fine tuning out of the gate yet and the match ended as a gate and go affair as it were .
  15. First works rider maybe Wolves should get Tatum out of retirement( cant bemuch worse than Freddie at the moment ) as well he has been test rider for the GTR I believe
  16. Don't think PK has let anyone down tonight taking 3 on the spin( winning one ) and snapping at Doyle's heels in at least one other race ,he would be along way down my list to complain about .Just don't know whats wrong with Freddie but needs to do something to put things right otherwise he will reflect what happened last season with Tai sadly .
  17. I would agree with much of what you say and it is sad that time and injuries of old are the only reason we don't see a bit more of him ,loves to ride and has never lost his zest for the sport .When they made him and PK they did break the molds and it is quite strange that they have both been great servants to Wolves ,I dread the imminient retirement of PK every season ( or race even ) is a bonus but he too sadly will soon be lost to our once great sport .
  18. Paid max for PK there is a certain irony as it's against L/side what a difference a year makes
  19. Looks like this engine may have chance and Kelvin looked pretty good on the bike maybe another track comeback !!!!!!!!!!
  20. IMO he has no idea at this time whether he will continue or not ,he has had two awful injuries is less than three years and they will begin to take their toll no matter what age you are. Ihope to see him back on a bike but have my reservations sadly as this may just be one too many for even him.
  21. The PK bandwagon keeps rolling on Wolves gain is L/Sides loss, amazing performance back to his best and a heatleader again where he belongs long may he carry on .
  22. Big mistake by promotion to part company with PK and they are reaping their rewards building a team around a GP rider is always dangerous and there appears little else at L/side I am sad to say.Hope things improve for fan's sake always found it a nice place to visit and even seen some good racing there dispite people calling it a "trick track".
  23. Well there you go PK delivered the killer blow poetic justice by mutual consent ocourse You cant say PK was sacked occording to people who know more than we do
