Still think this format gives heatleaders no restbite what so ever unlike in the past where there were easier heats thus allowing riders that little bit of confidence they need .The standard of races from heat leader to second string are sometimes huge and that's what we have seen this season .IMO Freddie will come back a better rider next season ( should he wish to and the promotion want him) every heat for him and the other h/leaders is like a heat 1 and lets face it Doyle is on fire and Harris has hit form . If your on a roll as a team this format makes you look great but the margin for looking avearage or downright poor is tiny.

PK last legs wash your mouth out no IMO he is well placed still able to test and give excellent feedback a wealth of experience just a pity Tai ( would he be ceditible enough)can't get onboard rather than plugging his blood sucking tuner on the GP last night .

Speedway Satr Interview With Dave Swanton

Sorry I cant agree IMO I have no issue with riders stayng in the PL who achieve 8 plus average as you need a cross section of riders to make the sport worth watching. As to former EL riders dropping down agan I feel it is not an issue and they bring skill and experience which they are often willing to pass this on to the younger riders . -

Not impressed at all and to have a go at PK one of the finest riders that has graced our tracks proves he hasn't got a clue!!!! -
Think Rye would be a good fit as IMO he is better on the smaller tracks always has been just looks out of place on the big tracks but always gives 100% where ever he rides.

IMO the whole thing is being blown out of proportion but it is incidents like this that make speedway the sport that it should be ,I grew up with the likes of Jack Miilen &co and there is no arguing that they put bums on seats .I dont know Nikki or Greg in fact I have never spoken to either of them but I believe that off track Nikki is a polite, amusing and approachable individual and Greg is the smiling articulate individual and good embassador for the sport.IMO the great difference in the sport today as opposed to "Cazy Jack's" era is the speed and the that most riders are on the absolute limit just riding the bikes so any assistance in knocking them off balance on the entry to turning in can have extreme consequences.I dont thnk NP sets out hurt anyone but his action could lead to a serious injury and I dont think that GH intented any harm to him when he dived at NP .Both deserved punishment and got it but I would bet a weeks wages that we never see Greg pull the same stunt again but would not gamble a penny on Nikki not sending someone into the airfence ever again .

Wolverhampton V Swindon 10-8-15
FAST GATER replied to rudger's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sounds like a good match the warning was there in heat 1 with Ward taking the t/record IMO he is one of the top five in the world in this form and almost unbeatable ( just hope he keeps it together) as well as being a joy to watch.Harris did what was expected of him and who can blame the Robins for picking such a good guest they are enjoying areal purple run at the moment and the inclusion of Ward ( god knows what he is costing ) is a master stroke.I await the crys for the entire Wolves team to be binned off for next year but IMO that shoud not be the case .What you had last night was a rider in Ward that IMO Tai would have stuggled to beat even on his rockets ship and Harris enjoying the best form in the league for quite sometime. There is also the issue of the present formula that is only going to allow these kind of results to continue because there is no breathing space for the heatleaders and overall this IMO just makes their situation appear worse than it is .The FTS was really created to cut costs and it has but at the expense of the heatleaders scoring ability particularly if they are not on top form it just magnifies the problems for them and they have little opportunity to rectify problems such as setup because they have no easy heats . Imo take Harris out of the equation last night and the result would have been a little different a draw or a tight win with this formula the margins being what they are , IMO PK and Freddie would have seen off Morris . -
Spot on good post EDR is distorting results IMO and surely at least another season for PK

Well done PK off the deck and beating a top GP rider life in the old dog yet !!!!!!!!!!!1

Beast wishes for the future a fine example as a rider and a credit to the sport right time to go I think . -
Don't be too hard on Holder if you don't get it right this format chews you up and spits you out ,not his greatest fan but no one can argue he is a top line rider.IMO this format will give ALL riders peaks and troughs in their scoring but really happy for wolves to have pulled this off just wish I had been there to see this one.

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
FAST GATER replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
IMO there are two issues here starting and the riders after a false start with regard to the prolonged time wasting ,I eccept that the starts will never change now and we re stuck with this method .The area that needs to be addressed is the restart which seems to take for ever in most cases. There needs to be a crack down on ALL riders with regards to this and examples made whoever they are, unless broken straight back to tapes .If they are broken parked( not touched in ayway by mechanics ) ready to go the moment the tapes are pulled down and a 1min rule to be at the tapes ready to race the pit gate should remain closed at all times unless a rider is excluded fo him to leave the track. -
1 No Thanks 2 YES 5 Yes but pay football wages otherwise un workable The rest seem fine but will never happen in speedway sadly

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
FAST GATER replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
IMO the start of races is a key element in the entertainment value of the sport I don't want to see robotic starts one after another ,the tapes are as important to the sport as anything else .I dont want a lazer that has little visual appeal and would add nothing to the sport except cost ,if riders are at the start and trying to out wit their fellow riders it is better than leaning on the airfence while someone pretends to adjust their bikes .If it suited the powers that be tape touching would be reintroduced tomorrow whether we like it or not that is a fact as it happens all the time .It seems that most prefer gate and go and the risk of a top rider being excuded less lightly as they historically were the ones caught out and the underdogs gifted points at their expense .Many times you would see Mauger return to the pits after breaking the tapes, loved the rider but would often make a meeting more interesting happy days !!! -
Sounds reasonable to me fair play to Chris for telling us from the horse's mouth as it were

Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
FAST GATER replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Can't remember feeling the starts were drawn out just found it better than gate and go we have now just IMO but Iwould let the riders pick their own gates as well but the sport is thriving on these rules we have now so why go back . -
Is It Time To Re-introduce Tape Touching?
FAST GATER replied to IainB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
YES tape touching is what's missing form speedway sadly I am on my own in this but I still love watching Mauger ,Olsen and CO starts of the 70's ,why not allow it in an open meeting and see how it pans out .I do think they need to tighten up on restarts for what ever reason I think Tai changed a wheel or gearing between starts at the British GP at the weekend . -
Take the power away from those that have vested interest and use them as consutants as to the viability things with regard to the sport in general not there own personal gain .I have no doubt the Kelvin Tatum is not doing his bit to push the GTRout of the goodness of his heart but he is perseptive enough to realise that it is in the best interest of the sport to go down this road. With regard to Chis Harris he needs to make a choice whether he is going to be a pioneer ( great to hear PK is doing it but then there aren't many like him around) of the GTR or not .They need high profile riders to test and use the engine to get the best feed back and give it credibility prehaps Tai might have his conscience pricked after his out burst with regard to team GB and really would help the cause . With regard to cost of riders I really don't care whether I see a GP rider or not in the league as my preference is PL racing anyway but the main thing is that it is close and not one rider half a lap ahead or to seperate races in one as it were.
-
Thanks Phil for clearing things up
-
What is the truth then was anyone offered a GTR or payment to ride one ?
-
IMO the GP's are detrimental to the British leagues in a multitude ways not least destroying weekend speedway meetings, which affects the attendance levels for people with children .If riders are in the Gp's we should cut them loose and have riders that want to ride in our leagues ,It would not be bother whether there is a big name in a meeting or not I am more interested in the quality of the racing .It may well be possible to have an engine like the GTR then and leave Tai and Co to waste money( forgot he has PJR at his beck and call) on rocket ship engines that only three riders in the world are capable of riding .Cost must be cut and riders being able to compete on a level plainfield with reasonable costs that allow them ALL to make a living and produce a good product rather than gate and go may the best engine (tuner) win.

My own thoughts on he GP was that the track held up well as others have said gate 1 was a huge advatage early on and it was nice to see a surprise winner of the final.Have been on and off for the last 10yrs but felt that it was a little flat last night can't quite put my finger on it but felt last year was a better event .Think the title isTai's to lose but I hope he is made to work for it and his rocket ship bike dosn't give him too much of an advantage .
