  1. I remember in the 70's JacK Millen found out that Ivan Mauger had cut away part of the throttle slide on the Dellorto carb in a certain way ,one of our riders did it but it made no difference what so ever as far as he was concerned
  2. We asked nothing our riders except that they do their best in some cases all they had to purchase was their racing attire , the final straw was when we just bought two brand new jawa four valves and a month later one rider put his own weslake in our chassis . He said the Jawas would make good door stops and were no longer competitive the weslakes hadn't been out five minutes !
  3. Speedway is team sport in name only as Dean says , I have witnessed you get a young lad (in most cases ) who ride will ride anything with an engine and two wheels at a training school where you break the ice off the puddles .5yrs later he won't ride if he hasn't got a GP standard bike the track is not like billard table ,I have seen this so many times . Rider demands are why we pulled out of sponsoring what was in the end a thankless expensive pass time .
  4. I remember we used to have new tyres (Dunlops were in favour then) and change to a cut tyre if the said rider felt it was an easier race to win ,we worked on the basic that we set the bike up out of the starts or to suit the track if both were achieved it was a very rare occasion . We only started doing much to the ignition timing during meetings when we were using Weslakes .
  5. I would agree to a large extent but that can be said for most m/cycle sport ,the riders that have always stood out to me are the likes of Nikki Ped and Doyle IMO they have a slightly awkward (to me ugly style ) always seem to be on the edge fighting the bike looking I think almost as if they are going to take a highsider any moment .Other riders look like they are in an armchair Hancock , PK and Jack Holder spring to mind , I think Fricke , Bewley have a lovely styles but there no mistaking BZ his is IMO unique .
  6. Sadly at his age ( hope it is not a serious injury)you don't bounce as well as when you are younger ,hope it's not the last we see of him !
  7. I just think the sport is dangerous enough without certain riders making it more so
  8. I can't abide the fellow but he deserves his place this year without a doubt !
  9. Five titles in six years ( seems extemelly consistent to me ) now the same number of W/titles as Fundin ,think he is already one of the greats IMO he is the GOAT !
  10. I think Woffy would greatly benefit from not being in the GP's he is still a force at league level but needs to stop the big talk !
  11. Woffy has had a couple bad season (not because of injury) IMO his GP days are behind him ,Doyle( not remotely a fan) on the other hand had turned it around and deserves a WC .Magic IMO has shown enough to get a WC in front of Madsen & co.
  12. The cold facts are that the main s/way leagues are Poland ,Sweden ,Denmark and the UK so it's envitable that the bulk riders are going to come from these countries .we have a number Aussie riders( based in Europe )the rest represent other s/way nations accordingly . The standard of riders IMO overall is fairly even with the exception of one stand -out rider at this moment in time ,I am not against W/C's just who sometimes gets them but you can't please all the people all the time . Reputations and former achievements will always taint the selection process !
  13. I've a feeling we will see Woffy back in next season !
  14. Not a Doyle fan but believe 100% he should get a W/C .
  15. I suspect he will get one but IMO his time at this level is over !
  16. With regards to machinery it is a much more level plainfield today ,works riders used to have huge advantage in the 70's over the rest of the riders .
  17. Lets face it if we had 3 different WC over the last three years no one would be going on about the scoring system ,if you take BZ out of the mix the rest are well matched . BZ has excelled over the last few years ( IMO he is a better rider than 2021 he is more mature) is part of a well "oiled" package that has GP's sorted better than the rest . The whole presentation is better than anyone at the GP's ,his attire ,bikes and the colour he has choosen makes him stand out on the start line. It reminds me of when Mauger transformed the sport in 60's-70's ,he stood out in every way from the rest BZ is doing the same .
