This is my take on what has gone wrong at Eastbourne, its just my thoughts and based on limited Knowledge so could be wide of the mark.. 2019, the new promotion take over and take the club up a level They are promoting the club well, its a side built with the NDL side with a few additions to make it Championship competitive but substantial cost wise, there is a feel good factor about the club. 2020, With the club on a high, the club gamble on building a top team and offer wages based on the upwards spiral from the 2019 season, a gamble that the club will increase crowds and extra sponsorship. 2020 season does not happen. 2021 The club honour all contracts from 2020 and expect the upwards curve from the end of 2019 continues after 2020 covid. This starts to go horiblly wrong as gates start to fall and the club starts to spiral into debt. The business model was not thought out well, they gambled on the fact they could grow this season when really they should have cut back and consolidated.

Agree, let this promotion clear its own debts and hopefully somebody else will take the club on next season..

Ian has said he wants to settle all debts in the next 4-6 weeks. It would be fair to give him that timescale before we hang him...

Sad times, been going since 1976, worked with a rider for 10 years, sponsored many including 2 this season. Can see me drifting away from the sport now.

On the Eastbourne website it says Doesnt sound as if they will be back next year

During lockdown people didnt have many choices in the area to go to, since the country oppened up people are going to other attractions..

I may be wrong but I thought that Martin didn't have anything to do with the Stadium anymore?

Maybe because he's not in a clubs official declared 1-7..

IF the BSPL are holding things up with statements etc what about the riders? If the club is going to close they are running out of time to get fixed up elsewhere..

Apparently there was a short statement but this has now been removed from the website

I think you will find that dark clouds are over most speedway tracks now and in the near future..

Lee is a welcome part of the Eastbourne management team and he has worked tirelessly for Eastbourne. You can obviously question a few things about Eastbourne this season but not the role Lee has done for the club, keep your powder dry on this one...

The best of the young British talent are already tied up with Polish clubs, Kemp, Rowe and Brennan already have a team in Poland.. For me, after Bewley, Tom Brennan looks like he will break through to Poland

I agree with you, adding another possible top heat leader will not be cheap to go with IF any riders do become available due to the demise of another club then possibly strengthen the engine room of the side would be better team wise and affordable. Kyle Newman would spring to mind if available.

With all due respect, you don't know that and it comes across as your questioning Eastbourne's business model without knowing the facts and coming across a little ITK..

Hes got a point, you need more clubs in the top league and a watered down lower legue with minimal doubling up.. trouble is, riders wouldnt make that pay in either league
