National League 2021 - has it been abandoned?
M.D replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in National League Speedway
Agree, Tom has lost almost two years so far so this season is really his first full year out of the NDL -
And the south west of England breaths a sigh of relief...
-
Its time to draw a line under it now and look forward..
-
One man has done this damage, not the club. Promoters come and go but the club is far bigger than just one man..
-
A lot of people have lost money and you have to feel for riders, sponsors, fans and the impact on other clubs. With regards to a new promotion, I don't think brave, just a well thought out business model with investment up front. One of the main issues for me is the damage done to the fan base and some club sponsors, hopefully this damage will be repaired over time.

Richard is retiring, he was the media officer and had nothing to do with the finances
-
I agree with your points but not sure what this has to do with the old Eastbourne promotion over paying riders?
-
The downfall for Eastbourne started in late 2019 when Jon Cook negostated inflated rider contracts for 2020, this was honoured for 2021 and the financial rot set in..
-
I agree about Ian and always believe about the possibility of the other.. My understanding is different to yours with all due respect
-
For me and apart from the financial hangover left, thats all in the past now I prefer to look towards the future
-
So you would blame a new promotion for the previous promotions failings?
-
If there is a new promotion at Eastbourne I just hope the fans see it as a new start and their not tarnished by the previous management structure..
-
You bringing a lot of imaginery friends then?

Don't tell me, when you look in the window you see a reflection of KingoftheTrack looking back?

A sad weekend for British speedway, RIP Big Al
-
Really sad news, RIP Colin
-
To be fair its not really anything to do with Richard, he was the media guy so wouldnt have a clue what is going on.
-
Always believe.

With the very positive news about Newcastle, I thought I would bump this thread up. Newcastle are going to run, Oxford and Swindon could be back Eastbourne?
-
Fantastic news!
-
I very much doubt that unfortunately, agree with wishing them well..
-
They are willing and dont really make much out of it but the point is they do want speedway at the stadium but no they wont bank roll it Always believe
-
And this is a big problem for speedway that rents a stadia At the Arlington raceway, Eastbourne, they run Stocks, bangers but not dogs. They run bangers all season but they put on stocks for some very plumb dates during the year, New Years day, bank holidays etc. Im told that one of these big dates rakes in more money in one meeting than they get rent out of speedway in three years as they get all the food and drink outlets as well as gate receipts. The very BIG difference Eastbourne has over Newcastle or any other rented Stadia speedway has is that at Eastbourne, the owners of the stadium will go out of their way to see speedway at the stadium for the foreseeable future.

Apologies, didn't want to cause offence
