He could have stepped down on numerous occasions last year but failed to do so. After scoring 11 for Belle Vue on Friday, maybe he thinks he has still got it but the NSS is nice & wide so doesn't have to throttle off going in to the 1st bend at the start of a race. He was nearly always on the pace but it was his inability to mix it in the 1st bend & lack of conviction when trying to pass, saw a lot of us vent our displeasure last year.

You have to be wary that there is a big span of riders ability in the CL with 2 pointers at no6 & riding against no1's. Cook, Schlein, King, Kennett, Lawson, Wells, Nicholls, S Worrall against Flint, Brennan, Wood, Bickley, Phillips, Kinsley, Bailey, Ruddick, Thomas, Rowe Atkins. These lower riders still need NL to develop as some are only in their 2nd year of league racing. I do agree on your cap on riders that have been at the top in NL for a few years but it should, also, apply in the CL. Top riders in the CL over a few years should be doing PL & a European league.

Scunthorpe v Sheffield 19/4/19 CS

I knew I should not have posted about another statistic as it became "the kiss of death". His 1st ride retirement was his 1st non-point scoring ride since the end of August 2017. -

http://www.scunthorpe-speedway.com/?p=9720 There is, also, another statistic out there that no one has mentioned before. I wonder if any one knows it? With this being a difficult meeting & seeing Danny King here in 2017 riding the fence so well, I am looking forward to this & think there will be 6-8 points either way. This meeting will probably be won by how both clubs bottom 3 perform. Hope Garrity has now got his bike sorted. Note; Palin has scored 11 + 4 from 6 rides on his debut for Belle Vue Colts v Stoke in the NL. -

It was interesting reading the SS about the GTR being not up to standard when used on bigger tracks & when you get the warmer weather as it suffers o drop in BHP. Jordan Palin uses one & after looking back on the updates in Youth series, Jordan was in the 250cc category at Scunthorpe then in the 500cc category later at Belle Vue. Being a bigger track & also the IOW, Jordan has got a set up that works for him. Hope he does well this afternoon. -

Can practice nearly all winter on a smooth, easy track to ride. Very rarely see riders have difficulties. -

Plenty of car parking space available to use on speedway nights & stock car nights. At the circle from town centre, turn right into stadium car park costing £1(free if you get there too early). Or turn left towards industrial area where it is free but longer to walk. -
Congratulations to Ryan Kinsley on winning the first U21 semi final at the IOW. Unbeaten! Jordan Palin getting a creditable 2nd.

Newcastle Vs Sheffield Championship 14th April
IronScorpion replied to TigerAl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Jedd was brought over on the recommendations of Allen & Douglas who had seen him race & even he said he was a gater. We saw in the 3 meetings that he did have the speed & was smooth but his gating was letting him down as he seemed to be over spinning, bogging down at the start rather than surging forward. As has been said, he has only been on a 500cc bike for less than a year & maybe a year too soon. Rob made the change sooner than he would normally do & though it might be morally wrong by some posters on here, Jedd's father understood the reasons why & his replacement, Danny Ayres scored 5+2, before anyone else could snap him up. I bet other teams will be making changes in the next few weeks as it is part of the nature of our sport. -
Scunthorpe v Edinburgh 14.04.2019 KOC
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This would have just dampened the top surface making the inner lines greasy & slippery with not enough getting into the surface.(Unsure if you wanted the big bowser tank spraying the full width of the track or the sprinkler which would have dampened the outside only, keeping the dust down, which was apparent from around heat 11-12). Maybe it was one of those days when you could not get the track how we wanted it. -

All on a prepared, fair racing surface allowing both teams to have ago without much difficulties making the entertainment more enjoyable. A fair result but it will not be enough for the Scorpions to progress to the next round. -

From what I have heard, Edinburgh, being the senior Friday night team, were not prepared to give up a Friday later in the season so we fitted it in as & when we could with the dates available on a Sunday not following a Stock car meeting. With Edinburgh only having a meeting last night, we might catch them cold but hoping for a 20-25 point win. It will take some doing with it being Danny's first meeting but hoping the reserves kick on from last week. A 15 point haul from our bottom 3 would be ideal. -

We found out last year that Steve likes it a bit slicker than what we are used to & we changed it accordingly to suit most of our riders. You are seeing what we saw with Phillips. We got slagged off last year but we told you so. -

If that is the case then, who is going to give a place to an untried Aussie with British patriality who has a CL average of 4 which, I think have read somewhere, is now doubled from CL to NL which would be an 8. Not sure if this is correct but there are other posters on here that will know!

Lidsey came over last year, tried his hand in the European leagues & now trying his hand in our top league. Big steps in 2 years but at least he is having a go to see what level he can reach. Jedd has only been on a 500cc bike for 6-8 months. I posted this back in February Posted February 3 I, also, thought there were a couple of Aussie youngsters to try before Jedd especially as he only started 500cc racing last year so a year too soon was my thinking but Ryan & Jake must see something in him to put his name to Scunthorpe. It was only a couple of years ago we tried another youngster in Tom Armstrong, who again at the time, thought it was a year too soon, but we never got to find out as a bad injury curtailed his season. 2012 apparently, replaced by J Hart.
