Workington 2019
IronScorpion replied to TotallyHonestJohn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I would take a guess that the £30k in 2018 was based on outgoings ie: investment on bikes pre season then travelling costs(diesel/petrol) before he has started racing. Then there is the running costs(methanol, oils, tyres, chains, tuning, spare parts). Kyle was only a number 6, not expected to score many points(similar to our D Phillips) but was on a learning journey for experience so was probably on a fixed wage plus minimal points money as at one time he was scoring zero points similar to Danny. His £10k is his investment for 2019 which will come under his costs for 2019. -
Workington were removed early morning probably due to the announcement.

Probably going too far back to remember.

but it is unfair on the lads that you then let go. All teams are sorted now.

The revs are raised at the start but too much will lead to lots of rotation or the rear wheel leading to it digging in rather than driving forward. Towards the end of meetings, as the track slickens off, I hear what sounds like a miss-firing engine at the start line but is one or more bikes that have altered the ignition to suit. I remember seeing in a GP this last year that after a rider won a heat he was riding back to the pits & the rider reached over with his left hand to a switch or something near his cut out and was not removing the cord. Could this have been a secondary ignition? I am not sure if the rider was Andersen or Iversen.

There is one organised for Tai on March 3rd. Is there any news on Josh's Testimonial? Will it be pre season, mid season or end of season?
-
Rev limiters were tested a few years ago by a couple of riders at a couple of tracks & initial reports were favourable. D Howe was 1 of the said riders.

Can there be a block put on the selling of the houses that have been built but not sold so that the developers do not get any monies until all issues have been met. Otherwise, get a JCB to part demolish these houses, on the quiet though by accident, as we know what Brandon will do.

How do you know that these people have not put time, effort & money in to the club to receive these benefits. Have you asked them? -

Reading through the many teams topics, most are saying teams will be weak at reserve. MOST ARE! That is why the 38 point limit was brought in to bring through the NL riders to the next level & not the EDR fiasco that we had in the EL a few years ago when it was a big jump for the riders & averages was a mish mash. For me, it will be about how all the teams bottom 3 riders will score as having that top NL rider like Kemp & Mountain should score well at reserve. Kemp will move into the main body after 1 away meeting but should still score points against the reserves(ex NL) & some 2nd strings but he then will not have the scoring potential from 6 or 7 rides but a 4 point plus rider will take his place which is why I rate Sheffield. Having a rider of 2 points but is averaging 4.5 & Howarth who proved is not a no1 but again a steal on a lower than normal average shows that this team is made to around 42-43 already. But other teams are similar. Worrall has a lower than normal average. We have Nielsen who averaged 1.5 more than he is on now before his injury but we have Auty at no 1 even though I do not rate him as a no1 compared to other teams. His gating still needs to improve but he sorted his head out & proved what he could do increasing his average by around 1.4. Can he improve more? Unsure, but he was selling 1 bike so he is looking to improve his equipment. He just needs that PL place to give him more rides. There are places not been named yet though in the PL. -
Edingburgh got their track grippy mid season & riders couldn't handle it even though it is a different shape to ours. The EWR, since it was re-laid a few years back has made our track too easy to ride & when newbies & below standard riders can turn up & ride 4 laps without difficulty needs to stop. Giving a racing strip that produces entertainment & tight results is one thing but it is results that get punters through the gates & we need some of the old faces back & new faces to see what our sport, & more so in Scunthorpe, is about.

Certainly make sure the PA system is working & can be heard at the back(bar & food area)

Not forgetting the following 5 or 6 posts between WorkyWorky & Gazc with a post "I'd rather have Sarg"
-
Didn't Craig Cook start racing at 21?
-
He will be riding against riders he beat at NL level last year so a 5 to 5.5 average is possible.
-
Earlier this year, it was mentioned that GM & Jawa were developing engines with better oil circulation to extend service intervals.

He designed a new head/cam design this last Mar/Apr time which is the bottom, middle picture on his twitter page. https://twitter.com/pjrGM/

Cheers for the clarification as I wondered about the Perks signing & announcing he had achieved a 5 point average in 2017.
-
MPT & Bacon are the next 2 riders announced by Redcar.
-
I thought I had read somewhere where certain riders could not get spots because of their average. I was not sure if he/she was surmising that these riders could not get spots because of the reduced team average or because of their own high average but what was posted was that a rider could not ride in the NL if he had achieved a 4+ average in the CL in the past even saying if it was 25 years ago. Was this a wind up post or is it true for 2019?
-
Just the 3 teams that were affected by it!

Having read the SS about some teams wanting a 40 limit probably pre AGM then voted on a 38 limit some teams might have been sorted. Some teams were then changed to allow for this to happen.
