  1. Obviously you have not checked the rules for the Championship in 2018 & previous years. THERE ARE PLAY OFFS & everyone knows the rules before the start so no one was robbed.
  2. He is a good rider thwarted by injuries every season(could be a minus point) but was getting used to most tracks away. He, also, started the season in 2017 on the GTR, which he just could not get the perfect set up & changed back to his GM scoring points for fun but not enough for a new visa. When he left Scunthorpe, I got the impression that riders had to have a year out which is what was quoted in local papers & the SS. Even if he qualified last January by being in the top 3 of a state final or Australian Solo Championships, would he have then got a visa. Campton going back to Australia to try to qualify is opposite to what happened to Douglas. Have things changed in a year for visa qualification?
  3. At the time, it was a swap deal with MPT. So who now owns MPT? Scunthorpe, Peterborough or the BSPA?
  4. Congratulations to all at Workington Speedway on a job well done in doing the TREBLE. Strength in depth has pulled you through even to the fact that losing young Dan did not disrupt you. If the fans can dig deep into their pockets & help bring the Comets back in 2019 to defend their titles, it would go a long way in helping Tony, Laura & crew next year & hopefully, future years. What you can not do is move too far as you might lose some fans & not get them back. It proves with the attendance on Saturday, reported to be in excess of 1100, that interest is there even though the extra that were present were there for the history & glory. Hoping to see ALL teams back for 2019 & a safe winter. (It arrived early for you, -1C, brrrrrr.)
  5. Check the updates site as the texter (Kevcfc) is pretty good & he posted that 13 of 15 were "from the gate" as heats 8 & 12 were gated by Scorpion riders. Maybe it was just one of those meetings especially at this time of the year when the weather is unpredictable. You seem to miss out the fact on the NSS that millions were thrown at it. The EWR is purpose built for speedway at the start with Stock cars using it later & had to be adapted to suit. The stands & café(old one) & now clubhouse have been added over the fourteen years in use. Leicester was built to be a sporting arena of the area with multi sports using the facilities. Maybe the early heats should not be classed as boring but they are certainly one liners with hardly any overtaking unless mistakes are made.
  6. Your knack of English is something strange at times trying to decipher your posts.(Met not Meet)

I was at the steps to the grandstand talking to 2 guys when he came over & said "You're Ironscorpion", to which I replied "yes & it is interesting reading your posts some of which are long". We shook hands & he ventured up the steps.

  7. It is a skill where some riders are better than others. Anticipation comes in to it as well but Speedway is a race over 4 laps & not about the 1st 30 metres. Gate stats amuse me as if a track is fair enough a rider from gate 3 gates last but is quick & tactful enough to ride multi line tracks & win it is a plus for gate 3. HE GATED LAST!
  8. Sometimes it seems that Jason tries a little too hard & over does it. At the start of the season when our riders were covering for the loss of Stevie, he seemed at ease on the bike. Later on in the season & not just me, he became more aggressive on the bike, throwing it into the corners trying to score extra points where others were struggling. It was even said in an after meeting chat to concentrate on what he was doing at the start of the season as he cannot control what others are not doing.
  9. Congratulations to Workington staff, riders & fans & well deserved on the night. As I have posted, previously, it is your strength in depth that has pulled you through & riders that did not turn up on Sunday did so tonight winning races with not many lasts for others. This was my first visit & knew the stadium was used for Rugby & Football so the track is based on long narrow straights leading to 2 banked ends. This lead to a gate and go bore fest & before posters have a go, this is not my cup of tea. In previous years, I used to go to Kings Lynn & Sheffield as a neutral, as I read it was good but then stopped going as the racing became poor with gate & go more evident. This last year, both tracks have improved & I have visited again. I have, also, been to the NSS & while others have posted it is the best track in the country, it was bound to be as purpose built with millions thrown at it but it is also boring for the 1st 5 or 6 races until the dirt moves out, as is the case with most tracks. As I have read a great night had by the Comets & well deserved with the excitement of the score line getting closer & noise levels increasing, more so where we were in the back straight. This was similar to how it was in the Semi at Peterborough but we quietened them down when we found our set ups & gating shoes. Peterborough's track was devout of shale & ours was on Sunday & Workington last night so why does it take so long to get a set up to work. Do the riders not write things down or do they try & remember everything. I know in my lifetime, I took notes. The first 30 metres & 2 bends decided most races as it seemed as if it was a 1 line entry to the corners & with the Comets gating better than us, overtaking was at a premium as the Comet riders put their bikes in the right places when we got close. After have some fun with some posters on here, I finally got to meet some of them putting faces to names, even the 3 witches, sorry, ladies, seem harmless. Introduced to THJ & a few other posters & non-posters that now know of me. Spooky. Good luck in your remaining meetings as others could say we could have been rusty at having almost a month of not racing, yet your guys have had a lot of meetings, are race sharp with equipment still going strong. Much respect.
  10. How do you think he should react after thinking he got 2nd only for the referee to award it to Jensen. He is a passionate guy & we all show our passion in one way or another. The referee did not see the cutting of the corner with 2 wheels over the white line at bend 2 in an earlier heat by one of your riders. Even the line used was evident throughout out the meeting although there was some close calls by other riders later.
  11. Have you ever been to Derwent Park as it is a different kettle of fish to ride compared to the EWR!
  12. Again, I will reiterate I restarted(posted on) the 2018 thread. Use the 2019 thread for 2019 news/conversations.
  13. As has been said, an excellent night of racing worthy of being a final & televised (ok, a short clip on BBC Look North & the DVD). Workington were in it right up to heat 7 but a combination of slowing races down to assist in heat advantages, certainly helped us pull away for the 18 point deficit. Will it be enough? If we start how we did at Peterborough I would say no but after that horror start I would not expect them to do it again. I would expect Bach & Klindt to score a bit heavier on Thursday but that would lower Jensen's score & again, as been shown before, your reserves are key. Credit to Campton for stopping on to finish the season off as the way he was riding was a good bet for a good finish in his State Championship. Plenty of other opportunities for his visa later in the year & January Senior Solo's, as THJ has posted the dates, but team set up & places would be known at the AGM so a provisional place most likely. There was a noticeable increase in the crowd boosted by the travelling Comets but, also, families of the 125 juniors & also, many neutrals that wanted a speedway fix. Probably around the 650-700 would be my guess. Hope the journey across & down was not too bad but Thursday's 2nd leg being mid week may curtail some fans that ventured to Peterborough from travelling but we should still have a decent following for the Scorpions to bring back some silverware. Geoff100 made reference to a Meatloaf track, possibly "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad". Hope this is the 1 missing & good luck in the others.
  14. https://twitter.com/SpeedwayScunny Take a peek of blue sky with yellow round thing .............. but later on in shade & as it gets dark, wrap up well. https://www.theweathernetwork.com/uk/hourly-weather-forecast/yorkshire-and-the-humber/scunthorpe Note to travellers. The A66 apparently is bad according to posts earlier in week near Penrith. Route to Worky is still using A66 but heading off on A685 towards Kendal joining the M6. is this the route you are using but in reverse as, by now, you are on your way.
  15. Don't forget the prices of beer & hot drinks & food. £3.50 a beer, £2.30 a coffee & £4.50 a burger.
  16. Which is also what D Phillips could say but is against the rules as we would be strengthening up. What are Peterborough doing? CUNNING!!!!!
  17. I was stood by the pits fence last week when Ully came over & hugged a guy, said he was ok & looking forward to it & the lads were up for it.
  18. Your top 3 could score 30-35 & Workington's top scoring rider might score 12 or 13 but by checking the averages, Workington have done well by scoring in depth, taking points of each other, having a good reserve in Campton, Jensen or Bach & minimizing last places as proven last night. I keep reading if only they had Bewley fit & again it was on the updates posts but he is not a big hitter & their riders have covered for him very well. How Workington's team average is around 42 with the success they are having is amazing. Moving to Rye has lessened your chances of winning anything but it has still been a good season for you.
  19. We share your pain & the Panthers pain in having injuries during a season as posters have put on other threads about injuries hampering them at the end of the season but when is a good time. Our season was hampered during our 1st meeting losing Stevie as we were hoping for a season like yourselves with the team that we had assembled.. Hope the other injuries are not too serious as we don't want to use too many guests at the busy end of the season & use that as excuses. Take Wolverhampton as an example last year losing Lindgren & Thorssell. It is on the Kings Lynn, Poole & Somerset threads but it is part of our sport & the use of guests will continue.
  20. As could any poor scoring ride in the last 20 meetings as that is what the averages are based on. It happens. Feel sorry for Ty but good move getting Tero as it now stops us using him on Thursday.
  21. I know they do it in the diving marking but never known why. Maybe it is to remove biased & unbiased marking. They should maybe do it in the Eurovision Song Contest as that is VERY BIASED.
