Scb Statement Regarding Coventry And Cradley
greyhoundp replied to Agrotron's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Is this the same guy that chaired The Independent meeting at the SCB ? http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/speedway/mayor-rugby-tony-gillias-gets-7207324 Tony Gillias was back on track at Brandon last week, 37 years after he last raced for Coventry Bees. -
Scb Statement Regarding Coventry And Cradley

Not 100% sure on that, but thats what Iv been told, albeit 3rd hand. -
And lets not forget Brum did win on the night, one of your guys won the £150 quid from the 50/50 draw, Im guessing this would have been probably the first time a visiting supporter has won this Draw.

As someone else rightly pointed out, Brummies problem were the people who ran the club, if the Philips had sold up during the close season 2013/14, rather than living on season ticket sales and advances of TV money and not paying bills when due, the Brummies would likely not be in the position they now find themselves in. The Brummies should have been able to survive with 6 local derbies, just plan them in on Bank holidays. Cradley reguarly did Coventry at home on the Monday morning and away at Coventry on the night. The fact remains that cost of Travel now, greatly limits how many away supporters go to meetings.

Thats why Covatti should have been invited.

Looking at the comments by Bob Dugard Eastbourne, i think a number of factors are behind his choice of NL racing, there are fewer meetings in NL which is what he wanted, and if he does lose money in the NL his losses will be smaller than in EL or PL Leagues, also Im guessing another factor is his family, Kelsey Dugard who no doubts will benefit by riding for Eastbourne. Whats this got to do with the Brummies ? well i have said elsewhere i do think they will need some local derbies, the most obvious being against old rivals Cradley, and i do believe where The Heathens are riding will have a bearing on which League The Brummies ride in when they do return.

At the moment its looking like the rain is likeliest to win.

And there speaks someone who hasnt been to a great many NL meetings, Shads how can you say that when your local track is renowned for a lack of overtaking. The GP comment well you really are talking riders at the top of there careers and NL for the most part they are just starting out, you may as well compare chalk and cheese. Tell me when you were learning to drive how were you ? probably crapped yourself the first time you did a hill start.. or a reversed round a corner without hitting the kerb, i notice Lewis Hamilton curbed it a few times today in the F1 Gp. -
it has to be a 35/36 point limit for 2015, along with a minimum of 30 points.

I know you are a long time fan of Speedway Gemini, and thats whats so depressing, I can only imagine what first timers think of the sport, starting with £2 for basically 2 pieces of paper. -

If Coventry get to the EL Final, will they be holding a training day on the day of the Final ?? somehow i doubt it. Mick Horton you have a duty to riders and supporters alike to produce a safe and raceable Track. -
Cradley V Mildenhall Posf Take 2 30/9/14
greyhoundp replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Yes. -
Not really for this thread, but next Tuesday Cradley Heathens are at home to The Brummies in a challenge match, The Brummies will be led by Adam Roynon, supported by Simon Lambert hopefully with those 2 riders heading them up, we should have some interesting racing, just needs another 5 decent riders, 3 of heat leader standard and 2 decent reserves, it would be nice to see Danny Ayres in one of the reserve positions for Brum and possibly Ellis Perks. Adam Ellis and Charles or James Wright would be good to see around Monmore, whoever they can get it needs to be competitive.

Cradley V Mildenhall Posf Take 2 30/9/14

This is really why we have to move up a League, we have simply outgrown the NL, the only alternative is to Track a weaker Team in 2015. IMO it has to be PL for 2015 people are getting fed up with the lack of competitive racing, and goodness knows what the averages will read like at seasons end. -

It really is a great pity that this has happened but happened it did. For those of you that dont know Nathan he is not by any stretch of the imagination a loud mouthed big headed teenager, in fact one would say he is almost the opposite. I fear that the BSPA may seek to make an example of Nathan as he is an easy target being young and its only the NL so no great fuss to be made by one of the bigger promoters losing a key rider for a few meetings. Yes what he did was wrong and No one knows it more than Nathan and i suspect he very much regrets jumping into the crowd, but obviously in that moment in time his head had gone, with all the goings on around him, his dad being knocked over who wouldnt in that few seconds have a rush of blood. -

Biased or what, it was a few Wolves fans in the Crowd who were booing him. -

And here is what Nathan Greaves alleges happened, taken from his FB page. Anyone who knows me and my dad personally know we would not cause any trouble, James was cheating over my gate at the start line and in the end I just moved to please him, I gated him and led him for three laps he caught my back wheel trying to pass me and fell off, then he came up to me and said abusive things and shoved his head in my face, so I pushed it away, then he kicked my bike and ran my dad over and knocked him to the floor, to knock a 16stone man to the floor you must be riding into them with force, then his mechanic grabbed me by the neck as I was running so I couldn't breath so my dad hit him, sadly he's unconcious but none of this would of happened if James didn't turn around and except he had fell off and I beaten him, then I went over to whoever was on the floor to see if he was okay and someone from the crowd shouts something about my dad so in temper I obviously react, just wanted to clear that up with everyone who now hates me. And thats from the horses mouth so to speak, i myself do not condone such behavior, but there are certain circumstances surrounding this, which need to be investigated, Not only the riders, mechanics, but also the starting Marshall and referee, allegedly Nathan Greaves is being reported to the BSPA by the referee, it appears to me, that the same needs to be done of a certain other rider. -

I take it you were there ?, so far NO reports of this being started by fans, so please put the Tar and Brush away.. -
Of course the points limit has to be adjusted in line with the number of Teams in the League. this will automatically mean most Teams will need minimum 2 x 3 pointers and possibly 3 x 3 pointers in the team, with three 3 pointers that will leave 26 points available for the remaining 4 riders if the points limit is 35. So 2 x 8 pointers and 2 x 5 pointers, the permutations are endless, but there has to be a minimum points level also of around 30 points this will make the League far more competitive. Would Matt Ford consider re entering a Team in the NL ?, i dont know how long the tie up with Scunny is for, but it would be a good move by EL Teams to have a tie up with NL Teams this would enable them to have a steady stream of Draft Riders coming through, and we all know Poole have struggled with there 2nd draft rider this season.

I feel pretty sure Tony must have got the Go ahead from the GRA that the stadium will be available to use next season, otherwise he would not be wasting his own and other peoples time by calling this meeting. I still believe Birmingham can succesfully run either PL or NL Speedway in the 2nd city, historically i believe The Brummies have always had most success when they have ridden in the lower leagues of British speedway, the supporters seem to prefer to be a Big fish in a small pond, rather than a small fish in the big pond, also having worked with Brummie folk, they do tend to watch there pennies, and with lots of manufacturing jobs over the years, maybe it would be worth giving the NL a shot, dependent on what Cradley do in 2015, because i do believe they need to have local derbies to boost interest in the City, and theres none bigger than Cradley meetings despite what a few folk may think. It will be great to see the Brummies back in speedway in 2015, and i hope there is a positive move to bring this about come next wednesday.

I think he said it Tongue in cheek, but if The Brummies return, even the National League would be better than nowt, especially if Cradley remain NL, they would be sure to get at least 2 good crowds per season.its just the other 8/9 meetings they would need to attract spectators, but surely they could get 250/300 for NL meetings, and that would be enough to pay its way, Mole and Drury have both run NL Teams so they know what it needs and takes.. I guess it all depends what the Stadium rent is, wether or not NL Speedway is viable, because riders wages wouldnt break the bank,.
