Cradley V Mildenhall Ko Cup 3/6/14
greyhoundp replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Really cant see any way back for Mildenhall, jj will score well, Halsey will score his average, BDJ doesnt ride Monmore well, Connors are really good prospects, but overall Im thinking 56 - 36 ish to Cradley. -
You have to remember this is Speedway, they make them up as they go along..

Iv already said some time ago, i dont understand why Lee Geary has not been included in the Lion cubs line up, to me he was an obvious candidate. -

As it stands at the moment, not sure who the Lion Cubs will be tracking, doubts over Tom, and Sarj, so Im going for another Stoke win. -
Have to agree with you on this, something of a panic measure really, yep Aaron is local, but doubt there is much improvement in him.

Mark Robinson, good rider Montie if Scunny could persuade him.

Rye House V Plymouth 25th May

Royno, what can i say fella, seems every time theres a crash, you end up having something broken, get well soon mate, time you tried one of those airsuit things mate. -
Thats what Im saying replace them with 3 pointers, rather than look around for the best available riders and making them an offer they cant refuse, which has been our policy up until now. Okay so we may be able to attract the best 3 pointers but its still a gamble if they will improve or not, and some progress at a different pace, look at the improvement from Lewis Kerr absolutely amazing and Im pleased for the lad, then look at riders such as Brendan Johnson and our own Tom Perry, both seem to have levelled out.

I to can remember the days of Alan Totney, Harry B, Ivor Brown, John Hart, John Belcher i think that was about 1962 or 63 goodness me if we finished bottom but one it was a good season, then we had rider control but they always seemed to give us riders that were past there sell by date, we even had a second halfer (Lyn Brown) i think that was his name he used to get half a lap start, and by the second lap he had been caught and passed. Despite all of this one thing remained constant the fans stood by the team, and lots of those self same fans now bring there Grandkids to watch the present Cradley Team. Where i do differ is whilst 60+ home wins are novel to begin with, to get them week in week out does nothing for me, the old happiness is 40-38 was far more nail biting and on tip toe stuff, (not many seats at Dudley Wood lol). when did we last have a last heat decider at Monmore ?. If we are to remain in the NL it may be worthwhile to replace Starkie & Stevie with 3 pointers for 2015, and have the Team led by Max, backed by Nathan, Matt, and Danny, it would be a Team thats competitive but not over strong, and then as the Team matures they would challenge for honours every 3rd season or so. If we do go PL i would like to see the Team with predominantly British riders.

Thats the second hint this year, I think they are beginning to realise the supporters wont settle for seeing Ommerings week in week out, yeah it was fine a couple of seasons ago, but when you win everything you are in it only has a certain shelf life, and people have begun to pick and choose which meetings to watch. From my own personal viewpoint i do enjoy NL racing when it is competitive, i enjoy seeing the youngsters trying, but when it comes to 60+ points every week then the entertainment just isnt there, and the andrenalin rush is missing, If we do win the League and other silverware in 2015, then Cradley have to move up, of that there is no doubt. It will be somewhat different being a small fish in a big pond again, and interesting to see the reaction of a good few supporters who have only known success on Track.

Sorry to disagree Mike, but try telling that to Kent, Mildenhall, Stoke, Buxton, and Cradley fans.. Scunny, KL Young Stars, Storm and Plymouth have a different agenda, but even so Storm and KL do try to get there strongest possible side.

I really wouldnt read to much into this result. Cradleys riders are pretty much all riding close to top form, I mean Starkie and Stevie are scoring pretty well everywhere, Max takes all the beating at Monmore and does fast times, Nathan decided tonight was the night he would not fall in any of his races, and it was a lot to expect your reserves to do to much, i expected you to hit 30, and if Ben hadnt had EF when leading you would have done, there arent many Teams that will score thirty around Monmore, we just have the ALL round depth from 1 to 7.

Cant we do better than Yorkie, oh i forgot Speedway is reluctant to change.

Newcastle Diamonds V Ipswich Witches 25/5
greyhoundp replied to tilersrus's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Diamonds Iv just realised who the best NL rider is without a PL Team place, its Ben Morley thats the man you need up there. -
Deanno, the sport has gone, but they keep the blinkers on and they wont listen to ideas, The draft system in theory a good idea, but really only a cost cutting idea, but was it combined with reduced admission ? NO, so therefore people are not getting value for money, 2 less heats of EL racing for the same money. When the present generation of spectators moves on Speedway will be finished in the UK, but the powers that be cant or wont see it, it needs new ideas, reduce costs of equipment and quick, SKY or Bet 365 wont save Speedway in the UK they will just prolong the death of it.

Kent V Wimbledon Bank Holiday Mon 26th May 3pm
greyhoundp replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Robert Branford, Taking a year out to earn money to upgrade his equipment races on an English Licence hence he rides in the Under 21,s indeed he won it in 2013, Jake Knight retired. Weather forecast looks bleak for tonight at Cradley, i myself am debating if i should travel up, 7 hour round trip for a rain off, aint much fun. -
To be honest, i was thinking that myself. Or i will suggest a rider who could possibly replace Steve Jones as the experienced guy, his name Mark Robinson, now i dont know if he wants to return to racing he was being touted by Cradley fans as a possible reserve for The Heathens during the 2012/2013 close season, however it appears that the powers that be decided he should have an average of something like 7, which wouldnt bother Scunny. It may be that Mark only wanted to ride for Cradley but it could be worth a phone call.

Newcastle Diamonds V Ipswich Witches 25/5
greyhoundp replied to tilersrus's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Look at his winning times yesterday some 2.5 seconds slower than other races, he has been around long enough now, should be better than a NL reserve, sorry Diamonds but he aint your answer. -
Dan is a good lad, who obviously thinks he is ready for PL racing, in 2013 he started the season in Dudleys main body NL Team, dropped down to reserve, then at the end of the season his average saw him back in the main body, so is he ready for the PL ?.

King's Lynn V Stoke Nl (16/5)
greyhoundp replied to Great Central's topic in National League Speedway
Well done to the Stoke team, everyone will benefit from Stoke having a strong Team. 3 wins away from home it doesnt matter who against they have won them, you can only beat whats in front of you.. -
again in my opinion maybe the word being used is IF rather than when..
