The Future Of The Elite League
greyhoundp replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Yes you are correct, but also so far as i am aware there was something new about Morley not riding for Lakeside but riding for Kent (another twist of the rules ?) someone suggested its because Morley isnt a Lakeside asset. Well can i put that arguement to bed. I think on 2 occasions maybe more, Max Clegg & Tom Perry both Cradley assets have had to miss Cradley meetings because they have been riding for EL Teams. Then on September 1st we have The Under 19,s a National Championship being cancelled due to a clash with EL meetings. So may i ask how was ben Morley allowed to ride for Kent Kings and NOT Lakeside today ?. It doesnt bother me but a precedent seems to have been set now NL over EL Draft ?? over to the BSPA make the rules up as you go along committee. -
The Future Of The Elite League

Lets look at tonights EL meetings; 1st Wolves couldnt field a full strength Team because PP decided for whatever reason (Despite riding over the weekend) he could not be arsed to ride for them tonight so we had the RR rule so the spectators lose out. 2nd Belle Vue; billed as a double header and a 7-00pm start, The first meeting started very late and was abandoned after 12 completed races due to very heavy rain, the 2nd meeting never took place, so again the spectators are short changed and lose out, due to an avoidable late start and unavoidable weather. 3rd meeting Coventry apparently we had a ref who was a little shall we say different in that he had his own ideas on interpretation of the rules the outcome, we had riders needlesly excluded, again the spectators lose out.. In all three meetings the spectators lost out, and thats part of the reason Speedway especially the EL is dying on its feet. -
Peterborough Panthers 2014

Hall, Royno, Dilger, not the signings to make the Play Offs, Hall as has been said Ok at Sheffield, Royno really struggling to find some kind of confidence and form, and Dilger ? well Im amazed there are better riders out there and whats more they are english, you all mentioned JJ being dropped, and Olly not being recalled, well another who would have done NO worse than Dilger is Tom Perry, loves a big Track. Im sorry to say but with these signings goes Panthers hopes of the Play offs. -
Yes, a good win by Cradley, good solid Team performance, which i have to admit was helped by Mildenhall throwing some points away needlessley, an unexpected away win. Luke Harris started the season reasonably for Kent, then lost his way a little and his Team place at Kent, must say on this showing deserves a Team place somewhere, could help a few of the lower Teams, namely Scunny, Buxton and Devon who struggle to field a full Team most meetings they compete in.

I dont think HT claims to be more qualified, he is giving his opinion, wether or not people agree is up to them, we all have opinions, and i tend to believe on the whole HT tends to give a genuine unbiased view.

Abandoned after Ht 1.

Kent V Scunthorpe Mon 11th Aug 6-30 Pm
greyhoundp replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
And The 4 will be Storm, Mildenhall, Kent and Cradley. -
Yeah Just checked it out, Stevie is at Berwick.
-
Will the Heathens win this or the weather, I understand its a full strength Cradley versus a Mildenhall Team without Josh bates and Jack Kingston, There is only going to be one winner if it goes ahead, Mildenhall might get to 30 with the double points, but just been told the weather is a bit dodgy right now, showers around and about, no way i am travelling up from Bournemouth.

The home banker on the Coupon i dont know what Kings record League home win is, but its likely to come close should the weather permit, just hope all the riders stay safe, as Kents track can be tricky to ride, especially if you go wide looking for the dirt. -
Maybe not, but until recently they had been doing reasonably well, and we {Cradley} didnt beat them by much more than Kent. Just because we are top, doesnt mean we have to go around with heads bigger than Gas Ometers.

Looks like Benji could be missing against Stoke. No, and Brandon is still on there also, though it says on his Fb, former rider at BFR.
-
Seems the Stoke guest for No1 is being kept close to their chest, but Benji for Matt is a darn good choice.
-
Should be an interesting meeting, i believe Cradley are without Stevie Worrall, but not sure if he will get to ride if the weather plays a part, without him Cradley are weaker. I will go for a Cradley win by less than 6 points. If Stoke have McBain back they could sneak a win.
-
So in accordance with BSPA Kent should be allowing £8 for the 8 heats not run. Jeez it's no wonder speedway is in such a mess either they don't know the rules or they make them up as they go along, either way it's a sad indictment of the way the Sport is being run, it either needs an independent body or an independent person with knowledge appointed for a 3 year term to run the Sport. The way things are going there won't be anything left to run soon.

My Top 10 Riders On Current Form.
greyhoundp replied to barrow boy's topic in National League Speedway
There was a topic I started pre season pick your dream team, how do I find it ? I know most of the picks had Stevie Worrall. -
Dear me, £6 to another Kings meeting, so fans paid £6 to watch 4 races. It's no wonder fans are being lost that's nothing less than daylight robbery. Here was a chance for some good Pr by Kings instead they find another way to alienate fans. The Sport is dying on its feet and promoter's seem incapable of doing anything except helping it on its way.

Cradley Heathens V Coventry Storm 22/07/14
greyhoundp replied to Hunty's topic in National League Speedway
Yeah have to agree that probably 99% of the races were over after the first lap and 98% after the 2nd bend. For the first time I noticed a blue groove on the 3rd 4th bends. Definitely no drive out wide as could be seen by Nielsen challenging Worrall in Ht15, when Stevie was team riding with Starkie, when Stevie dropped back and switched to the inside, he was far more comfortable. To sum up, a good all round Team performance from the Heathens and yes it could have, indeed should have been more, Storm Nielsen excepted were on the whole poor. -
Luke Replaces The Injured Luke For Coventry Storm !
greyhoundp replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
So where is the condemnation ?. Storm are to strong, they are over the 40 point limit, it's a development league and Storm are Coventrys junior team, Luke Priest would do a fantastic job for, Scunthorpe, Buxton or Plymouth but NO the strong Storm team sign the 29 year old journey man. Don't anyone come on here and tell us Heathens fans its NOT about having a winning team in the NL. Good signing Lorro, and tonight will be the first of three meetings at Monmore between Storm and Cradley. -
So what do we suggest Cradley do waco ? Drpp riders every month to comply with the points limit and then the other teams can strengthen up. All the big hitters in the NL Coventry, Mildenhall, and Kent could have signed Starke, Williamson or Philips, and Probably Worrall, that none of them were signed by other teams is those Teams problem not Cradleys. However I do agree rules need to be tightened up, to allow a fairer spread of the available talent, 36 point limit with a 30 point lower limit would be a start.

James Shanes is a good move, James Wright could be equally so. Adam Roynon I cannot fault Adam in any way, either on track or off, but I do believe the injuries have finally caught up with him, he should retire and we can all then remember the rider/racer he was, not the rider he is now, he is riding around picking up odd points here and there, basically waiting for the next injury to come along, and each injury now seems to take longer to recover from. Adam should retire now, and if he needs to race, then Grasstrack or Karting should be what he should look at.

I think Stoke will take their time with Bens replacement whilst they have this facility available, Kyle Hughes who is motivated (yes) the Kyle of the last few years No. I was thinking more in line with someone like Birkenshaw, Allott or a rider of that ilk.
-
I think I heard Sept 3rd being mentioned. Here comes the winter league.
-
I chose Mason because of his away form, or lack of it, for me it needs your 3 heat leaders to be able to score consistently away from home, and your reserves to be able to outscore the opposite numbers at home, and hold their own away. Masons average is only going to get slowly lower, age is against him now, Baseby I'm not convinced by, he has been around for a number of years now. Personally I would rebuild the team with Lambert as No1, then go from there, financially you should be able to compete with all other teams in the Nl.
