Date Set For Opener In Spain
T.N.T. replied to motospeedway-espana's topic in International World of Speedway
Just wondering if the track will be available for training or practice sessions next February before the new season. It would certainly beat a few wet days at Stoke, Scunny or Buxton and be the ideal place to get things set up. -
Thinking about it and not having the record books around, has any other rider achieved winning FIM gold medals in three decades ?

Did Ivan Mauger never ride in a World Final in the 80's

Actually thought twice when I posted it Hans Nielsen did however win World Titles in three decades. He lifted the pairs with Ole Olsen in 1978 then the individual in the 80's and 90's. When did Olsen make his debut ? Won his first in 71
-
Hans Nielsen made his debut in 1980 in Gothenburg and was still in the GP's into the millenium. Ole Olsen made his debut in the 60's and went through to the mid 80's.

Joe rode in the Sam Ermolenko Farewell last night wearing his new SUBspiecies set up that has kitted him out for the new season. This is the same set up as used by Scott Nicholls and also signed up has been Josh Auty and Adam Wrathall. Joe had one ride against Wrathall and 13 year old James Sarjeant and won by a clear length of a straight in a time only just over a second slower than those clocked in the meeting. With Joe lining up at reserve in the Conference this year with Scunthorpe and Tai Woffiden and Josh Auty, it looks like Scunny will be in for a very good season.

Just Who Are The Top 15 In The World?
T.N.T. replied to GSC_1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Vertually copied the GP line up with bottom three adeed. Zagar may have done well in the GP's but I would not put him in the top 10, while Peter Karlsson should be in the top 10 easily ahead of Zagar, Nicholls, Lindback. If you include Rickardsson in the list then he would have to be in the top three. Protasiewicz even Richardson and Iversen shouldnt be in this list but where o where is Peter Karlsson ? Kasprzak ? Karol Zabik ? While I think Fredrik Lindgren could be a contender soon, he shouldn't be there just yet but Leigh Adams and Bjarne Pedersen deserves more credit than 9th and 15th and Nicholls should be in there somewhere. Where is Peter Karlsson I will have a pint of what youve been on please ! "Ladies and Gentlemen, coming onto the track now is the World #1, Scott Nicholls" Please wake me up ! Harris and Stead have no reason just yet to be in the top 15 while Tomasz Gollob, Jarek Hampel have to be in there errr . . . . have to ask . . . Where is Peter Karlsson ? PK ; Multi World Team Cup Champion, Fourth in GP Challenge, finished in the top 5 of the averages in England for the last two seasons with averages just short of 10 a match. So here is mine, based on league scores, current form, GP form, etc. 1 - Jason CRUMP 2 - Hans ANDERSEN 3 - Ncki PEDERSEN 4 - Leigh ADAMS 5 - Greg HANCOCK 6 - Andreas JONSSON 7 - Bjarne PEDERSEN 8 - Jaroslaw HAMPEL 9 - Peter KARLSSON 10 - Tomasz GOLLOB 11 - Scott NICHOLLS 12 - Matej ZAGAR 13 - Antonio LINDBACK 14 - Rune HOLTA 15 - Mark LORAM Just outsider or near consideration were ; Wieslaw Jagus, Jesper B Jensen, Fredrik Lindgren (ask again in 12 months), Ryan Sullivan, Billy Hamill and especially for Stevebrum . . David Howe ???? -
He rode at number 7 for Cradley Heath in an Inter League Cup match on the 2nd of June 1978. Bristol fielded at team including Phil Crump, Soren Sjosten and Nigel Boocock EDIT; Bristol won 40-38
-
Penhall rode at reserve for the Heathans in that match

6 Riders In The Swc Teams
T.N.T. replied to treborbee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris will be in there for sure Think Lee Richardson is in for a good season, so he should be there and really Mark Loram and Simon Stead filling the top 5 places quite easily. So who will be the standby reserve ? Lewis Bridger ? - should be a 6+ rider this year David Howe ? - with bp's added he will be a 7+ rider David Norris ? - cant see him getting ahead of the two mentioned already Edward Kennett ? - should be a good 5-6 point rider at Poole with Middlo ? Chris Louis ? - Will he want to be considered at his age ? 1 = Scott Nicholls 2 = Simon Stead 3 = Lee Richardson 4 = Chris Harris 5 = Mark Loram 6 = David Howe 7 = Lewis Bridger -
Will JC dominate yet again ? Last year he didnt dominate certain meetings, but come the semi-final and he showed his class. If he loses out in a few semi-finals in 2007 then I'm sure a Scandanavian will be waiting to pounce 1 = Hans Andersen 2 = Jason Crump 3 = Andreas Jonsson 4 = Nicki Pedersen 5 = Leigh Adams 6 = Greg Hancock 7 = Bjarne Pedersen 8 = Jarek Hampel 9 = Scott Nicholls 10 = Tomasz Gollob 11 = Matej Zagar 12 = Antonio Lindback 13 = Rune Holta 14 = Wieslaw Jagus 15 = Chris Harris

As stated, I remember the announcement that the meeting had closed. Wolves still hand out the Gary Peterson Trophy to the rider that scores the most bonus points each season Think Ronnie Correy has held it for the last two years.

Read a few of the posts on this moved subject (?) and thought I would look in other areas. Mabopane, South Africa Odi Stadium, SA This one is where the Kaiser Chiefs play their home games Johannesburg Stadium This one is the Olympic Stadium in 1958 in Tokyo National Stadium, JAPAN How about Bejing in China ? Workers Stadium, CHINA How about a Singapore Sling ? National Stadium

Just been watching a World Football programme that shows highlights and goals from around the world and the African section was quite interesting. Everyone of the venues was set in stadiums with oval tracks around them. Only one was a running track and a few looked more like race tracks. One where Gambia played and won a penalty shoot out was a ready made circuit. So I looked into Stadiums in Africa and came accross these few Stadiums that could easily hold a Speedway GP What do you think ? Stade Brikama - Gambia Stade Felix - Ivory Coast Stade Anjalay - Mauritius Kumasi Sports Stadium - Ghana Accra Stadium - Ghana Len Clay Stadium - Ghana (race track) Stade de la Revolution - Congo Liberty Stadium - Nigeria Enyimba Stadium - Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe - Nigeria Liberation Stadium - Nigeria Nyayo Stadium - Kenya (race track?) Casablanca - Morrocco Could Speedway hold a GP round in Gambia, Kenya etc. are you watching Mr BSI ? What other countries or Stadiums could be adapted easily for Speedway ?

The Grahame brothers (Alan, Andy and John) all competed in moto cross events even when still riding speedway and I think Andy rode after he finished speedway. Sam Ermolenko raced some moto cross in America before coming over here and I think most of the Americans did. Billy Hamill still competes in Enduro races and dirt track races in America where his son is competing as a junior. This thread starts off stating they read a post about Tom Leadbitter Can someone post a link to the thread as Tom was a family friend of ours and he used to take me out on the bikes along with former riders Roger Harvey and Rob Hooper who still live very close to me now. Roger is head of Honda off road racing and travels the world to events.

I was at the meeting when Gary was killed and can still picture the crash clearly. He was entering the third turn trailing Alan Grahame and had Malcolm Shakespear just behind him. Gary went mid track and at the apex of the bend, Gary's front wheel hit Big Al's back wheel. This made Gary lock up and spun him around 180 degrees which now meant he was facing the fence. All this happened in a split second and Gary was going backwards off his bike which resulted in him pulling on the power and hurtled straight into the fence. The fence has always been very safe at Wolves, but sadly Gary hit the fence at speed and was thrown over the fence and head first into a lighting stanction mid track. This was around heat 10 or 12 of the scheduled 13 heats and I thought it was called off straight after, but I was only 8 at the time and maybe wrong. However this is the only Speedway meeting (thankfully) that I have been at where a rider was killed on track and seem to recall being told the meeting was cancelled. If the meeting did continue, then maybe he was rushed straight to hospital with the riders told it was just serious ? - Not sure. Gary was one of my favourites and as I got older, it suprised me that he was only a 6 point rider as he always seemed to win a fair number of races.

Well I hope TJ Fowler can win this and get himself back on track towards what could be a great career. Looking forward to seeing Krystal Cramer in the Youth Championship. A lady rider who could win this and will be a serious contender to move up in future years. Also young Kurtis Hamill in the Pee Wee Races. Will be wearing his dads #104.

Chris Harris in the GP '07
T.N.T. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As Martin was a wild card for that round, when was the last time a British GP rider won a round ? -
Chris Harris in the GP '07
T.N.T. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Using these rankings by Hazzman . . . with GP riders in red, strange how PK weighs in joint 10th and isnt included, while Harris ranked #25 does So next years GP's will be the best 13 riders in the world plus I wild card and 2 others !! -

T.N.T. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Im not British !! I'm English and damn proud of it. This damn political correct attitude is absolute bull. If someone is good enough to fill a job vacancy, what does it matter if he is black, white, yellow or green with blue spots. If they are good enough for the job, hire them. Peter Karlsson could be from Birmingham, New Dehli or Sydney - the fact is, he is a much better rider than Chris Harris and the only reasons he has been over looked is he is 37 in December and the BSI - FIM feel they HAVE TO have 2 brits in the field. Rubbish !! - put the best 12 riders in, plus three riders that have actually qualified and then one wild card that can be a home rider for each round. Now you may say this is my view because I follow Wolves. Well nothing could be further from the truth. I follow Speedway first and Wolves second and when I watch the GP's I want to see the best riders in the world, bot those that are in there because its PC. My views on the Wolves team for 2007 dont include PK as much as I like him and view him as one of the greatest riders to don the race jacket. I feel the team should be more balanced and PK is too good for that position in such a team. So I'm not offended, just feel PK and a few more possibly deserve the GP's ahead of a rider averaging just under 7 in his own league, not matter where they come from. -
Chris Harris in the GP '07
T.N.T. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bet they really are more impressive than those of PK arent they !! Just missed out of the final - PK just missed out on qualyfing !! Its a World Championship, nationalality should not come into it. If they are good enough, then fine. A wild Card is available at each round to have a home rider there, not a regular slot. !! Three points made, Peter Karlsson qualifies ahead of him on each one . . anything else you can think of that justifies Harris ahead of PK ??
