  1. Don’t think Birmingham are planning to dispose of Laurence Rogers if they run! ;-)
  2. Been told it was the broken lamp standard that hit cameraman rather than bike. Hoping it’s positive news in his condition.
  3. Awful incident - let’s hope the cameraman is okay.
  4. Poole fans - my business partner is bringing along a group of people for a first time visit on Wednesday, is there general access to the pits (or paddock as he loves to call it) pre-racing and if so, any ideas on times etc? Thanks Paul.
  5. Good to see so many Pirates fans making the journey to Perry Barr last night, haven't seen Steve Shov for about 15 years so good to have a chat. The Pirates on the min-bus certainly were good voice on arrival and all seemed to make it safe and sound back from their visit to the Wetherspoon's over the road from the Stadium. On track, clinical stuff from Poole from the off meant it was game, set and match after 3 heats. Mini-bus of Brum fans heading down to Wimborne Road for the return next week.
  6. Hey Shov it's been a few years - good to know you're coming up, we've been told 2 mini-buses of Poole fans as well. Make sure you say hello! Everything went a bit pear shaped on and off the track for Birmingham last week! Hoping you a quieter evening tomorrow , the trudge up and down the stairs to the officials / streaming box was good for my daily steps though ;-)
  7. Press release with team news out tomorrow morning!
  8. Watched the stream should have been abandoned after heat 1 when Pickering and Morris out of shape, you know things aren’t good. Joe Thompson broken collarbone in heat 2.
  9. The track situation was unfortunate to start with, but these things happen, but I can understand people's frustration at the delay. Remedial work can sometimes have an even worse effect on a track, so credit for getting things improved. Thought Brummies a little hard done by Heat 2 but overall little impact on the result and as Stewart Dickson has said today, changes needed for Brum to push for that up for grab 6th place in the league. Very impressed by the size of the crowd and also the number of families in at Oxford, the place will be absolutely packed next week for Poole's visit I should Imagine.
  10. Heat 2 stopped - looked to me that the guys really struggled to turn bike.
  11. Looking forward to visiting Cowley tonight, so many memories of watching Reading Racers there in the 80/90's and even Bulldogs - usually ending in defeat mind!
  12. Back to Brummies. Following on from Saturday’s Press Release, more news out in the morning.
  13. Tonight’s match on https://www.brummies.tv/
  14. Discovery + is free with Sky Q just announcing Laguta signing
  15. Thank you Sir, as a Director and minor shareholder of the club, I can safely say Nigel and my fellow Directors know that last Wednesday wasn't acceptable. Hopefully, the actions being undertaken will avoid such disappointing evenings moving forward.
  16. Joe Thompson in for Ty Proctor with immediate effect. Hopefully James will be fit for the home match against Edinburgh, he is working very hard on his rehab.
  17. He said talk to me Pinny, with much love!
  18. Brummies TV launches this week! Birmingham Brummies Speedway: BRUMMIES TV LAUNCHES THIS WEEK (birmingham-speedway.com)
  19. Thanks for clarifying one of my fellow Directors mentioned you used to be the webmaster so that's the reason I asked! I think like most speedway clubs Brummies are very aware of an ageing fanbase, hence the fact we are trying to address that by reaching out to schools, clubs etc as well advertising in various outlets to promote a family friendly sport.
  20. For someone who was the once the webmaster for Birmingham, why is it your so negative about the club these days, Martin?
  21. Everyone is entitled to opinions but as a Director and minority shareholder in Birmingham Speedway I'd just like to clear a few things up: Not a single season ticket was sold after Adam Ellis was signed!! The season tickets holders from 2022 have remained very loyal with a renewal rate of over 85% already. I don't recall anyone from the club saying that James Pearson was the new Darcy Ward! James is an emerging talent and was recommended by Leigh Adams, Craig Watson and Phil Morris amongst others, hopefully, he will build on his first season and prove a real asset in 2023. I don't think James is a Darcy Ward pretender, he's just a 17 year old lad with decent ability looking to develop a career in the sport! As all fans know, due to the new promotion having access to the rider market later than all other Championship teams, it was extremely tough to sign heat leader standard riders. Adam Ellis' signing was always a risk with his other commitments, when it became apparent he would miss matches and risk having a ban in the UK it made sense for him to be released with Justin Sedgman being available proving a solid replacement. As for Claus Vissing, he disappointed on and off track, trying to move goal posts several times on an agreed deal! In an ideal world he wouldn't have been first choice, but as other teams found out there weren't riders queuing up to ride in the UK on a midweek evening! Broken promises? Is that Nigel Tolley saying our aspirations were to get into the play-off's? The two main shareholders Nigel and Tracey Smith worked their butts off to keep Birmingham Speedway going in 2022 and are continuing to do that alongside a band of willing volunteers so that 2023 will be more successful. Finally, this is all coming from someone who closely associated himself with the Phillips promotion at Birmingham, whose legacy was to break more promises than the current ever will!
  22. Ulrich would never go out to hurt anyone, he's a mate of Paco's, it was racing - Ulle apologised, Paco accepted that, they had a hug and we move on. Josh did a silly move on Ulrich a few weeks back in Elite, they had a chat, they shake hands, they move on.
