Great performance lads. By my reckoning the real table now looks like this Workington +5 Ipswich +4 And outside the play off positions Sheffield +4 , but with poor points difference Peterborough +3. So in theory, we have to beat Newcastle at home, then match whatever Sheffield do at Rye when we go to Newcastle. Hopefully Rye will do the business, and a win on Thursday will seal it for us. -

Spot on Scotsman. How many false starts did we see in the Olympics? They don't try to cheat as the punishment fits the crime. I got so p****d off last night, I left after the 2nd failed attempt to start heat 14. There are many ways to stop this, but no one seems to care about the fans who have to stand around for ages while they mess around. -

Hotel booked up North, but there's a threat of rain so not bothering, found a game of footy so that'll do for me. Any thoughts or putting Speedway first wasn't helped at Foxhall tonight, how many restarts? When will the idiots that run this sport sort this out, my patience is running out, but they won't do anything about it, as that would make the fans happy. Anyway good luck to the lads in their attempt to get four points. -
Initial thought is a big fat yes. I've only ever spoken to a Promoter once about the value of loan fees or full transfer. It worked out a transfer would be the value of 5-6 years of loan fees, so it's always a bit of a gamble from both sides. But we don't see many big transfer fees paid these days, so maybe the value of transfers and loans have changed a fair bit over the years.

Redcar Vs Ipswich Thursday 25th August

Will be for us as well then, we don't ride them until the 18th. With P'boro being so bad, us Witches have got to start worrying about Workington getting above us in the real table as they could also pick up some easy points when they go to P'boro. -

After reading all the various advice on here about getting BT for free, I went down the semi honest route. Borrowed sister's password, put BTgo on my laptop then brought HDMI lead and fed it straight to the telly. Works perfectly. -

Not too sure why you think the P'boro V Newcastle match will help us Badly. Surely the only team we can catch is Sheffield, unless of course you've based your assumption on the fact that P'boro could lose a couple more at home. I don't want Newcastle to get too confident at the moment, as it looks like we'll have to go there and get a point, if we can get 4 at Redcar. All irrelevant if Sheffield get anything from their away meetings or we don't win tomorrow. -

The table remains the same then. The best hope we had of making the play offs was to hope that Sheffield slipped up at home to Somerset last week or Edinburgh tonight. That didn't happen so now we need 5 points from our remaining two away meetings, and hope Sheffield don't pick up anything on the road. Unlikely, but you never know. I made the right decision to stay at home tonight. 2 reasons, Workington are rarely worth watching away from home, and I'm really falling out of love with the sport, when they sort out the messing around at the start then I'll start going again. There's usually more false starts in one meeting these days than we've had in the whole of the Olympics, why? because in the Olympics the punishment fits the crime, in speedway it's worth trying to cheat as you get another chance. -

I can I can see where you're coming from Baldy, but we're 4 points behind Sheffield in the real table with Redcar and Newcastle to come away. I'm allowing for the fact that Workington never win away. Only snag with my hope of us scraping in is, Sheffield's best hope of a point is their last meeting at Rye House, and last time we wanted that lot to do us a favour they let us down big time. Hopefully it won't be a case of day-jar-voo (as they say in Essex). -

No one has ever accused me of that on here before, the only Glasgow fans i've spoke to were bragging about their millionaire owners. A promoter told me last season they had agreed to sign a rider until moneybags Glasgow came along and offered him stupid money. Nothing wrong with it, it happens in all sports, I was surprised you got upset just because I wrote what everybody knows. -

I doubt we could have competed with moneybags Glasgow to sign BB, but probably wouldn't have gone for him after he was fairly average last time, but he's certainly doing the business now. -

So our very very slim hopes are still very very slim, but at least when we go away we put up a fight these days. -

I hope the decision to replace Priest in wrong heat doesn't cost us too much. No way Joe was getting anything in heat 10, should have saved that move for heat 14. -

Sorry it doesn't prove your point, the riders HAVE to be there or face a ban. We all know it's a Mickey mouse meeting, but from a riders perspective they have no choice, so why should the fans at Workington tonight get less quality than they would normally expect. -

Just hope our lot get their set ups right from the start, unlike last season. 5-1 5-1 5-1 4-2 if memory serves, then we got things sorted and snatched a point. Shame the fans are being short changed, why replace 2 good exciting riders who have a perfectly good reason for not being there with 2 juniors? -

Not bad, just a shame we weren't there last week. Still need at least 2 more away wins to get close to the play offs. -

We're still 7-8 points behind the top six in the real table, so as Baldy says, we really really do need to win this. -

My initial thought also when i read Phil's post, but thinking about it, it can also happen in Cricket if the pitch is too good, you end up with a boring draw. -

I don't blame Greg, I blame the idiots that decided to put the hosts straight into the final. There's only 6 decent teams in the World at the moment, but we've ended up with 7 teams in Manchester. Would I risk injury and plenty of big paydays in the next few weeks when my team has no chance? Probably not. But I do agree with those that were hoping to watch him and see 4 riders in some races, I dread to think how far behind young Nicol and Becker will be. But that's all done now, let's hope for 2 nights of cracking Speedway.
